Sharp global \(L^2\) estimates for oscillatory integral operators with quasi-homogeneous phases

Abstract

For one-dimensional oscillatory integral operators with real-analytic phases, the seminal work of Phong and Stein established that the Newton polygon of the mixed Hessian of the phase determines the sharp local \(L^2\)-decay. The local theory relies on spatial localization near the origin and therefore does not capture the global geometry of the real zero set of the Hessian. For globally defined operators, unbounded real zero curves of the Hessian can make the global decay strictly slower than the local decay or destroy \(L^2\)-boundedness altogether. We establish a global analogue of the Phong--Stein theory for quasi-homogeneous polynomial phases. We introduce a family of Newton polygons adapted to the regions near and away from the real zero curves of the Hessian, together with the corresponding box-area scales. The relative geometry of these Newton polygons and area scales characterizes global \(L^2\)-boundedness and determines the sharp \(L^2\)-estimates in the high- and low-frequency regimes. As an application, we determine the exact range of anisotropic homogeneous \(L^2\)-Sobolev estimates for the associated global Radon transform.

On Hölder continuity and $p^\mathrm{th}$-variation function of Weierstrass-type functions

We study Hölder continuity, $p^\mathrm{th}$-variation function and Riesz variation of Weierstrass-type functions along the sequence of b-adic partitions, where b>1 is an integer. By a Weierstrass-type function, we mean that in the definition of the well-known Weierstrass function, the power function is replaced by a submultiplicative function, and the Lipschitz continuous cosine and sine functions are replaced by a general periodic Hölder continuous function.

Restricted Projections to Hyperplanes in $\mathbb{R}^n$

We study dimensions of sets projected to an $(n-2)$-dimensional family of hyperplanes in $\mathbb{R}^n$ under curvature conditions. Let $n\ge 4$, $Σ\subset S^{n-1}$ be an $(n-2)$-dimensional $C^2$ manifold such that $Σ$ has sectional curvature $>1$ and $Z \subset \mathbb{R}^{n}$ be analytic. If $\dimπ_{T_yS^{n-1}}(Z) \le n-2$ for some $y \in S^{n-1}$, then $\dim π_{T_xS^{n-1}}(Z) = \dim Z$ for $\mathcal{H}^{n-2}$-a.e. $x \in Σ$.

New Newton-type inequality and a unified perspective on Maclaurin's inequality via the inclusion relations of cones

The classical Newton-Maclaurin's inequalities for the elementary symmetric means are well known. In this paper, we derive a new class of Newton-type inequalities and generalize Maclaurin's inequality by connecting the elementary symmetric functions with their counterparts. Our idea is mainly motivated by the inclusion relations of G$\mathring{\text{a}}$rding's cones and $k$-convex cones.
