FPCP Theory Overview

Abstract

We first review some aspects of the determination of the sides and angles of the unitarity triangle. We pay particular attention to theory shortcomings, and present many alternative proposals for the determination of |Vub| (which at present is problematic). We then turn our attention to the more general question: What have we learned so far about flavor physics and where do we go from here? We argue that the aim of Flavor Physics should be to establish or rule out Minimal Flavor Violating interactions up to a scale of 10 TeV.

Flux Estimates and Detection Prospects for Lunar Antineutrinos

The distribution of heat-producing elements (U, Th, K) within the Moon is critical for understanding its thermal evolution and formation history. Based on a refined lunar interior model, we calculate the lunar antineutrino fluxes from radioactive decays of these elements at two representative detector locations that bracket the expected signal intensity. The maximum flux is found to be slightly lower than the geoneutrino flux for the KamLAND site on Earth, while the minimum flux is approximately a factor of 9 lower than this maximum value. We also compute the expected event rates for lunar antineutrinos using three detection channels.

Graph-theoretic determination of massless modes in latticized theory-space models

A graph-theoretic method is introduced for analyzing fermion mass spectra in latticized theory-space models, including chain models arising from dimensional deconstruction. Fermion mass terms are mapped to bipartite graphs, with fields as vertices and nonvanishing mass terms as edges. The number of massless modes is shown to be fixed by the cardinality of a maximum matching of the associated graph. Moreover, the wave-function support of these modes is restricted to fields reachable from exposed or unmatched vertices by even-length maximum-matching-alternating paths, as characterized by the Dulmage-Mendelsohn decomposition. These results depend only on the topology of latticized theory space and are independent of model parameters. The method enables a systematic construction of latticized models with prescribed numbers and localization properties of massless modes.

Searching for Lepton Flavor Violating decays of the Higgs Boson into $μτ$, $eτ$, and $eμ$ final states at FCC-ee

We investigate the projected sensitivity of the FCC-ee in probing the LFV decay of the 125 GeV Higgs boson, $h\toμτ$, $h\to eτ$, and $h \to eμ$ at center-of-mass energy of 240 GeV with an integrated luminosity of 5 ab$^{-1}$. With the clean multi-lepton final states, we consider the Higgs production modes that contribute to $e^+e^- \to \ell\ell h$, in particular, the Higgs-strahlung and the vector boson fusion production channels. The 95\% CL upper limits on branching ratio are found to be $5.94 \times 10^{-4}$, $6.28 \times 10^{-4}$, and $7.37 \times 10^{-5}$ for the channels $h\toμτ$, $h\to eτ$, and $h \to eμ$, respectively. In addition, we also consider the LFV decay of a new CP-even Higgs boson with mass in the range of $110-200$ GeV. The projected FCC-ee sensitivities are then compared to those from low energy searches for $\ell\to\ell'γ$ decay. We find that the FCC-ee sensitivity for the LFV decays of the Higgs in the $e-τ$ and $μ-τ$ channels is superior to the low-energy constraints. However, in the $e-μ$ case, the low energy search offers stronger constraints.
