Three-Nucleon Dynamics in the dp breakup collisions at 190 MeV/nucleon using the WASA detector at COSY-J\"{u}lich

The differential cross section for the $^{1}$H$(d,pp)n$ breakup reaction at deuteron beam energy of 380 MeV has been determined with high precision for 189 angular configurations of outgoing protons in the region of forward laboratory angles. The cross section data were compared to theoretical predictions based on the state-of-the-art nucleon-nucleon potentials, combined with a three-nucleon force, the Coulomb interaction or carried out in a relativistic approach. In the region of the lowest differential cross section, the discrepancy between the data and the theoretical predictions is observed, also in the case of relativistic calculations.

Anomalous lattice anharmonicity and spin-lattice coupling in spin orbit coupled halide K2IrBr6

The interplay between lattice distortions, magnetism, and spin-orbit coupling in 5d transition-metal halides offers a fertile platform for exploring correlated spin-lattice dynamics. Here, we investigate the impact of structural symmetry breaking on lattice vibrations and local spin environments in the antifluorite compound K2IrBr6 using temperature dependent Raman spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and first-principles lattice dynamics calculations. K2IrBr6 undergoes successive cubic-to-tetragonal and tetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transitions at 170 K and 122 K, respectively, driven by cooperative distortions of the IrBr6 octahedra. Raman spectroscopy reveals anomalous phonon linewidth broadening and unconventional temperature dependence of phonon energies near these transitions, indicating that dynamic spin-phonon coupling is significant well above the Neel temperature (16 K). First-principles phonon calculations support the mode assignments and demonstrate that symmetry-lowering distortions significantly renormalize vibrational modes, consistent with the experimental observations. Complementary EPR measurements detect anisotropic g-factors, resonance field shifts, and linewidth narrowing across the structural transitions, reflecting the emergence of static spin-lattice correlations mediated by spin-orbit entanglement. These findings establish K2IrBr6 as a model system where halide ligand fields, octahedral distortions, and SOC collaboratively govern spin-lattice coupling, providing chemical pathways to engineer quantum materials with tunable magnetic and lattice responses.

First identification of a doublet wobbling excitation mode in $^{105}$Pd

An experimental investigation of $^{105}$Pd has revealed, for the first time, the existence of two wobbling bands, both having one phonon configuration and originating from excitation which is the wobbling from the yrast band with the $h_{11/2}$ quasineutron fully aligned with the short axis, and from an excited band with the same quasineutron but with less alignment along the short axis. These observations have been drawn from the measured ratios of the inter-band and intra-band gamma transition rates. Model calculations based on the triaxial projected shell model (TPSM) approach have been performed and are found to be in good agreement with the experimental energies and relative transition probabilities. The analysis of the TPSM results provides an insight into the nature of the observed structures at a microscopic level.

Existance of octupole correlation in 116Sn

The negative parity states in 116Sn have been investigated in terms of octupole correlation. The same is probed by using the Indian National Gamma Array (INGA) facility at Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata using the reaction, 114Cd(α,2n) 116Sn at 34 MeV energy. Three new γ-transitions relevant to the present investigation are reported and the spin-parities of the associated levels are assigned based on the DCO-ratios and polarisation measurements. The interband transitions between the positive parity ground band and the negative parity band are newly observed and the corresponding extracted ratio of transition probability, B(E1)/B(E2) indicated the existence of octupole correlation in these nuclei. The enhanced transition rates for E1 and E3 transitions between these opposite parity bands and corroboration of soft octupole deformation ultimately aid the onset of octupole excitation in this isotope.

Search for the origin of wobbling motion in the $ A \approx 130 $ region: The case of $^{131}$Xe

In-beam $ γ$-ray spectroscopy of $^{131}$Xe has been carried out to study the structure of the intruder $ νh_{11/2} $ band. Excited states were populated via an $ α$-induced fusion-evaporation reaction at E$ _α = 38 $ MeV. Inspection of $ γγ$-coincidence data resulted in the identification of a new rotational sequence. Based on the systematics of excitation energy, assigned spin-parity, decay pattern, and the electromagnetic character of the inter-band $ ΔI = 1 $ $ γ$-transitions, this sequence is proposed as the unfavoured signature partner of the $ νh_{11/2} $ band. The structure of this band is further illuminated in the light of the triaxial particle rotor model (TPRM). The possibility of wobbling excitation in $ N = 77 $ Xe-Ba-Ce isotones has been explored in a systematic manner.

