High-order perturbative corrections to positronium decays and hyperfine splitting are briefly reviewed. Theoretical predictions are compared to the most recent experimental data. Perspectives of future calculations are discussed.
In this talk I review the calculation of the third order corrections to the heavy quarkonium spectrum in the nonrelativistic effective theory framework and its application to the phenomenology of top quark threshold production.
We present the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading ${\cal O}(α_s^5m_q)$ result for the ground state energy of a heavy quarkonium system. On the basis of this result we determine the bottom quark mass from $Υ(1S)$ resonance and provide an explicit formula relating the top quark mass to the resonance energy in $t\bar t$ threshold production.
The next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N^3LO) Hamiltonian of potential nonrelativistic QCD is derived. The complete matching of the Hamiltonian and the contribution from the ultrasoft dynamical gluons relevant for perturbative bound-state calculations is performed including one-, two-, and three-loop contributions. The threshold expansion is used to disentangle and match contributions of different scales in the effective-theory calculations. As a physical application, the heavy-quarkonium spectrum is obtained at N^3LO for the case of vanishing QCD beta function. Our results set the stage for a full N^3LO analysis of the heavy-quarkonium system.
In this paper we compute the decay constant of the pseudo-scalar heavy-light mesons in the heavy quark effective theory framework of QCD sum rules. In our analysis we include the recently evaluated three-loop result of order $α_s^2$ for the heavy-light current correlator. The value of the bottom quark mass, which essentially limits the accuracy of the sum rules for $B$ meson, is extracted from the nonrelativistic sum rules for $Υ$ resonances in the next-to-next-to-leading approximation. We find stability of our result with respect to all types of corrections and the specific form of the sum rule which reduces the uncertainty. Our results $f_B=206\pm 20$ MeV and $f_D=195\pm 20$ MeV for the $B$ and $D$ meson decay constants are in impressive agreement with recent lattice calculations.
We present an analytical description of top-antitop pair production near the threshold in $e^+e^-$ annihilation and $\g\g$ collisions. A set of basic observables considered includes the total cross sections, forward-backward asymmetry and top quark polarization. The threshold effects relevant for the basic observables are described by three universal functions related to S wave production, P wave production and S-P interference. These functions are computed analytically up to the next-to-next-to-leading order of NRQCD. The total $e^+e^-\to t\bar t$ cross section near the threshold is obtained in the next-to-next-to-leading order in the closed form including the contribution due to the axial coupling of top quark and mediated by the Z-boson. The effects of the running of the strong coupling constant and of the finite top quark width are taken into account analytically for the P wave production and S-P wave interference.
The top quark-antiquark pair threshold production at future High Energy Photon Colliders is considered in view of the recent advances in the theoretical description of the nonrelativistic heavy quark dynamics.
In this talk I briefly review the recent progress in calculation of the high order corrections to the parameters of the nonrelativistic heavy quark-antiquark system in the effective theory approach.
Recent results for the asymptotic behavior of fermion scattering amplitudes in the Sudakov limit are presented including next-to-leading logarithmic corrections. These are used for the analysis of the dominant electroweak corrections to the fermion-antifermion pair production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at high energy.
In the framework of nonrelativistic QCD, we compute the leading double-logarithmic corrections of order alpha_s^3 ln^2(1/alpha_s) to the heavy-quark-antiquark bound-state wave function at the origin, which determines the production and annihilation rates of heavy quarkonia. The phenomenological implications for the top-antitop and Upsilon systems are discussed.
Using non-relativistic effective theories, new next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to the total $t\bar t$ production cross section at the Linear Collider have been calculated recently. In this article the NNLO calculations of several groups are compared and the remaining uncertainties are discussed. The theoretical prospects for an accurate determination of top quark mass parameters are discussed in detail. An outlook on possible future improvements is given.
We apply the strategy of regions within dimensional regularization to find functions involved in evolution equations which govern the asymptotic dynamics of the Abelian form factor and four-fermion amplitude in the SU(N) gauge theory in the Sudakov limit up to the next-to-leading logarithmic approximation. The results are used for the analysis of the dominant electroweak corrections to the fermion-antifermion pair production in the $e^+e^-$ annihilation at high energy.
In the framework of nonrelativistic QCD, we consider a new class of radiative corrections, which are generated at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order through the chromoelectric dipole interaction of heavy quarkonium with ultrasoft virtual gluons. We provide analytical formulae from which the resulting shifts in the quarkonium energy levels and the wave functions at the origin may be calculated. We discuss the phenomenological implications for the top-antitop and Upsilon systems and point out some limitations of describing charmonium using a Coulomb potential.
The dominant electroweak double logarithmic corrections to the process $e^+e^-\to f\bar f$ at high energy are found in all orders of perturbation theory. In contrast to results in simple Yang-Mills theories these corrections do not exponentiate.
The total cross section of the top quark-antiquark pair production near threshold in $γγ$ collision is computed analytically up to the next-to-leading order in perturbative and nonrelativistic expansion for general photon helicity. The approximation includes the first order corrections in the strong coupling constant and the heavy quark velocity to the nonrelativistic Coulomb approximation.
We present a consistent analysis of $Υ$ sum rules and $B$-meson semileptonic width in the next-to-next-to-leading order in the strong coupling constant. The analysis is based on the analytical result for the heavy quark vector current correlator near threshold in the second order in perturbative and relativistic expansion around the nonrelativistic Coulomb approximation.
The most recent recalculation of the two-loop correction to the static quark-antiquark potential gave the numerical value different from the previously known one. We comment on the effect this change produces on the numerical estimates of the bottom quark pole mass $m_b$, the strong coupling constant $\al_s$ and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cb}|$ obtained in our papers [1,2].
