Inelastic photon scattering and the magnetic moment of the $Δ$ (1232) resonance
Abstract
The reaction $γ+p\toγ'+p+π^0$ has been suggested as a means to deduce the $Δ^+$ magnetic moment. The cross section for this process is estimated in both the constituent quark model and an effective Lagrangian procedure. The resulting total cross section is of the order 5-10 nb, which is at the limit of present experimental capabilities.