Shape evolution in the rapidly rotating $^{140}$Gd nucleus

Ground state band of $^{140}$Gd has been investigated following their population in the $^{112}$Sn($^{35}$Cl,~$α$p2n)$^{140}$Gd reaction at 195 MeV of beam energy using a large array of Compton suppressed HPGe clovers as the detection setup. Apart from other spectroscopic measurements, level lifetimes of the states have been extracted using the Doppler Shift Attenuation Method. Extracted quadrupole moment along with the pairing independent cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky model calculations for the quadrupole band reveal that the nucleus preferably attains triaxiality with $γ$ = -30$^\circ$. The calculation though shows a slight possibility of rotation around the longest possible principal axis at high spin $\sim$ 30$\hbar$ which is beyond the scope of the present experiment.

Study of Chemically Peculiar Stars-I : High-resolution Spectroscopy and K2 Photometry of Am Stars in the Region of M44

We present a study based on the high-resolution spectroscopy and K2 space photometry of five chemically peculiar stars in the region of the open cluster M44. The analysis of the high-precision photometric K2 data reveals that the light variations in HD 73045 and HD 76310 are rotational in nature and caused by spots or cloud-like co-rotating structures, which are non-stationary and short-lived. The time-resolved radial velocity measurements, in combination with the K2 photometry, confirm that HD 73045 does not show any periodic variability on timescales shorter than 1.3 d, contrary to previous reports in the literature. In addition to these new rotational variables, we discovered a new heartbeat system, HD 73619, where no pulsational signatures are seen. The spectroscopic and spectropolarimetric analyses indicate that HD 73619 belongs to the peculiar Am class, with either a weak or no magnetic field considering the 200 G detection limit of our study. The Least-Squares Deconvolution (LSD) profiles for HD 76310 indicate a complex structure in its spectra suggesting that this star is either part of a binary system or surrounded by a cloud shell. When placed in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, all studied stars are evolved from main-sequence and situated in the $δ$ Scuti instability strip. The present work is relevant for further detailed studies of CP stars, such as inhomogeneities (including spots) in the absence of magnetic fields and the origin of the pulsational variability in heartbeat systems.

Orbital solutions derived from radial velocities and time delays for four {\it Kepler} systems with A/F-type (candidate) hybrid pulsators

The presence of A/F-type {\it Kepler} hybrid stars extending across the entire $δ$ Sct-$γ$ Dor instability strips and beyond remains largely unexplained. In order to better understand these particular stars, we performed a multi-epoch spectroscopic study of 49 candidate A/F-type hybrid stars and one cool(er) hybrid object detected by the {\it Kepler} mission. We determined a lower limit of 27 % for the multiplicity fraction. For six spectroscopic systems, we also reported long-term variations of the time delays. For four systems, the time delay variations are fully coherent with those of the radial velocities and can be attributed to orbital motion. We aim to improve the orbital solutions for those systems with long orbital periods (order of 4-6 years) among the {\it Kepler} hybrid stars. The orbits are computed based on a simultaneous modelling of the RVs obtained with high-resolution spectrographs and the photometric time delays derived from time-dependent frequency analyses of the {\it Kepler} light curves. We refined the orbital solutions of four spectroscopic systems with A/F-type {\it Kepler} hybrid component stars: KIC 4480321, 5219533, 8975515 and KIC 9775454. Simultaneous modelling of both data types analysed together enabled us to improve the orbital solutions, obtain more robust and accurate information on the mass ratio, and identify the component with the short-period $δ$ Sct-type pulsations. In several cases, we were also able to derive new constraints for the minimum component masses. From a search for regular frequency patterns in the high-frequency regime of the Fourier transforms of each system, we found no evidence of tidal splitting among the triple systems with close (inner) companions. However, some systems exhibit frequency spacings which can be explained by the mechanism of rotational splitting.

