Smooth flux-sheets with topological winding modes

The inclusion of the Gaussian-curvature term in the bulk of Polyakov-Kleinert string action renders new boundary terms and conditions by Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Within a leading approximation, the eigenmodes of smooth worldsheets and the free-energy of a gas of open rigid strings appears to be altered at second order in the coupling by the topological term . In analogy to the topological $θ$ term, the Gauss-Bonnet term is introduced into the effective action with a complex coupling to implement signed energy shifts. We investigate the rigid color flux-sheets between two static color sources near the critical point in the light of the topologically induced shifts. The Yang-Mills lattice data of the potential of static quark-antiquark $Q\bar{Q}$ in a heatbath is compared to the string potential. The Monte-Carlo data correspond to link-integrated Polyakov-loop correlators averaged over SU(3) gauge configurations at $β=6.0$. Substantial improvement in the fit behavior is displayed over the nonperturbative source separation distance $0.2$ fm to $1.0$ fm. Remarkably, the returned coupling parameter of the topological term from the fit exhibits a proportionality to a quantum number. These findings suggest that the manifested modes are the winding number of a topological particle on the string's worldsheet.

Stiff self-interacting string near QCD deconfinement point

We compare the predictions of Nambu-Goto effective string model at two loop-order for the Casimir energy and the width of the quantum delocalization of the string to the corresponding quark-antiquark potential and width profile of the color tube in pure SU (3) Yang-Mills LGT at 4-dimensions near the deconfinement point. Minor effects are returned, when considering NLO terms for both the $Q\bar{Q}$ potential and broadening of the color tube, at the temperature $T/T_c= 0.8$. At a closer temperature to the critical point $T/T_c$= 0.9, we found that the NLO contributions, from the expansion of the Nambu-Goto string, to have a significant effect in improving the match to lattice data in the intermediate distances scales. The string's self-interactions contribute towards the suppressed broadening of the string's width and the squeezed profile along the string at the intermediate color source separation distance.

The LTE solar abundance of neodymium

We study the solar photospheric abundance of singly ionized neodymium (Nd II) using high resolution spectroscopic data obtained by Fourier transform spectrograph (FTS). Based on the Local Thermodynamical Equilibrium (LTE) assumption, a new value of Nd abundance is derived. We succeed to select of 51 solar Nd II lines with accurate transition probabilities measured experimentally by Den Hartog et al. (2003) and with accurate damping parameters are determined from literature. Relying on atomic data of Opacity Distribution Function (ODF), we construct theoretical photospheric solar model. The mean solar photospheric abundance obtained from all 51 Nd II lines is log εNd=1.45 +- 0.08, which is mostly similar to the meteoric value.

Mesonic String of Diquark-Quark Configuration at Finite Temperature

We investigate the distance and temperatures scale for which the string in baryonic quark configuration approaches the limiting behavior of mesonic strings in pure Yang-Mills SU(3) lattice gauge theory. We calculate and compare the numerical values of the Polyakov loop correlators and the width profile of both diquark-quark $(QQ)Q$ and mesonic $Q\bar{Q}$ strings. We find the diquark-quark configuration to exhibit an identical behavior to the mesonic string for the potential and energy-density width profile for temperature near the end of QCD plateau. In the vicinity of the deconfinement point; however, the symmetry in the energy-width profile with the meson does not manifest at both short and intermediate distance scales. Moreover, we observe significantly different numerical values for Polyakov loop correlators corresponding to each system. The splitting of the two identical system suggest that, in the high temperature region of the confined phase of QCD, the subsisted baryonic decouplet states overlap with the excited mesonic spectrum yielding the diquark-quark symmetry with the meson inexact in a small enough neighborhood of the critical point $T_{c}$.

Astrophysical parameters of ten poorly studied open star clusters

We present here the fundamental parameters of ten open star clusters, nominated from Kronberger et al. (2006) who presented some new discovered stellar groups on the basis of 2MASS photometry and DSS visual images. Star counts and photometric parameters (radius, membership, distances, color excess, age, luminosity function, mass function, total mass, and the dynamical relaxation time) have been determined for these ten clusters for the first time. In order to calibrate our procedures, the main parameters (distance, age, and color excesses) have been re-estimated for another five clusters, which are studied by Kronberger et al. (2006) as well.
