Compact Bloch mappings on the complex unit disc

The known duality of the space of Bloch complex-valued functions on the open complex unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ is addressed under a new approach with the introduction of the concepts of Bloch molecules and Bloch-free Banach space of $\mathbb{D}$. We introduce the notion of compact Bloch mapping from $\mathbb{D}$ to a complex Banach space and establish its main properties: invariance by Möbius transformations, linearization from the Bloch-free Banach space of $\mathbb{D}$, factorization of their derivatives, inclusion properties, Banach ideal property and transposition on the Bloch function space. We state Bloch versions of the classical theorems of Schauder, Gantmacher and Davis-Figiel-Johnson-Pelczyński.

On p-summability in weighted Banach spaces of holomorphic functions

Given an open subset $U$ of a complex Banach space $E$, a weight $v$ on $U$, and a complex Banach space $F$, let $\Hv(U,F)$ denote the Banach space of all weighted holomorphic mappings $f\colon U\to F$, under the weighted supremum norm $\left\|f\right\|_v:=\sup\left\{v(x)\left\|f(x)\right\|\colon x\in U\right\}$. In this paper, we introduce and study the class $Π_p^{\Hv}(U,F)$ of $p$-summing weighted holomorphic mappings. We prove that it is an injective Banach ideal of weighted holomorphic mappings. Variants for weighted holomorphic mappings of Pietsch Domination Theorem, Pietsch Factorization Theorem and Maurey Extrapolation Theorem are presented. We also identify the spaces of $p$-summing weighted holomorphic mappings from $U$ into $F^*$ under the norm $π^{\Hv}_p$ with the duals of $F$-valued $\Hv$-molecules on $U$ under a suitable version $d^{\Hv}_{p^*}$ of the Chevet--Saphar tensor norms.

A-compact holomorphic Lipschitz mappings on the unit ball of a Banach space

Let X and Y be complex Banach spaces, B_X be the open unit ball of X and HL(B_X,Y) be the Banach space of all holomorphic Lipschitz maps f:B_X->Y such that f(0)=0, endowed with the Lipschitz norm. Given a Banach operator ideal A, we use the property of A-compactness by Carl and Stephani to introduce and study the subclass of those functions in HL(B_X,Y) for which its Lipschitz image is a relatively A-compact subset of Y. We focus our attention on its structure as a composition Banach holomorphic Lipschitz ideal by using its connection with A-compact linear operators through linearization/transposition techniques.

Lipschitz interpolating sequences

Let $X$ be a metric space with a base point $0$, and let $\mathrm{Lip}_0(X)$ be the Banach space of all Lipschitz functions $f:X\longrightarrow \mathbb R$ such that $f(0)=0$. Given a set of points $\left((x_i,y_i)\right)_{i\in I}$ in $X^2$ with $x_i\neq y_i$ for all $i\in I$, we study the following interpolation problem: when for each bounded set $\left(α_i\right)_{i\in I}$ in $\mathbb{R}$ the algorithm $$ \frac{f(x_i)-f(y_i)}{d(x_i,y_i)}=α_i\qquad (i\in I) $$ can be implemented by a function $f\in\mathrm{Lip}_0(X)$? Our approach involves the concept of a Beurling set of functions in $\mathrm{Lip}_0(X)$ for $\left((x_i,y_i)\right)_{i\in I}$ which has shown to be useful in the so-called transportation problem.

Surjective isometries on function spaces with derivatives

Let $A$ be a complex Banach space with a norm $\|f\|=\|f\|_X+\|d(f)\|_Y$ for $f\in A$, where $d$ is a complex linear map from $A$ onto a Banach space $B$, and $\|\cdot\|_K$ represents the supremum norm on a compact Hausdorff space $K$. In this paper, we characterize surjective isometries on $(A,\|\cdot\|)$, which may be nonlinear. This unifies former results on surjective isometries between specific function spaces.

The injective hull of ideals of weighted holomorphic mappings

We study the injectivity of normed ideals of weighted holomorphic mappings. To be more precise, the concept of injective hull of normed weighted holomorphic ideals is introduced and characterized in terms of a domination property. The injective hulls of those ideals -- generated by the procedures of composition and dual -- are described and these descriptions are applied to some examples of such ideals. A characterization of the closed injective hull of an operator ideal in terms of an Ehrling-type inequality -- due to Jarchow and Pelczyński -- is established for weighted holomorphic mappings.