Large back-angle quasielastic scattering for $^{7}$Li+$^{159}$Tb

Quasielastic scattering excitation function at large backward angle has been measured for the weakly bound system, $^{7}$Li+$^{159}$Tb at energies around the Coulomb barrier. The corresponding quasielastic barrier distribution has been derived from the excitation function, both including and excluding the $α$-particles produced in the reaction. The centroid of the barrier distribution obtained after inclusion of $α$-particles was found to be shifted higher in energy, compared to the distribution excluding the $α$-particles. The quasielastic data, excluding the $α$-particles, have been analyzed in the framework of continuum discretized coupled channel calculations. The quasielastic barrier distribution for $^{7}$Li+$^{159}$Tb, has also been compared with the fusion barrier distribution for the system.

Search for the $η$ mesic $^3$He in the $pd\rightarrow d p π^{0}$ reaction with the WASA-at-COSY facility

The excitation function for the $pd\rightarrow$ $d p π^{0}$ reaction has been measured by WASA-at-COSY experiment with the aim of searching for $^{3}\hspace{-0.03cm}\mbox{He}$-$η$ mesic nuclei. The measurement in the vicinity of $η$ meson production was performed using a ramped proton beam. The data analysis and interpretation was carried out with the assumption that the $η$-mesic Helium decays via the formation of an intermediate N$^{*}$(1535) resonance. No direct signal of the $η$-mesic nucleus is observed in the excitation function. We determine a new improved upper limit for the total cross section for the bound state production and decay in the $pd\rightarrow$ $(^{3}\hspace{-0.03cm}\mbox{He}$-$η)_{bound} \rightarrow$ $d p π^{0}$ process. It varies between 13 nb to 24 nb for the bound state with width in the range $Γ\in (5,50)$ MeV.

First Observation of Multiple Transverse Wobbling Bands of Different Kinds in $^{183}$Au

We report the first observation of two wobbling bands in $^{183}$Au, both of which were interpreted as the transverse wobbling (TW) band but with different behavior of their wobbling energies as a function of spin. It increases (decreases) with spin for the positive (negative) parity configuration. The crucial evidence for the wobbling nature of the bands, dominance of the $E2$ component in the $ΔI = 1$ transitions between the partner bands, is provided by the simultaneous measurements of directional correlation from the oriented states (DCO) ratio and the linear polarization of the $γ$ rays. Particle rotor model calculations with triaxial deformation reproduce the experimental data well. A value of spin, $I_m$, has been determined for the observed TW bands below which the wobbling energy increases and above which it decreases with spin. The nucleus $^{183}$Au is, so far, the only nucleus in which both the increasing and the decreasing parts are observed and thus gives the experimental evidence of the complete transverse wobbling phenomenon.

Differential Cross Sections for Neutron-Proton Scattering in the Region of the $d^*(2380)$ Dibaryon Resonance

Differential cross sections have been extracted from exclusive and kinematically complete high-statistics measurements of quasifree polarized $\vec{n}p$ scattering performed in the energy region of the $d^*(2380)$ dibaryon resonance covering the the range of beam energies $T_n$ = 0.98 - 1.29 GeV ($\sqrt s$ = 2.32 - 2.44 GeV). The experiment was carried out with the WASA-at-COSY setup having a polarized deuteron beam impinged on the hydrogen pellet target and utilizing the quasifree process $dp \to np + p_{spectator}$. That way the $np$ differential cross section $σ(Θ)$ was measured over a large angular range. The obtained angular distributions complement the corresponding analyzing power $A_y(Θ)$ measurements published previously. A SAID partial-wave analysis incorporating the new data strengthens the finding of a resonance pole in the coupled $^3D_3 - ^3G_3$ waves.

Quasi-$γ$ band in $^{\text{114}}$Te

The low-lying non-yrast states in $^{114}$Te have been investigated using the Indian National Gamma Array through the fusion-evaporation reaction $^{112}$Sn($^{4}$He, 2n) at a beam energy of 37 MeV. Eight new $γ$-transitions have been placed in the level scheme to establish the quasi-$γ$ band in this nucleus. Spin and parity of several excited states have been assigned from the present spectroscopy measurements. The comparison of experimental results on the observed bands with the Interacting Boson Model (IBM) and Triaxial Projected Shell Model (TPSM) confirming the existence of the quasi-$γ$ band structure in the $^{114}$Te nucleus.

