V-Representability Beyond Singular Times in Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory: The Hubbard Dimer Case

Abstract

We study the global $V$-representability problem in time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) for the two-particle Hubbard dimer model in the spin-singlet sector. In particular, we investigate whether the time-dependent density of the interacting system obtained for a given one-body external potential $u$ (the tunable control variable) can be reproduced by a non-interacting Kohn--Sham system beyond the singular times at which the usual inversion formulas break down. We deal with both the conventional formulation of TDDFT based on some time-dependent variational principle and the recently introduced geometric formulation of TDDFT (Phys. Rev. Lett. 136 (2026) 256401, Phys. Rev. A 113 (2026) 062222). For both principles, we prove global-in-time $V$-representability, show that singular times induce non-uniqueness of the time-dependent effective potential, and classify the set of solutions.

Ground State Energy of Dilute Fermi Gases in 1D

We study the one-dimensional spin-$J$ Fermi gas, interacting through a general repulsive 2-body potential, and prove asymptotics of the ground state energy in the dilute limit. The asymptotic behaviour is given in terms of the ground state energy of a spin chain, which is the Heisenberg antiferromagnet in the case of spin-1/2 fermions. We determine similar asymptotics for the Lieb-Liniger-Heisenberg model, showing that a product trial state used by Girardeau is not optimal.

Magnetic Hardy inequalities with singular integral weights

In this paper we present Hardy type inequalities for magnetic Dirichlet forms with singular integral weights. We analyze the local and global optimality of the integral weight and discuss several examples in details. An application of our results to spectral estimates for magnetic Schrödinger operators is provided as well.

Perturbative anomalies in quantum mechanics

In this work, we propose a cohomological approach to studying perturbative anomalies in quantum mechanics. The Hamiltonian $\hat{H}$ together with the symmetry generator $\hat{S}$ forms a unitary representation of the two-dimensional Abelian Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}\cong \mathbb{R}^{2}$ on the Hilbert space $V$. We show that perturbations of such a system are related to the first Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology group $H^{1}_{CE}(\mathbb{R}^{2},\mathfrak{u}(V))$. In turn, the perturbative anomalies of the symmetry $\hat{S}$ are related to the second cohomology group $H^{2}_{CE}(\mathbb{R}^{2},\mathfrak{u}(V))$.
