Convergence Without Finite Exactness in the Eigenstate Quantum Bootstrap

Abstract

The eigenstate quantum-mechanical bootstrap can converge to the physical moment set while remaining nonexact at every finite order. We prove this for a one-dimensional quasi-exactly solvable sextic oscillator at explicitly known eigenvalues, including excited levels. At every finite order, the lower and upper bounds on $u^2$ remain strictly below and above its physical value, even after adjoining arbitrary finite polynomial Gram tests and all eigenstate-annihilator relations visible in the retained moment space. Hence neither side of the centered observable admits a finite sum-of-squares certificate modulo the eigenstate annihilator. The gap persists under any finite set of additional localizing constraints whose weights are strictly positive on polynomial vectors. We then prove convergence for polynomial Schrödinger operators satisfying explicit sum-of-squares confinement and derivative bounds. The eigenstate relations give moment estimates uniform in the truncation order; these yield a regular Schrödinger representation supported on the prescribed eigenspace. Finally, a four-mode extension combines this fixed-observable obstruction with feasible position moments having no positive representing measure at every finite order. At level three, this construction yields nonphysical feasible points with strictly positive definite moment matrices.

Factorization Algebras for Linearized Gravity

The purpose of this work is to bring gravitational theories into play within the quickly developing framework of factorization algebras. We fit the causal structure of Lorentzian manifolds into categorical language, and in the globally hyperbolic case discover a convenient equivalence of coverages. Then, we show how both perturbative general relativity and perturbative conformal gravity define Batalin-Vilkovisky classical field theories. Finally, we describe how the observables of linearized general relativity define a particularly nice factorization algebra on the category of Ricci flat globally hyperbolic manifolds and present a few conjectures which arise in specific cases, primarily motivated by the study of black hole entropy as a conserved Noether charge.

Tensor invariants for multipartite entanglement classification

Organising the space of entanglement structures of a multipartite quantum system is a much more challenging task than its bipartite version: while the local unitary (LU) orbit of a bipartite pure state can be conveniently characterized by its entanglement spectrum, invariants of multipartite entanglement structures are comparatively difficult to define and work with. The root cause of this difference is that the bipartite problem can be reduced to the analysis of matrix invariants, while its multipartite version is governed by a much richer space of tensor invariants. The present work explores the latter through the lens of so-called trace-invariants, which are in one-to-one correspondence with combinatorial objects known as colored graphs. We first explain why trace-invariant evaluations can serve as labels of LU-orbits of multipartite pure states, how this strategy extends to random states, and how the effect of local operations (LO) can be analyzed through such data. We then focus on entanglement classification within an (infinite-dimensional) subspace of reference states, whose basic building blocks are GHZ states of various dimensions. We show that relatively simple subclasses of trace-invariants are sufficient to separate the LU-orbits of reference states, and enable a complete (resp. an incomplete) characterization of their relations in the LO (resp. LOCC) resource theory of entanglement. Finally, we investigate how a (still infinite) subclass of reference states of local dimension N can be efficiently distinguished at leading and subleading orders in an asymptotic large-N expansion (among themselves, or from Haar-random states). This analysis relies crucially on combinatorial quantities associated to colored graphs, some of which have already played instrumental roles in the recent literature on random tensors. Results of broader relevance are reported along the way.

Chiral Long-Range Order in three Euclidean Lattice Gross-Neveu Models

We prove the existence of Long-Range Order in a class of two-dimensional Euclidean lattice Gross-Neveu models with an even number of fermion flavors, covering three standard lattice discretizations, including naive and staggered fermions widely used in numerical studies. By performing a Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation, we map the fermionic systems to bosonic ones and establish Reflection Positivity for the resulting measures. Exploiting this structure, we combine Chessboard Estimates with a Peierls-type contour argument to prove Long-Range Order for the chirally charged fermion-mass bilinear $\overlineψψ$ at sufficiently small coupling and sufficiently large flavor number. Our analysis is robust with respect to the choice of lattice discretization and applies uniformly across different realizations of the same underlying continuum model. Moreover, we obtain uniform pointwise bounds on the bosonic two-point function, equivalently on the fermionic mass-mass correlator, showing that it is quantitatively controlled by the minimizers of the effective potential. This provides a fully rigorous and non-perturbative demonstration of Long-Range Order in lattice Gross-Neveu models and establishes a direct connection between the rigorous theory and its large-$N$ (mean-field) predictions.
