Study of the proccess $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-π^0π^0η$ in the c.m. energy range 1.6--2.0 GeV with the CMD-3 detector

The cross section of the process $e^+e^- \to π^+π^-π^0π^0η$ has been measured using a data sample with the integrated luminosity of 372 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. 6300$\pm$145 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6--2.0 GeV. The total systematic uncertainty of the cross section is about 10\%. The production dynamics is dominated by the $ω(782)π^0η$ final state with a possible small contribution of the $a_0(980)$ resonance in the $π^0η$ combination. We also observe a presence of the $ρ(770)^{\pm}$ resonance signal in the $π^{\pm}π^0$ invariant mass distribution.

Near-threshold resonances in $e^+e^-$ annihilation

Near-threshold resonances have been discovered in many hadron pair production processes, resulting in a significant increase in reaction cross sections at low relative velocities of the produced particles. The natural cause of such resonances is the interaction between slow hadrons in the final state. Our review demonstrates that, in virtually all known cases, final-state interactions successfully explain the results of numerous experiments demonstrating a nontrivial energy dependence of cross sections for processes near reaction thresholds. A comprehensive study of near-threshold resonances in various processes can provide new information about the interaction between hadrons at large distances.

Neutral kaon mass measurement with the CMD-3 derector at VEPP-2000

Using more than 600 thousand $K_{S}^{0}\toπ^{+}π^{-}$ decays from the $e^{+}e^{-}\toϕ(1020)\to K_{S}^{0}K_{L}^{0}$ reaction, the neutral kaon mass has been measured with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 collider. Using the beam energies control by the back-scattering laser light photons, and a calibration to the world average $ϕ$-meson mass, the neutral kaon mass is determind to be m($K^0$) = 497.587 $\pm$ 0.004(stat.) $\pm$ 0.008(syst.) $\pm$ 0.009(calibr.) \mevcc, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is the uncertainty from the energy calibration.

Evidence of the $e^+ e^-\to f_1(1285)$ reaction with the CMD-3 detector at VEPP-2000

A search for the $e^+ e^-\to f_1(1285)$ reaction is performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 collider. Data from a scan in the center-of-mass energy range Ec.m.=1.20--1.36 GeV with 109.1 pb$^{-1}$ of the integrated luminosity is used. A dedicated 51.7 pb$^{-1}$ have been collected at the $f_1(1285)$ resonance peak energy Ec.m.=1282 MeV, where $26.5 \pm 7.4$ events have been found in the $e^+ e^-\toηπ^0π^0$ reaction. No indication of the signal is observed in the scan data. We interpret the result as 4.5$σ$ evidence of the C-even resonance production in the $e^+ e^-\to f_1(1285)\toηπ^0π^0$ reaction via the two-photon interaction. The production cross section is found to be $σ(e^+ e^-\to f_1) = 0.074 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.010$ nb, and the corresponding branching fraction to the $e^+ e^-$ pair is $B(f_1(1285)\to e^+e^-) = (8.3 \pm 2.3 \pm 1.1)\times 10^{-9}$.

Relativistic effects in heavy mesons

We discuss the application of a relativistic potential model to the description of the spectrum and radiative transitions in mesons containing at least one heavy quark (b or c). Although the model has a small number of parameters, it is possible to achieve qualitative agreement with all available experimental data, including those that could not be explained by all previous methods. This demonstrates the importance of taking relativistic effects into account. A remarkable property of the relativistic potential model is that the predictions for meson masses and partial widths of radiative transitions remain finite in the limit of zero light quark mass.

The branching fraction measurements of $J/ψ$ decay into $ρη$ and $ϕη$ final states

We present measurements of the branching fractions for the $J/ψ$ meson decays into the $ρη$ and $ϕη$ final states, based on data collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M collider. The data set consisted of 4.93 million $J/ψ$ events. The resulting branching fractions are: - $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to ρη) = (2.04 \pm 0.58 \pm 0.39)\times 10^{-4}$, - $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to ϕη) = (7.82 \pm 1.17 \pm 0.58) \times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second one is systematic. In the study of the $ρη$ decay, the dynamics of $J/ψ\toπ^+π^-η$ is analyzed. The hints from contributions of $ρ(1450)η$ and $a^{\pm}_2π^{\mp}$ intermediate states are observed. Additional measured branching fractions in the model that includes $ρ(1450)η$ and $a^{\pm}_2π^{\mp}$ are: - $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to π^+π^-η) = (4.73 \pm 0.49 \pm 1.17)\times10^{-4}$, - $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to (a_2^+π^- + a_2^- π^+)) = (1.05\pm 0.37 \pm 0.34)\times 10^{-3}$, - $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to ρ(1450)η\to π^+π^-η) < 1.51 \times 10^{-4}$, at a confidence level of 90\%. All results are consistent with previous studies.

