The Sasa-Satsuma higher order nonlinear Schrodinger equation and its bilinearization and multi-soliton solutions

Abstract

Higher order and multicomponent generalizations of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation are important in various applications, e.g., in optics. One of these equations, the integrable Sasa-Satsuma equation, has particularly interesting soliton solutions. Unfortunately the construction of multi-soliton solutions to this equation presents difficulties due to its complicated bilinearization. We discuss briefly some previous attempts and then give the correct bilinearization based on the interpretation of the Sasa-Satsuma equation as a reduction of the three-component Kadomtsev-Petvishvili hierarchy. In the process we also get bilinearizations and multi-soliton formulae for a two component generalization of the Sasa-Satsuma equation (the Yajima-Oikawa-Tasgal-Potasek model), and for a (2+1)-dimensional generalization.

Bootstrapping Fermionic $R$-operators with Decorated Yang--Baxter Equations

Integrating infinitesimal generators of local dynamics into finite-time evolution is generally harder than extracting a local Hamiltonian from a quantum gate. For integrable one-dimensional quantum many-body systems, a recent bootstrap constructs one-parameter $R$-operators directly from Hamiltonians satisfying the Reshetikhin condition. However, this condition excludes important models such as the Hubbard model, whose two-parameter $R$-operator was obtained by Shastry from a decorated Yang--Baxter equation obeyed by its free-fermion sector. Here, I extend the bootstrap to $R$-operators constrained by both the ordinary and decorated Yang--Baxter equations. Their joint expansion produces additional Hamiltonian-level necessary conditions and recursively determines candidate higher-order terms, subject to two-site locality at each order. I also derive compatibility and factorization conditions under which a Shastry-type superposition solves the $RLL$ relation after deformation by an onsite involution. The construction recovers the known two-parameter $R$-operators of the Hubbard and XYh models, whose full Yang--Baxter equations follow from established tetrahedral Zamolodchikov algebra relations. For a superconducting Hubbard deformation, the scalar equations are generically incompatible, placing it outside this framework. These results provide diagnostics and a systematic route to fermionic $R$-operators beyond the Reshetikhin condition. General sufficiency, convergence of the formal bootstrap, and sufficiency of the deformation conditions remain open.

The gauge action on semi-discrete Lax representations, its invariants, and Lax-Miura type constructions

We introduce and study explicit invariants with respect to the action of (local) gauge transformations on the set of semi-discrete (differential-difference) matrix Lax representations (MLRs) for a given (1+1)-dimensional evolutionary differential-difference equation with any number of components. Using these invariants, we obtain the following general results: - Sufficient conditions for nonremovability of parameters in semi-discrete MLRs. (Nonremovability by means of gauge transformations.) - Necessary conditions for two semi-discrete MLRs to be gauge equivalent. Effective use of these results is demonstrated. We present the general theory and apply it to MLRs for equations of Volterra--Yamilov, Cherdantsev--Yamilov, Toda types and Miura-type modifications. Also, we present a comparison with results of S. Yu. Sakovich and M. Marvan on gauge invariants for (continuous) zero-curvature representations of partial differential equations. Furthermore, we demonstrate procedures for constructing Miura-type transformations (MTs) for discrete (partial difference) equations (on the two-dimensional integer lattice) by means of gauge simplifications of discrete matrix Lax pairs (DLPs) and reductions of auxiliary systems associated with DLPs. This allows us to construct new MTs for (non-evolutionary) 4-point and 6-point discrete equations from [D. Levi, R.I. Yamilov, J. Phys. A 2009], [S. Konstantinou-Rizos, A.V. Mikhailov, P. Xenitidis, J. Math. Phys. 2015].

A Riemann-Hilbert approach to the two-component modified Camassa-Holm system with step-like boundary conditions

We develop a Riemann--Hilbert formalism for the Cauchy problem for the two-component modified Camassa--Holm (2-mCH) system on the real line under non-zero step-like boundary conditions. Starting from the corresponding Lax pair, we carry out the direct spectral analysis and establish the analytic, symmetry, and asymptotic properties of the eigenfunctions and spectral data determined by the initial conditions. These results are then used to formulate a matrix Riemann--Hilbert problem whose solution provides a reconstruction formula for the solution of the original Cauchy problem.
