Quantum Geometry and Pair Breaking in Intra- and Intervalley Superconductivity of Rhombohedral Graphene

The observation of superconductivity emerging from a spin- and valley-polarized normal state in rhombohedral graphene raises a basic puzzle: intravalley Cooper pairs involve states that are not generically degenerate because of trigonal warping, and therefore lack the particle--particle nesting underlying the conventional Cooper instability. While recent model studies suggest that nontrivial band geometry can strongly promote chiral pairing, how this geometric enhancement competes with realistic band-structure-induced pair breaking remains unclear. Here we study Kohn--Luttinger superconductivity in electron-doped rhombohedral tetralayer graphene using a DFT-fitted multiorbital tight-binding model, retaining the full Bloch-wave-function form factors in both RPA screening and the projected Cooper interaction. We separate the superconducting instability into three contributions: the symmetry-resolved form-factor-dressed interaction, the Cooper-pair phase space determined by the symmetrized pair dispersion, and the energy mismatch generated by trigonal warping. We find that the Bloch form factors strongly favor intravalley pairing, with a leading predominantly $p_x-ip_y$ instability and a substantially larger maximum $T_c$ than the intervalley reference state. At the same time, trigonal-warping-induced mismatch cuts off the Cooper logarithm and confines intravalley superconductivity to a much narrower region of the phase diagram. The dominant instability occurs near pair-Lifshitz transitions and primarily in reconstructed annular or three-lobed Fermi-surface regimes. Our results show that superconductivity in rhombohedral graphene is controlled by the combined effects of quantum-geometry-dressed interactions, pair fermiology, and trigonal-warping-induced pair breaking.

Chemical-Potential-Dependent Superconducting Spectroscopy on Bi2Te3/NbSe2 Heterostructures

High-resolution scanning tunneling spectroscopy performed at dilution refrigerator temperatures was employed to investigate the superconducting properties of topological insulator/superconductor (Bi2Te3/NbSe2) heterostructures. Coherence peaks with inner kinks or inner peaks, deviating from the conventional single s-wave spectral line shape, were observed in both 5 quintuple-layer (5QL) and 7QL Bi2Te3 thin films. Based on the combination of chemical-potential-dependent spectroscopic measurements and model simulations, we conclude that these spectral features arise from contributions of bulk and surface states in Bi2Te3 by selectively proximity-coupled to a single superconducting gap from NbSe2, rather than inheriting the complicated superconductor's order parameter of NbSe2.

Finite-momentum superconductivity with singlet-triplet mixing in an altermagnetic metal: A pairing instability analysis

We analyze the pairing instability of an altermagnetic metal on a square lattice driven by an attractive nearest-neighbor interaction. This interaction enables multiple pairing channels, including even-parity extended $s$-wave and $d$-wave states, as well as two odd-parity $p$-wave channels. We verify that altermagnetic spin-splitting in the single-particle dispersion gives rise to finite-momentum pairing between electrons with unlike spins, in agreement with earlier predictions. Quite unexpectedly, this pairing typically emerges across multiple channels with mixed parity. Consequently, the resulting finite-momentum Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) superconducting phase is expected to exhibit a multi-component order parameter featuring singlet-triplet mixing. We examine several forms of altermagnetism, specifically $d_{xy}$-wave and $d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}$-wave altermagnetic couplings, and present the corresponding phase diagrams. Additionally, we study triplet pairing between electrons with identical spins and find that it always occurs at zero center-of-mass momentum. Although it is unfavorable in the regime of weak altermagnetic coupling and low electron filling, it can dominate the phase diagram when the altermagnetic coupling is sufficiently strong. The influence of on-site attractive interactions on mixed-parity pairing is also explored.