Factorization of Bloch mappings through a Hilbert space

We introduce the concept of vector-valued holomorphic mappings on the complex unit disc that factor through a Hilbert space and state the main properties of the space formed by such Bloch mappings equipped with a natural norm: linearization, Bloch transposition, surjective and injective Banach ideal property, Kwapien-type characterization by Bloch domination, and duality.

Weighted holomorphic mappings associated with p-compact type sets

Given an open subset $U$ of a complex Banach space $E$, a weight $v$ on $U$, and a complex Banach space $F$, let $\mathcal{H}^\infty_v(U,F)$ denote the Banach space of all weighted holomorphic mappings $f\colon U\to F$, under the weighted supremum norm $\left\|f\right\|_v:=\sup\left\{v(x)\left\|f(x)\right\|\colon x\in U\right\}$. In this paper, we introduce and study the classes of weighted holomorphic mappings $\mathcal{H}^\infty_{v\mathcal{K}_{p}}(U,F)$ (resp., $\mathcal{H}^\infty_{v\mathcal{K}_{wp}}(U,F)$ and $\mathcal{H}^\infty_{v\mathcal{K}_{up}}(U,F)$) for which the set $(vf)(U)$ is relatively $p$-compact (resp., relatively weakly $p$-compact and relatively unconditionally $p$-compact). We prove that these mapping classes are characterized by $p$-compact (resp., weakly $p$-compact and unconditionally $p$-compact) linear operators defined on a Banach predual space of $\mathcal{H}^\infty_v(U)$ by linearization. We show that $\mathcal{H}^\infty_{v\mathcal{K}_{p}}$ (resp., $\mathcal{H}^\infty_{v\mathcal{K}_{wp}}$ and $\mathcal{H}^\infty_{v\mathcal{K}_{up}}$) is a Banach ideal of weighted holomorphic mappings which is generated by composition with the ideal of $p$-compact (resp., weakly $p$-compact and unconditionally $p$-compact) linear operators and contains the Banach ideal of all right $p$-nuclear weighted holomorphic mappings. We also prove that these weighted holomorphic mappings can be factorized through a quotient space of $l_{p^*}$, and $f\in\mathcal{H}^\infty_{v\mathcal{K}_{p}}(U,F)$ (resp., $f\in\mathcal{H}^\infty_{v\mathcal{K}_{up}}(U,F))$ if and only if its transposition $f^t$ is quasi $p$-nuclear (resp., quasi unconditionally $p$-nuclear).

p-Summing Bloch mappings on the complex unit disc

The notion of $p$-summing Bloch mapping from the complex unit open disc $\mathbb{D}$ into a complex Banach space $X$ is introduced for any $1\leq p\leq\infty$. It is shown that the linear space of such mappings, equipped with a natural seminorm $π^{\mathbb{B}}_p$, is Möbius-invariant. Moreover, its subspace consisting of all those mappings which preserve the zero is an injective Banach ideal of normalized Bloch mappings. Bloch versions of the Pietsch's domination/factorization Theorem and the Maurey's extrapolation Theorem are presented. We also introduce the spaces of $X$-valued Bloch molecules on $\mathbb{D}$ and identify the spaces of normalized $p$-summing Bloch mappings from $\mathbb{D}$ into $X^*$ under the norm $π^{\mathbb{B}}_p$ with the duals of such spaces of molecules under the Bloch version of the $p$-Chevet--Saphar tensor norms $d_p$.

The Bishop--Phelps--Bollobás property for weighted holomorphic mappings

Given an open subset $U$ of a complex Banach space $E$, a weight $v$ on $U$ and a complex Banach space $F$, let $H^\infty_v(U,F)$ denote the Banach space of all weighted holomorphic mappings from $U$ into $F$, endowed with the weighted supremum norm. We introduce and study a version of the Bishop--Phelps--Bollobás property for $H^\infty_v(U,F)$ ($WH^\infty$-BPB property, for short). A result of Lindenstrauss type with sufficient conditions for $H^\infty_v(U,F)$ to have the $WH^\infty$-BPB property for every space $F$ is stated. This is the case of $H^\infty_{v_p}(\mathbb{D},F)$ with $p\geq 1$, where $v_p$ is the standard polynomial weight on $\mathbb{D}$. The study of the relations of the $WH^\infty$-BPB property for the complex and vector-valued cases is also addressed as well as the extension of the cited property for mappings $f\in H^\infty_v(U,F)$ such that $vf$ has relatively compact range in $F$.

