A new class ${\hat o}_N$ of statistical models: Transfer matrix eigenstates, chain Hamiltonians, factorizable $S$-matrix

Statistical models corresponding to a new class of braid matrices ($\hat{o}_N; N\geq 3$) presented in a previous paper are studied. Indices labeling states spanning the $N^r$ dimensional base space of $T^{(r)}(θ)$, the $r$-th order transfer matrix are so chosen that the operators $W$ (the sum of the state labels) and (CP) (the circular permutation of state labels) commute with $T^{(r)}(θ)$. This drastically simplifies the construction of eigenstates, reducing it to solutions of relatively small number of simultaneous linear equations. Roots of unity play a crucial role. Thus for diagonalizing the 81 dimensional space for N=3, $r=4$, one has to solve a maximal set of 5 linear equations. A supplementary symmetry relates invariant subspaces pairwise ($W=(r,Nr)$ and so on) so that only one of each pair needs study. The case N=3 is studied fully for $r=(1,2,3,4)$. Basic aspects for all $(N,r)$ are discussed. Full exploitation of such symmetries lead to a formalism quite different from, possibly generalized, algebraic Bethe ansatz. Chain Hamiltonians are studied. The specific types of spin flips they induce and propagate are pointed out. The inverse Cayley transform of the YB matrix giving the potential leading to factorizable $S$-matrix is constructed explicitly for N=3 as also the full set of $\hat{R}tt$ relations. Perspectives are discussed in a final section.

Exotic Bialgebra S03: Representations, Baxterisation and Applications

The exotic bialgebra S03, defined by a solution of the Yang-Baxter equation, which is not a deformation of the trivial, is considered. Its FRT dual algebra $s03_F$ is studied. The Baxterisation of the dual algebra is given in two different parametrisations. The finite-dimensional representations of $s03_F$ are considered. Diagonalisations of the braid matrices are used to yield remarkable insights concerning representations of the L-algebra and to formulate the fusion of finite-dimensional representations. Possible applications are considered, in particular, an exotic eight-vertex model and an integrable spin-chain model.

A nested sequence of projectors (2): Multiparameter multistate statistical models, Hamiltonians, S-matrices

Our starting point is a class of braid matrices, presented in a previous paper, constructed on a basis of a nested sequence of projectors. Statistical models associated to such $N^2\times N^2$ matrices for odd $N$ are studied here. Presence of $\frac 12(N+3)(N-1)$ free parameters is the crucial feature of our models, setting them apart from other well-known ones. There are $N$ possible states at each site. The trace of the transfer matrix is shown to depend on $\frac 12(N-1)$ parameters. For order $r$, $N$ eigenvalues consitute the trace and the remaining $(N^r-N)$ eigenvalues involving the full range of parameters come in zero-sum multiplets formed by the $r$-th roots of unity, or lower dimensional multiplets corresponding to factors of the order $r$ when $r$ is not a prime number. The modulus of any eigenvalue is of the form $e^{μθ}$, where $μ$ is a linear combination of the free parameters, $θ$ being the spectral parameter. For $r$ a prime number an amusing relation of the number of multiplets with a theorem of Fermat is pointed out. Chain Hamiltonians and potentials corresponding to factorizable $S$-matrices are constructed starting from our braid matrices. Perspectives are discussed.

Aspects of a new class of braid matrices: roots of unity and hyperelliptic $q$ for triangularity, L-algebra,link-invariants, noncommutative spaces

Various properties of a class of braid matrices, presented before, are studied considering $N^2 \times N^2 (N=3,4,...)$ vector representations for two subclasses. For $q=1$ the matrices are nontrivial. Triangularity $(\hat R^2 =I)$ corresponds to polynomial equations for $q$, the solutions ranging from roots of unity to hyperelliptic functions. The algebras of $L-$ operators are studied. As a crucial feature one obtains $2N$ central, group-like, homogenous quadratic functions of $L_{ij}$ constrained to equality among themselves by the $RLL$ equations. They are studied in detail for $N =3$ and are proportional to $I$ for the fundamental $3\times3$ representation and hence for all iterated coproducts. The implications are analysed through a detailed study of the $9\times 9$ representation for N=3. The Turaev construction for link invariants is adapted to our class. A skein relation is obtained. Noncommutative spaces associated to our class of $\hat R$ are constructed. The transfer matrix map is implemented, with the N=3 case as example, for an iterated construction of noncommutative coordinates starting from an $(N-1)$ dimensional commutative base space. Further possibilities, such as multistate statistical models, are indicated.