Relativistic effects in $\mbox{M1}$ radiative decays of heavy-light mesons

We discuss the $\mbox{M1}$ radiative transitions $D^*\rightarrow Dγ$, $D_{s}^*\rightarrow D_sγ$, $B^*\rightarrow Bγ$, and $B^*_{s}\rightarrow B_sγ$. A relativistic potential model is proposed. The corresponding Hamiltonian, when expanded to terms of the order of $v^2/c^2$, where $v$ are the quark velocities, coincides with the Breit Hamiltonian. This model allows making predictions for the widths of radiative transitions of mesons with one light quark. Taking into account relativistic effects is especially important for the transitions $D_{s}^{*+}\rightarrow D_s^+γ$ and $D^{*+}\rightarrow D^+γ$, where there is a large compensation in the magnitude of the magnetic moment of these mesons. Our results are consistent with known experimental data.

New measurement of D0 and D+ meson masses with the KEDR detector

Using the 4.9 pb$^{-1}$ statistics collected at the peak of the $ψ(3770)$ resonance with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M electron-positron collider, we measured the masses of the neutral and charged D mesons: $M_{D^0} = 1865.100 \pm 0.210 (stat) \pm 0.046 (syst) MeV,$ and $M_{D^+} = 1869.560 \pm 0.288 (stat) \pm 0.109 (syst) MeV$.

Phenomenology of $D_{s1}$ mesons radiative transitions

We discuss radiative transitions $D_{s1}\rightarrow D_sγ$ and $D_{s1}\rightarrow D_s^*γ$ of $p$-wave mesons. Since $D_{s1}$ mesons have no a certain $C$-parity, and the masses of quarks in these mesons differ significantly, then due to the spin-orbit interaction each of $p$-wave mesons with the total angular momentum $J=1$ is a superposition of states with the total spin of quarks $S_{tot}=0$ and $S_{tot}=1$. We explain why the partial width of $D_{s1}(2460)\to D_sγ$ radiative transition is significantly larger than the corresponding value for $D_{s1}(2536)\to D_sγ$. We also predict the corresponding partial widths of $B_{s1}$ and $B_{c1}$.

Measurement of the $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ cross section from threshold to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector

The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ has been measured in the center of mass energy range from 0.32 to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000. The measurement is based on a full dataset collected below 1 GeV during three data taking seasons, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 62 pb$^{-1}$. In the dominant $ρ$-resonance region, a systematic uncertainty of 0.7% has been reached. At energies around $ϕ$-resonance the $π^+π^-$ production cross section was measured for the first time with high beam energy resolution. The forward-backward charge asymmetry in the $π^+π^-$ production has also been measured. It shows a strong deviation from the theoretical prediction based on the conventional scalar quantum electrodynamics framework, and it is in good agreement with the generalized vector-meson-dominance and dispersive-based predictions. The impact of the presented results on the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of muon is discussed.

Measurement of the pion form factor with CMD-3 detector and its implication to the hadronic contribution to muon (g-2)

The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ has been measured in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.32 to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000. The measurement is based on an integrated luminosity of about 88 pb$^{-1}$, of which 62 pb$^{-1}$ represent a complete dataset collected by CMD-3 at center-of-mass energies below 1 GeV. In the dominant region near the $ρ$ resonance a systematic uncertainty of 0.7% was achieved. The implications of the presented results for the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon are discussed.

Coupled channels and production of near-threshold $B^{(*)}\bar{B}^{(*)}$ resonances in $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation

The effects of final-state interaction of hadrons, produced in $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation near the threshold, are discussed. If there is a loosely bound state or a virtual state in a system of produced hadrons, then the energy dependence of hadroproduction cross section is very strong. Our approach is based on the use of the effective potentials accounting for the interaction between hadrons in the final state. The cases of a few channels with nonzero transition amplitudes between them are considered. It is shown that these transitions drastically change the energy dependence of the cross sections. In particular, a narrow resonance below the threshold in one channel leads to a broad peak in another channel. We explained the non-trivial energy dependence of the production cross sections of $B\bar{B}$, $B^{*}\bar{B}$, $B\bar{B}^{*}$, $B^{*}\bar{B}^{*}$ near the thresholds in $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation and obtained good agreement between our predictions and the experimental data available.

