String phenomenology from the landscape
Abstract
SUSY breaking trilinear terms, known as A-terms, play a key role in supersymmetric phenomenology in that 1. large weak scale values help boost the light Higgs boson mass m_h -> 125 GeV and 2. the same large negative values {\it decrease} the top-squark contributions to the weak scale, thus making the theory more natural. Their renormalization group evolution also plays a key role in the string landscape in that large values can drive top-squark soft terms to tachyonic values leading to charge-and-color breaking (CCB) minima in the scalar potential. Adjacent to these CCB regions is where m_h -> 125 GeV and where natural parameter space can be found. This is an example of {\it living dangerously} on the landscape where the draw to large soft terms stops just short of catastrophic minima, but where nature is natural with a Higgs mass near its measured value. In a final panoramic view, we compare the reach of HL-LHC for landscape SUSY via several prominent signatures in the higgsino vs. gaugino mass parameter space for the case of decoupled first/second generation scalars.
