Recent progress on supersymmetric effects in rare K decays

Abstract

The dominant MSSM effects in the rare K decays, K+ --> pi+ nu nu bar, KL --> pi0 nu nu bar, KL --> pi0 e+ e- and KL --> pi0 mu+ mu-, are discussed both within and without the minimal flavor violation hypothesis, at moderate and large tangent beta. In each case, the sensitivities to MSSM soft-breaking terms are compared, laying emphasis on possible correlations among observables. In most scenarios, rare K decays offer unique windows into the Delta S=1 sector of the soft-breaking terms. Therefore, together with B-physics and collider observables, these modes will be essential for reconstructing the still elusive SUSY-breaking mechanism.

Reviving primordial black hole formation in slow first-order phase transitions

Large curvature perturbations generated during slow first-order phase transitions are a promising source of primordial black holes. However, recent analyses suggested that the mechanism is ruled out once the density contrast and the formation threshold are evaluated in the same gauge. In this work, we show that this mechanism remains viable: after a supercooled transition, reheating can be sufficiently slow that the Universe enters an early matter-dominated era, during which even small overdensities grow and collapse into primordial black holes.

A Stochastic Approach for Determining the Quark Confinement Potential of Charmonia

In this study, a non-relativistic potential model is used to calculate the mass spectrum and decay properties of low lying charmonium states. A stochastic framework is proposed to extract the possible analytical form of the confinement part of the interaction potential between quarks. Based on this approach, it is found that the confinement function deviates slightly from a linear form at large distances. The results obtained are compared with other theoretical predictions and current PDG values.

Prospects for probing neutral vector-like leptons via pair production at a muon collider

Vector-like leptons (VLLs) are well-motivated candidates for physics beyond the standard model. We investigate the sensitivity of the $6$ TeV muon collider to the neutral doublet VLL (denoted by $N$) via its pair production in an SU(2)$_L$ doublet model with hypercharge $Y=-\frac{1}{2}$. Assuming mixing with muons, we study the subsequent decay $N\rightarrow W^+ μ^-$ and analyze two representative signals, namely $4j2μ$ and $2\ell2μE\mkern-10.5 mu/$, arising from the hadronic and leptonic decays of the $W$ boson, respectively. The signal and background events are simulated within a Monte Carlo framework, and a cut-based analysis is performed at the $6$ TeV muon collider with an integrated luminosity $\mathcal{L}=4$ ab$^{-1}$ for the unpolarized and polarized beam configurations, $(P_{μ^+},P_{μ^-})=(0,0)$ and $(P_{μ^+},P_{μ^-})=(-1,1)$. We consider VLL masses in the range of $1300-2980$ GeV and evaluate the corresponding search sensitivity. Our results show that the $6$ TeV muon collider could provide strong sensitivity to neutral doublet VLLs through the $4j2μ$ and $2\ell2μE\mkern-10.5 mu/$ signals, particularly for the idealized fully polarized beam configuration, under the detector, polarization, luminosity and background assumptions adopted in this analysis.