Measurement of the branching fraction of $J/ψ\rightarrowρπ$ at KEDR

We present the study of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrow ρπ$. The results are based on of 5.2~million $J/ψ$ events collected by the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M collider. The branching fractions are measured to be $\B(J/ψ\rightarrow ρπ) = \big(2.072\pm 0.017 \pm 0.062 \big)\cdot 10^{-2}$ and $\B(J/ψ\rightarrow π^+π^-π^0) = \big(1.878 \pm 0.013 \pm 0.051 \big)\cdot 10^{-2}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Our results are more precise than the previous relative measurements.

Effects of isospin violation in the $e^+e^- \rightarrow B^{(*)}\bar B^{(*)}$ cross sections

Model estimates are obtained for the influence of Coulomb effects on the ratio of the cross sections for the production of charged and neutral $B\bar B$ and $B^*\bar B^*$ pairs in $e^+e^-$ annihilation. It is shown that the difference between the masses of charged and neutral mesons obtained under the assumption that this ratio is constant on a scale of the order of the beam energy spread can differ from the true one by $δM \sim 0.03\,\mbox{MeV}$ at the energy of $Υ(5S)$ and by $δM \sim 0.4\,\mbox{MeV}$ at the energy of $Υ(4S)$. Thus, the errors given in the PDG for the difference between the masses of charged and neutral $B$ mesons, based on the results obtained at the energy of $Υ(4S)$, are strongly underestimated. Similar measurements at the energy of $Υ(5S)$ will have an order of magnitude smaller systematic shift for the mass difference. This circumstance should be taken into account when planning future experiments at the $B$ factory in KEK.

X-ray signature of antistars in the Galaxy

The existence of macroscopic objects from antimatter (antistars) is envisaged in some models of baryogenesis. Searches for antistars has been usually carried out in gamma-rays through hadronic annihilation of matter. In astrophysically plausible cases of the interaction of neutral atmospheres or winds from antistars with ionized interstellar gas, the hadronic annihilation will be preceded by the formation of excited $p\bar p$ and He$\bar p$ atoms. These atoms rapidly cascade down to low levels prior to annihilation giving rise to a series of narrow lines which can be associated with the hadronic annihilation gamma-ray emission. The most significant are L (3p-2p) 1.73 keV line (yield more than 90\%) from $p\bar p$ atoms, and M (4-3) 4.86 keV (yield $\sim 60\% $) and L (3-2) 11.13 keV (yield about 25\%) lines from $^4$He$\bar p$ atoms. These lines can be probed in dedicated observations by forthcoming sensitive X-ray spectroscopic missions XRISM, \textit{Athena, \textit{Lynx}and in wide-field X-ray surveys like SRG/\textit{eROSITA} all-sky survey.

Charge asymmetry in decays $ B\rightarrow D\bar DK$

We discusses the charge asymmetry in $ B\rightarrow D\bar DK$ decays with an invariant mass of the $D\bar D$ pair near the $Ψ(3770)$ resonance. Unlike $ Ψ(3770) $ decays in $ e^+e^- $ annihilation, in $B^+$ decays the probability of $D^0\bar D^0$ production is almost three times higher than $D^+ D^-$. In $B^0$ decays, the ratio of these probabilities will be opposite. The effect is explained by the fact that, in $B$ -meson decays, the $D\bar D$ pair is produced in a superposition of isoscalar and isovector states, and only in combination with $K$ -mesons the total state has $ 1/2 $ isospin. We present a simple model in which the interference of the nonresonant isovector amplitude with the resonant isoscalar amplitude explains the experimental data.

Charged particle identification with the liquid xenon calorimeter of the CMD-3 detector

The paper describes a method of the charged particle identification, developed for the \mbox{CMD-3} detector, installed at the VEPP-2000 $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The method is based on the application of the boosted decision trees classifiers, trained for the optimal separation of electrons, muons, pions and kaons in the momentum range from 100 to $1200~{\rm MeV}/c$. The input variables for the classifiers are linear combinations of the energy depositions of charged particles in 12 layers of the liquid xenon calorimeter of the \mbox{CMD-3}. The event samples for training of the classifiers are taken from the simulation. Various issues of the detector response tuning in simulation and calibration of the calorimeter strip channels are considered. Application of the method is illustrated by the examples of separation of the $e^+e^-(γ)$ and $π^+π^-(γ)$ final states and of selection of the $K^+K^-$ final state at high energies.
