On the Numerical Study of the Complexity and Fractal Dimension of CMB Anisotropies

We consider the problem of numerical computation of the Kolmogorov complexity and the fractal dimension of the anisotropy spots of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation. Namely, we describe an algorithm of estimation of the complexity of spots given by certain pixel configuration on a grid and represent the results of computations for a series of structures of different complexity. Thus, we demonstrate the calculability of such an abstract descriptor as the Kolmogorov complexity for CMB digitized maps. The correlation of complexity of the anisotropy spots with their fractal dimension is revealed as well. This technique can be especially important while analyzing the data of the forthcoming space experiments.

Entropy production, energy dissipation and violation of Onsager relations in the steady glassy state

In a glassy system different degrees of freedom have well-separated characteristic times, and are described by different temperatures. The stationary state is essentially non-equilibrium. A generalized statistical thermodynamics is constructed and a universal variational principle is proposed. Entropy production and energy dissipation occur at a constant rate; there exists a universal relation between them, valid to leading order in the small ratio of the characteristic times. Energy dissipation (unlike entropy production) is closely connected to the fluctuations of the slow degree. Corrections due to a finite ratio of the times are obtained. Onsager relations in the context of heat transfer are also considered. They are always broken in glassy states, except close to equilibrium.

Model glasses coupled to two different heat baths

In a $p$-spin interaction spherical spin-glass model both the spins and the couplings are allowed to change in the course of time. The spins are coupled to a heat bath with temperature $T$, while the coupling constants are coupled to a bath having temperature $T_{J}$. In an adiabatic limit (where relaxation time of the couplings is much larger that of the spins) we construct a generalized two-temperature thermodynamics. It involves entropies of the spins and the coupling constants. The application for spin-glass systems leads to a standard replica theory with a non-vanishing number of replicas, $n=T/T_J$. For $p>2$ there occur at low temperatures two different glassy phases, depending on the value of $n$. The obtained first-order transitions have positive latent heat, and positive discontinuity of the total entropy. This is the essentially non-equilibrium effect. The predictions of longtime dynamics and infinite-time statics differ only for $n<1$ and $p>2$. For $p=2$ correlation of the disorder (leading to a non-zero $n$) removes the known marginal stability of the spin glass phase. If the observation time is very large there occurs no finite-temperature spin glass phase. In this case there are analogies with the broken-ergodicity dynamics in the usual spin-glass models and non-equilibrium (aging) dynamics. A generalized fluctuation-dissipation relation is derived.

About optimal measurements in quantum hypothesizes testing

We consider the problem of a state determination for a two-level quantum system which can be in one of two nonorthogonal mixed states. It is proved that for the two independent identical systems the optimal combined measurement (which considers the pair as one system) cannot be less optimal than the corresponding sequential one (local measurements, accompanying by transfer of classical information). The case of equality is achieved only when the mixed states have the same eigenvalues or the same eigenvectors. Further, we consider a case then the two systems are entangled: measurement of one system induces a reduction of the another one's state. The conclusion about optimal character of combined measurement takes place again, and conditions where the above-mentioned methods coincide are derived.

Spin-glass model with partially annealed asymmetric bonds

We have considered the two-spin interaction spherical spin-glass model with asymmetric bonds (coupling constants). Besides the usual interactions between spins and bonds and between the spins and a thermostat with temperature $T_σ$ there is also an additional factor: the bonds are not assumed random {\it a priori} but interact with some other thermostat at the temperature $T_{J}$. We show that when the bonds are frozen with respect to the spins a first order phase transition to a spin-glass phase occurs, and the temperature of this transition tends to zero if $T_J$ is large. Our analytical results show that a spin-glass phase can exist in mean-field models with nonrelaxational dynamics.

The broadcast quantum channel for classical information transmission

It is well known that quantum theory forbids the exact copying of an unknown quantum state. Therefore in broadcasting of classical information by a quantum channel an additional contribution to the error in the decoding is expected. We consider the optimal copying transformation which is adapted to classical information transmission by two linearly independent quantum states, and show that there is no additional contribution to the error. Instead the clones are correlated, and this breaks their usefulness: The entanglement increases with non-orthogonality of the states. The capacity of the corresponding quantum channel is considered also.

Multi-access channels in quantum information theory

The multi-access channels in quantum information theory are considered. Classical messages from independent sources, which are represented as some quantum states, are transported by a channel to one address. The messages can interact with each other and with external environment. After statement of problem and proving some general results we investigate physically important case when information is transported by states of electromagnetic field. One-way communication by noisy quantum channels is also considered.

Converse coding theorems for quantums source and noisy channel

The weak converse coding theorems have been proved for the quantum source and channel. The results give the lower bound for capacity of source and the upper bound for capacity of channel. The monotonicity of mutual quantum information have also been proved. PACS numbers: 03.65.Bz
