Cell Classification of Gelfand $S_n$-Graphs
Abstract
Kazhdan--Lusztig introduced \(W\)-graphs to encode Hecke algebra representations on canonical bases, whose strongly connected components are the cells of the graph. A canonical basis admits additional structure under restriction to Levi quantum subalgebras: the connected components of the corresponding Levi crystals have dominant highest weights, called Levi tops, which organize the basis through dominance filtrations. In this paper, we establish a general multiplicity-free Levi-top criterion for canonical-basis Hecke graphs. When the Levi restriction is multiplicity-free, the relevant dominance filtrations are compatible with the Hecke action, and each Levi-top fiber is connected by bidirected edges, the cells, molecules, and Levi-top fibers coincide. Applying this criterion to the two type-\(A\) Gelfand \(S_n\)-graphs arising from the row and column Beissinger correspondences, we prove that every cell is exactly one molecule.
