Quenched Supersymmetry

We study the effects of quenching in Super-Yang-Mills theory. While supersymmetry is broken, the lagrangian acquires a new flavour $U(1 \mid 1)$ symmetry. The anomaly structure thus differs from the unquenched case. We derive the corresponding low-energy effective lagrangian. As a consequence, we predict the mass splitting expected in numerical simulations for particles belonging to the lowest-lying supermultiplet.

B-parameters for $ΔS = 2$ SUSY Operators

We present the first lattice measurement, using Non Perturbative Renormalization Method, of the B-parameters of the dimension-six four-fermion operators relevant for the supersymmetric corrections to the $ΔS=2$ transitions.

Lattice B-parameters for $ΔS = 2$ and $ΔI = 3/2$ Operators

We compute several matrix elements of dimension-six four-fermion operators and extract their B-parameters. The calculations have been performed with the tree-level Clover action at $β= 6.0$. The renormalization constants and mixing coefficients of the lattice operators have been obtained non-perturbatively. In the $\MSbar$ renormalization scheme, at a renormalization scale $μ\simeq 2$ GeV, we find $B_K (B_9^{3/2}) = 0.66(11), B_7^{3/2} = 0.72(5)$ and $B_8^{3/2} = 1.03(3)$. The result for $B_8^{3/2}$ has important implications for the calculation of $ε^\prime / ε$.

Towards N=1 Super-Yang-Mills on the Lattice

We consider the lattice regularization of N=1 supersymmetric Yang--Mills theory with Wilson fermions. This formulation breaks supersymmetry at any finite lattice spacing; we discuss how Ward identities can be used to define a supersymmetric continuum limit, which coincides with the point where the gluino becomes massless. As a first step towards the understanding of the zero gluino-mass limit, we present results on the quenched low-lying spectrum of SU(2) N=1 Super-Yang--Mills, at $β=2.6$ on a $V=16^3 \times 32$ lattice, in the OZI approximation. Our results, in spite of the quenched and OZI approximations, are in remarkable agreement with theoretical predictions in the supersymmetric theory, for the states with masses which are not expected to get a large contribution from fermion loops.

Non-perturbative Renormalization of the Complete Basis of Four-fermion Operators and B-parameters

We present results on the B-parameters $B_K$, $B^{3/2}_7$ and $B^{3/2}_8$, at $β=6.0$, with the tree-level Clover action. The renormalization of the complete basis of dimension-six four-fermion operators has been performed non-perturbatively. Our results for $B_K$ and $B^{3/2}_7$ are in reasonable agreement with those obtained with the (unimproved) Wilson action. This is not the case for $B^{3/2}_8$. We also discuss some subtleties arising from a recently proposed modified definition of the B-parameters.

Quenched Spectroscopy for the N=1 Super-Yang-Mills Theory

We present results for the Quenched SU(2) N=1 Super-Yang-Mills spectrum at $β=2.6$, on a $V=16^3 \times 32$ lattice, in the OZI approximation. This is a first step towards the understanding of the chiral limit of lattice N=1 SUSY.

Phenomenological aspects of a Fermiophobic SU(2)xSU(2)xU(1) extension of the Standard Model

We consider an extension of the standard electroweak theory with gauge group $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{\tilde{Y}}$, where the gauge bosons of the extra $SU(2)_R$ factor do not couple to ordinary fermions. We show that precision electroweak data and flavour physics provide quite stringent indirect constraints on its parameter space, but still allow for relatively light non-standard gauge and Higgs bosons. We then consider the model phenomenology at high-energy colliders, and observe that in the gauge boson sector present bounds and possible future signals are dominated by $Z'$ production. In summary, indirect constraints on the charged gauge boson sector are so tight that observable new effects must be connected either with the neutral gauge boson sector or with the extended Higgs sector of the model.

