Energy Calibration and Performance of HPGe Detectors in the LEGEND-200 Experiment

This paper describes the energy scale procedures and germanium detectors performance in the LEGEND-200 experiment, a critical component for the first unblinding in the search for neutrinoless double beta decay. We detail the digital signal processing pipeline, the methodologies for peak-shape modeling and energy calibration procedures utilizing weekly $^{228}$Th source calibration runs. The optimized energy reconstruction achieves a combined average resolution of $(2.47 \pm 0.08)$~keV at $Q_{\beta\beta} = 2039$~keV. The weekly variation of calibration peak positions are below 0.05~keV for energies up to 2614.5~keV, showing a high stability of the energy scale over time and across detectors. Furthermore, systematic corrections effectively address residual non-linearities and energy bias in the region of interest.

ALADIN: Accuracy-Latency-Aware Design-space Inference Analysis for Embedded AI Accelerators

The inference of deep neural networks (DNNs) on resource-constrained embedded systems introduces non-trivial trade-offs among model accuracy, computational latency, and hardware limitations, particularly when real-time constraints must be satisfied. This paper presents ALADIN, an accuracy-latency-aware design-space inference analysis framework for mixed-precision quantized neural networks (QNNs) targeting scratchpad-based AI accelerators. ALADIN enables the evaluation and analysis of inference bottlenecks and design trade-offs across accuracy, latency, and resource consumption without requiring deployment on the target platform, thereby significantly reducing development time and cost. The framework introduces a progressive refinement process that transforms a canonical QONNX model into platform-aware representations by integrating both platform-independent implementation details and hardware-specific characteristics. ALADIN is validated using a cycle-accurate simulator of a RISC-V based platform specialized for AI workloads, demonstrating its effectiveness as a tool for quantitative inference analysis and hardware-software co-design. Experimental results highlight how architectural decisions and mixed-precision quantization strategies impact accuracy, latency, and resource usage, and show that these effects can be precisely evaluated and compared using ALADIN, while also revealing subtle optimization tensions.

Characterization of field cage and cathode for low radioactivity operation with the CYGNO experiment

Dark matter, which is considered to account for approximately the 27% of the Universe's energy-mass content, remains an open issue in modern particle physics along with its composition. The CYGNO Experiment aims to exploit an innovative approach applied to the direct detection search of low energy nuclear recoils possibly induced by cold particle-like dark matter candidates. CYGNO employs a directional detector based on a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) filled with a He:CF$_{4}$ gas mixture and equipped with an optical readout. Currently, the CYGNO Collaboration is constructing the detector demonstrator, CYGNO-04, in Hall F at Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS). This 0.4 m$^3$ detector has the goal of proving the scalability of the technology and assessing the physics and radiopurity capabilities. Given the low radioactivity requirements, especially in internal components such as field cage and cathode, the reduction of material while keeping the correct electrical behavior is paramount. In this paper, we present the validation of several internal components, mainly focusing on the field cage material and support structure. The tests included geometrical asymmetries in the electric field response, collection efficiency as well as measurement of known physical quantities. A preferred configuration is found with a structure based on Nylon material which supports a PET or Kapton sheet with copper strips deposited on.