Spectral Decomposition and Baxterisation of Exotic Bialgebras and Associated Noncommutative Geometries

We study the geometric aspects of two exotic bialgebras S03 and S14 introduced in math.QA/0206053. These bialgebras are obtained by the Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtajan RTT prescription with non-triangular R-matrices which are denoted $R_{03}$ and $R_{14}$ in the classification of Hietarinta, and they are not deformations of either GL(2) or GL(1/1). We give the spectral decomposition which involves two, resp., three, projectors. These projectors are then used to provide the Baxterisation procedure with one, resp., two, parameters. Further, the projectors are used to construct the noncommutative planes together with the corresponding differentials following the Wess-Zumino prescription. In all these constructions there appear non-standard features which are noted. Such features show the importance of systematic study of all bialgebras of four generators.

Exotic bialgebras : non-deformation quantum groups

In the classification of solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation, there are solutions that are not deformations of the trivial solution (essentially the identity). We consider the algebras defined by these solutions, and the corresponding dual algebras. We then study the representations of the latter. We are also interested in the Baxterisation of these $R$-matrices and in the corresponding quantum planes.

A nested sequence of projectors and corresponding braid matrices $\hat R(θ)$: (1) Odd dimensions

A basis of $N^2$ projectors, each an ${N^2}\times{N^2}$ matrix with constant elements, is implemented to construct a class of braid matrices $\hat{R}(θ)$, $θ$ being the spectral parameter. Only odd values of $N$ are considered here. Our ansatz for the projectors $P_α$ appearing in the spectral decomposition of $\hat{R}(θ)$ leads to exponentials $exp(m_αθ)$ as the coefficient of $P_α$. The sums and differences of such exponentials on the diagonal and the antidiagonal respectively provide the $(2N^2 -1)$ nonzero elements of $\hat{R}(θ)$. One element at the center is normalized to unity. A class of supplementary constraints imposed by the braid equation leaves ${1/2}(N+3)(N-1)$ free parameters $m_α$. The diagonalizer of $\hat{R}(θ)$ is presented for all $N$. Transfer matrices $t(θ)$ and $L(θ)$ operators corresponding to our $\hat{R}(θ)$ are studied. Our diagonalizer signals specific combinations of the components of the operators that lead to a quadratic algebra of $N^2$ constant $N\times N$ matrices. The $θ$-dependence factors out for such combinations. $\hat R(θ)$ is developed in a power series in $θ$. The basic difference arising for even dimensions is made explicit. Some special features of our $\hat{R}(θ)$ are discussed in a concluding section.

Canonical factorization and diagonalization of Baxterized braid matrices: Explicit constructions and applications

Braid matrices $\hat{R}(θ)$, corresponding to vector representations, are spectrally decomposed obtaining a ratio $f_{i}(θ)/f_{i}(-θ)$ for the coefficient of each projector $P_{i}$ appearing in the decomposition. This directly yields a factorization $(F(-θ))^{-1}F(θ)$ for the braid matrix, implying also the relation $\hat{R}(-θ)\hat{R}(θ)=I$.This is achieved for $GL_{q}(n),SO_{q}(2n+1),SO_{q}(2n),Sp_{q}(2n)$ for all $n$ and also for various other interesting cases including the 8-vertex matrix. We explain how the limits $θ\to \pm \infty$ can be interpreted to provide factorizations of the standard (non-Baxterized) braid matrices. A systematic approach to diagonalization of projectors and hence of braid matrices is presented with explicit constructions for $GL_{q}(2),GL_{q}(3),SO_{q}(3),SO_{q}(4),Sp_{q}(4)$ and various other cases such as the 8-vertex one. For a specific nested sequence of projectors diagonalization is obtained for all dimensions. In each factor $F(θ)$ our diagonalization again factors out all dependence on the spectral parameter $θ$ as a diagonal matrix. The canonical property implemented in the diagonalizers is mutual orthogonality of the rows. Applications of our formalism to the construction of $L-$operators and transfer matrices are indicated. In an Appendix our type of factorization is compared to another one proposed by other authors.

Higher order curvature generalisations of Bartnick-McKinnon and coloured black hole solutions in $d=5$

We construct globally regular as well as non-abelian black hole solutions of a higher order curvature Einstein-Yang-Mills (EYM) model in $d=5$ dimensions. This model consists of the superposition of the first two members of the gravitational hierarchy (Einstein plus first Gauss-Bonnet(GB)) interacting with the superposition of the first two members of the $SO(d)$ Yang--Mills hierarchy.

Duality and Representations for New Exotic Bialgebras

We find the exotic matrix bialgebras which correspond to the two non-triangular nonsingular 4x4 R-matrices in the classification of Hietarinta, namely, R_{S0,3} and R_{S1,4}. We find two new exotic bialgebras S03 and S14 which are not deformations of the of the classical algebras of functions on GL(2) or GL(1|1). With this we finalize the classification of the matrix bialgebras which unital associative algebras generated by four elements. We also find the corresponding dual bialgebras of these new exotic bialgebras and study their representation theory in detail. We also discuss in detail a special case of R_{S1,4} in which the corresponding algebra turns out to be a special case of the two-parameter quantum group deformation GL_{p,q}(2).