Non-perturbative renormalization in kaon decays

We discuss the application of the MPSTV non-perturbative method \cite{NPM} to the operators relevant to kaon decays. This enables us to reappraise the long-standing question of the $ΔI=1/2$ rule, which involves power-divergent subtractions that cannot be evaluated in perturbation theory. We also study the mixing with dimension-six operators and discuss its implications to the chiral behaviour of the $B_K$ parameter.

Hybrid Molecular Dynamics for Lattice Supersymmetry

We present the first results obtained with a Hybrid Molecular Dynamics algorithm applied to an $N=1$ SU(2) Super-Yang--Mills on the lattice. We derive the Hamilton equations of motion for the system with Wilson gluinos and present preliminary results on small lattices.

One-loop corrections to the top, stop and gluino masses in the MSSM

We compute the one-loop radiative corrections to the masses of the top quark, the stop squarks and the gluino in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We include the loops controlled by the strong coupling constant and the top Yukawa coupling, neglecting those controlled by the $SU(2) \times U(1)$ gauge couplings and by other Yukawa couplings. We find that the significant scale-dependence of the renormalization-group-improved tree-level expressions is almost completely removed. Even for natural choices of the renormalization scale, corrections can be numerically relevant. Our results should allow more reliable predictions to be extracted from candidate fundamental theories beyond the MSSM.

Non-perturbative renormalization of the $ΔS=2$ operator and the heavy-light axial current

We apply a recently introduced non-perturbative renormalization method to two types of lattice operators: the $ΔS=2$ four fermion operator and the heavy-light static axial current, which are relevant for the physics of $K$ and $B$ mesons respectively. The results of the non-perturbative calculations of the renormalization constants are compared with the corresponding perturbative ones.

Chiral behaviour of the lattice $B_K$-parameter with the Wilson and Clover Actions at $β= 6.0$

We present results for the kaon $B$-parameter $B_K$ from a sample of $200$ configurations using the Wilson action and $460$ configurations using the SW-Clover action, on a $18^3 \times 64$ lattice at $β=6.0$. We compare results obtained by renormalizing the relevant operator with different ``boosted" values of the strong coupling constant $α_s$. In the case of the SW-Clover action, we also use the operator renormalized non-perturbatively. In the Wilson case, we observe a strong dependence of $B_K$ on the prescription adopted for $α_s$, contrary to the results of the Clover case which are almost unaffected by the choice of the coupling. We also find that the matrix element of the operator renormalized non-perturbatively has a better chiral behaviour. This gives us our best estimate of the renormalization group invariant $B$-parameter, $\hat B_K=0.86 \pm 0.15$.

Non-Perturbative Renormalisation of the Lattice $Δs=2$ Four-Fermion Operator

We compute the renormalised four-fermion operator $O^{ΔS=2}$ using a non-perturbative method recently introduced for determining the renormalisation constants of generic lattice composite operators. Because of the presence of the Wilson term, $O^{ΔS=2}$ mixes with operators of different chiralities. A projection method to determine the mixing coefficients is implemented. The numerical results for the renormalisation constants have been obtained from a simulation performed using the SW-Clover quark action, on a $16^3 \times 32$ lattice, at $β=6.0$. We show that the use of the constants determined non-perturbatively improves the chiral behaviour of the lattice kaon matrix element $\<\bar K^0| O^{ΔS=2} | K^0\>_{\latt}$.

Quenched $B_K$-parameter with the Wilson and Clover actions at $β= 6.0$

We present results for the Kaon $B$ parameter from a sample of $200$ configurations using the Wilson action and $460$ configurations using the Clover action, on a $18^3 \times 64$ lattice at $β=6.0$. A slight improvement of the chiral behaviour of $B_K$ is observed due to the Clover action. We have also compared the results for $B_K$ obtained from two different procedures for the boosting of the coupling constant $g$. We observe a strong dependence of $B_K$ on the prescription adopted for $g$ in the Wilson case, contrary to the results of the Clover case which are almost unaffected by the choice of $g$. Combining some recently obtained non perturbative estimates for the renormalisation constants with our Clover matrix element, we observe a significant improvement in the chiral behaviour of $B_K$.
