Berry--Esseen Bounds for High-Temperature Ising Models

Abstract

We consider the nearest-neighbour Ising model on $\mathbb{Z}^d$, and establish sharp results for the normal approximation of the magnetisation throughout the high-temperature regime. In particular, we establish optimal Berry--Esseen bounds between the magnetisation in an arbitrary finite region and a Gaussian with the corresponding finite-volume variance. These results hold for finite-volume Gibbs measures with arbitrary boundary conditions, as well as for the infinite-volume Gibbs measure. We also determine sharp rates of convergence of the magnetisation in a finite box to a Gaussian with variance given by the infinite-volume susceptibility. For this fixed Gaussian target, we show that, in dimensions $d\ge 3$, periodic boundary conditions yield strictly faster convergence than free boundary conditions. Our approach uses Stein's method to quantify the normal approximation error by analysing the semigroup of the continuous-time Ising heat-bath dynamics.

Dimension formula for harmonic measures in invariant random graphs on Gromov hyperbolic spaces

For random walks in various group-invariant random graphs on Gromov hyperbolic spaces, we show that the associated harmonic measures are exact dimensional and their Hausdorff dimensions are equal to the entropy over the speed, Our method is inspired by cluster relations introduced by Gaboriau and applies to percolation clusters on hyperbolic groups and Poisson--Voronoi tessellations on rank one Riemannian symmetric spaces.

Well-posedness of kinetic McKean-Vlasov equations

We consider the McKean-Vlasov equation $dX_t = b(t, X_t, [X_t])dt + σ(t, X_t, [X_t])dW_t$ where $[X_t]$ is the law of $X_t$. We specifically consider the kinetic case, where the equation is degenerate because the dimension of the Brownian motion $W$ is strictly smaller than that of the solution $X$, as commonly required in classical models of collisional kinetic theory. Assuming Hölder continuous coefficients and a weak Hörmander condition, we prove the well-posedness of the equation. This result advances the existing literature by filling a crucial gap: it addresses the previously unexplored case where the diffusion coefficient $σ$ depends on the law $[X_t]$. Notably, our proof employs a simplified and direct argument eliminating the need for PDEs involving derivatives with respect to the measure argument. A critical ingredient is the sub-Riemannian metric structure induced by the corresponding Fokker-Planck operator.

Ranges of Extremal Processes and Heavy-Tailed Random Walks in Spaces of Growing Dimension

We consider extremal processes and random walks generated by heavy-tailed random vectors taking values in ${\mathbb R}^d$ endowed with the $\ell_p$ metric. We establish limit theorems for the ranges of associated paths in the triangular array setting when both the number of steps $n$ and the dimension $d$ grow to infinity. It is shown that it is possible to transform the paths by suitable linear isometric embeddings of $\ell_p$ such that the transformed paths converge in distribution and to identify the limit in terms of a Poisson cluster process. These results also imply the convergence in distribution of the paths viewed as finite metric spaces in the space of metric spaces equipped with the Gromov--Hausdorff metric. Furthermore, we prove convergence in distribution of the transformed paths in the space of counting measures on the line equipped with a Hausdorff metric induced by a suitable $\ell_p$-type distance between counting measures.