Search for eta mesic 3He with the WASA-at-COSY facility in the pd-> 3He 2gamma and pd-> 3He 6gamma reactions

We report on the experimental search for the bound state of an $η$ meson and $^{3}\hspace{-0.03cm}\mbox{He}$ nucleus performed using the WASA-at-COSY detector setup. In order to search for the $η$-mesic nucleus decay, the $pd\rightarrow$ $^{3}\hspace{-0.03cm}\mbox{He} 2γ$ and $pd\rightarrow$ $^{3}\hspace{-0.03cm}\mbox{He} 6γ$ channels have been analysed. These reactions manifest the direct decay of $η$ meson bound in $^{3}\hspace{-0.03cm}\mbox{He}$ nucleus. This non-mesonic decay channel has been considered for the first time. When taking into account only statistical errors, the obtained excitation functions reveal a slight indication for a possible bound state signal corresponding to an $^3$He-$η$ nucleus width $Γ$ above 20 MeV and binding energy $B_s$ between 0 and 15 MeV. However, the determined cross sections are consistent with zero in the range of the systematic uncertainty. Therefore, as final result we estimate only the upper limit for the cross section of the $η$-mesic $^{3}\hspace{-0.03cm}\mbox{He}$ nucleus formation followed by the $η$ meson decay which varies between $2$ nb and $15$ nb depending on possible bound state parameters.

Spectroscopy of $^{196}$Hg using Digital INGA at VECC, Kolkata

Spectroscopic investigation of the $^{196}$Hg (Z=80, N=116) was carried out using the Indian National Gamma Array (INGA) setup at the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata. Analysis of the acquired data led to the identification of new $γ$-ray transitions and levels in the excitation pattern of the nucleus along with the spin-parity assignments thereof. The latter were either previously absent or had been tentatively identified. Theoretical interpretation of the level structure obtained from these efforts can be pursued with appropriate model calculations.

Extremely asymmetric shears band in 143Sm

A dipole sequence has been observed and investigated in the 143 Sm nucleus populated through the heavy-ion induced fusion-evaporation reaction and studied using the Indian National Gamma Array (INGA) as the detection system. The sequence has been established as a Magnetic Rotation (MR) band primarily from lifetime measurements of the band members using the Doppler Shift Attenuation Method (DSAM). A configuration based on nine quasiparticles, with highly asymmetric angular momentum blades, has been assigned to the shears band in the light of the theoretical calculations within the framework of Shears mechanism with the Principal Axis Cranking (SPAC) model. This is hitherto the maximum number of quasiparticles along with the highest asymmetricity associated with a MR band. Further, as it has followed from the SPAC calculations, the contribution of the core rotation to the angular momentum of this shears band is substantial and greater than in any other similar sequence, at least in the neighbouring nuclei. This band can thus be perceived as a unique phenomenon of shears mechanism in operation at the limits of quasiparticle excitations, as manifested in MR band-like phenomena, evolving into collectivity.

On the Production of an Isotensor Dibaryon in the $pp \to ppπ^+π^-$ Reaction

Exclusive measurements of the quasi-free $pp \to ppπ^+π^-$ reaction have been performed by means of $pd$ collisions at $T_p$ = 1.2 GeV using the WASA detector setup at COSY. Total and differential cross sections have been obtained covering the energy region $T_p = 1.08 - 1.36$ GeV ($\sqrt s$ = 2.35 - 2.46 GeV), which includes the regions of $N^*(1440)$ and $Δ(1232)Δ(1232)$ resonance excitations. Calculations describing these excitations by $t$-channel meson exchange are at variance with experimental differential cross sections and underpredict substantially the measured total cross section. An isotensor $ΔN$ dibaryon resonance with $I(J^P) = 2(1^+)$ produced associatedly with a pion is able to overcome these deficiencies. Such a dibaryon was predicted by Dyson and Xuong and more recently calculated by Gal and Garcilazo.