Nonlinear transforms of momenta and Planck scale limit

Starting with the generators of the Poincaré group for arbitrary mass (m) and spin (s) a nonunitary transformation is implemented to obtain momenta with an absolute Planck scale limit. In the rest frame (for $m>0$) the transformed energy coincides with the standard one, both being $m$. As the latter tends to infinity under Lorentz transformations the former tends to a finite upper limit $m\coth(lm) = l^{-1}+ O(l)$ where $l$ is the Planck length and the mass-dependent nonleading terms vanish exactly for zero rest mass. The invariant $m^{2}$ is conserved for the transformed momenta. The speed of light continues to be the absolute scale for velocities. We study various aspects of the kinematics in which two absolute scales have been introduced in this specific fashion. Precession of polarization and transformed position operators are among them. A deformation of the Poincaré algebra to the SO(4,1) deSitter one permits the implementation of our transformation in the latter case. A supersymmetric extension of the Poincaré algebra is also studied in this context.

Modified braid equations, Baxterizations and noncommutative spaces for the quantum groups $GL_{q}(N), SO_{q}(N)$ and $Sp_{q}(N)$

Modified braid equations satisfied by generalized ${\hat R}$ matrices (for a {\em given} set of group relations obeyed by the elements of ${\sf T}$ matrices ) are constructed for q-deformed quantum groups $GL_q (N), SO_q (N)$ and $Sp_q (N)$ with arbitrary values of $N$. The Baxterization of ${\hat R}$ matrices, treated as an aspect complementary to the {\em modification} of the braid equation, is obtained for all these cases in particularly elegant forms. A new class of braid matrices is discovered for the quantum groups $SO_{q}(N)$ and $Sp_{q}(N)$. The ${\hat R}$ matrices of this class, while being distinct from restrictions of the universal ${\hat{\cal R}}$ matrix to the corresponding vector representations, satisfy the standard braid equation. The modified braid equation and the Baxterization are obtained for this new class of ${\hat R}$ matrices. Diagonalization of the generalized ${\hat R}$ matrices is studied. The diagonalizers are obtained explicitly for some lower dimensional cases in a convenient way, giving directly the eigenvalues of the corresponding ${\hat R}$ matrices. Applications of such diagonalization are then studied in the context of associated covariantly quantized noncommutative spaces.

Non-factorisable metrics and Gauss--Bonnet terms in higher dimensions

An iterative construction of higher order Einstein tensors for a maximally Gauss-Bonnet extended gravitational Lagrangian was introduced in a previous paper. Here the formalism is extended to non-factorisable metrics in arbitrary ($d+1$) dimensions in the presence of superposed Gauss-Bonnet terms. Such a generalisation turns out to be remarkably convenient and elegant. Having thus obtained the variational equations we first construct bulk solutions, with nonzero and zero cosmological constant. It is also pointed out that in the absence of Gauss-Bonnet terms a Schwarzschild type solution can be obtained in the non-factorisable case. Two positive tension branes are then inserted and their tensions are obtained in terms of parameters in the warp factor. Relations to recent studies of several authors are pointed out.

Particle-like solutions to higher order curvature Einstein--Yang-Mills systems in d dimensions

We consider the superposition of the first two members of the gravitational hierarchy (Einstein plus first Gauss-Bonnet(GB)) interacting with the superposition of the first two members of the $SO_{(\pm)}(d)$ Yang--Mills hierarchy, in $d$ dimensions. Such systems can occur in the low energy effective action of string theory. Particle-like solutions %for the systems with only an Einstein term, and with only a GB term, in dimensions $d=6,8$ are constructed respectively. Our results reveal qualitatively new properties featuring double-valued solutions with critical behaviour. In this preliminary study, we have restricted ourselves to one-node solutions.

Jordanian Quantum Algebra ${\cal U}_{\sf h}(sl(N))$ via Contraction Method and Mapping

Using the contraction procedure introduced by us in Ref. \cite{ACC2}, we construct, in the first part of the present letter, the Jordanian quantum Hopf algebra ${\cal U}_{\sf h}(sl(3))$ which has a remarkably simple coalgebraic structure and contains the Jordanian Hopf algebra ${\cal U}_{\sf h}(sl(2))$, obtained by Ohn, as a subalgebra. A nonlinear map between ${\cal U}_{\sf h}(sl(3))$ and the classical $sl(3)$ algebra is then established. In the second part, we give the higher dimensional Jordanian algebras ${\cal U}_{\sf h}(sl(N))$ for all $N$. The Universal ${\cal R}_{\sf h}$-matrix of ${\cal U}_{\sf h} (sl(N))$ is also given.
