Hyperfine Splittings of Baryons Containing a Heavy Quark in the Skyrme Model
Abstract
The $Σ_c^*-Σ_c$ and $Σ_b^*-Σ_b$ hyperfine mass splittings are computed in the Skyrme model. The hyperfine splittings are suppressed by both $1/N_c$ and by $1/m_Q$, where $N_c$ is the number of colors and $m_Q$ is the mass of the heavy quark. The $Σ_c$, $Σ_c^*$, $Σ_b$, $Σ_b^*$, and $Λ_b$ masses are predicted in terms of the known values of the $Λ_c$, $D$, $D^*$, $B$ and $B^*$ masses.