On holomorphic mappings with relatively $p$-compact range

Related to the concept of $p$-compact operator with $p\in [1,\infty]$ introduced by Sinha and Karn, this paper deals with the space $\mathcal{H}^\infty_{\mathcal{K}_p}(U,F)$ of all Banach-valued holomorphic mappings on an open subset $U$ of a complex Banach space $E$ whose ranges are relatively $p$-compact subsets of $F$. We characterize such holomorphic mappings as those whose Mujica's linearisations on the canonical predual of $\mathcal{H}^\infty(U)$ are $p$-compact operators. This fact allows us to make a complete study of them. We show that $\mathcal{H}^\infty_{\mathcal{K}_p}$ is a surjective Banach ideal of bounded holomorphic mappings which is generated by composition with the ideal of $p$-compact operators and contains the Banach ideal of all right $p$-nuclear holomorphic mappings. We also characterize holomorphic mappings with relatively $p$-compact ranges as those bounded holomorphic mappings which factorize through a quotient space of $\ell_{p^*}$ or as those whose transposes are quasi $p$-nuclear operators (respectively, factor through a closed subspace of $\ell_p$).

On composition ideals and dual ideals of bounded holomorphic mappings

Applying a linearization theorem due to J. Mujica, we study the ideals of bounded holomorphic mappings $\mathcal{H}^\infty\circ\mathcal{I}$ generated by composition with an operator ideal $\mathcal{I}$. The bounded-holomorphic dual ideal of $\mathcal{I}$ is introduced and its elements are characterized as those that admit a factorization through $\mathcal{I}^\mathrm{dual}$. For complex Banach spaces $E$ and $F$, we also analyze new ideals of bounded holomorphic mappings from an open subset $U\subseteq E$ to $F$ such as $p$-integral holomorphic mappings and $p$-nuclear holomorphic mappings with $1\leq p<\infty$. We prove that every $p$-integral ($p$-nuclear) holomorphic mapping from $U$ to $F$ has relatively weakly compact (compact) range.

On holomorphic mappings with compact type range

Using Mujica's linearization theorem, we extend to the holomorphic setting some classical characterizations of compact (weakly compact, Rosenthal, Asplund) linear operators between Banach spaces such as the Schauder, Gantmacher and Gantmacher-Nakamura theorems and the Davis-Figiel-Johnson-Pelczynski, Rosenthal and Asplund factorization theorems.

Cohen strongly p-summing holomorphic mappings on Banach spaces

Let $E$ and $F$ be complex Banach spaces, $U$ be an open subset of $E$ and $1\leq p\leq\infty$. We introduce and study the notion of a Cohen strongly $p$-summing holomorphic mapping from $U$ to $F$, a holomorphic version of a strongly $p$-summing linear operator. For such mappings, we establish both Pietsch domination/factorization theorems and analyse their linearizations from $\mathcal{G}^\infty(U)$ (the canonical predual of $\mathcal{H}^\infty(U)$) and their transpositions on $\mathcal{H}^\infty(U)$. Concerning the space $\mathcal{D}_p^{\mathcal{H}^\infty}(U,F)$ formed by such mappings and endowed with a natural norm $d_p^{\mathcal{H}^\infty}$, we show that it is a regular Banach ideal of bounded holomorphic mappings generated by composition with the ideal of strongly $p$-summing linear operators. Moreover, we identify the space $(\mathcal{D}_p^{\mathcal{H}^\infty}(U,F^*),d_p^{\mathcal{H}^\infty})$ with the dual of the completion of tensor product space $\mathcal{G}^\infty(U)\otimes F$ endowed with the Chevet--Saphar norm $g_p$.

On 2-local diameter-preserving maps between C(X)-spaces

The 2-locality problem of diameter-preserving maps between C(X)-spaces is addressed in this paper. For any compact Hausdorff space X with at least three points, we give an example of a 2-local diameter-preserving map on C(X) which is not linear. However, we show that for first countable compact Hausdorff spaces X and Y, every 2-local diameter-preserving map from C(X) to C(Y) is linear and surjective up to constants in some sense. This yields the 2-algebraic reflexivity of isometries with respect to the diameter norms on the quotient spaces.

Isometric composition operators on Lipschitz spaces

Given pointed metric spaces $X$ and $Y$, we characterize the basepoint-preserving Lipschitz maps $ϕ$ from $Y$ to $X$ inducing an isometric composition operator $C_ϕ$ between the Lipschitz spaces $Lip_0(X)$ and $Lip_0(Y)$, whenever $X$ enjoys the peak property. This gives an answer to a question posed by N. Weaver in his book [Lipschitz algebras. Second edition. World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd., Hackensack, NJ, 2018].

Duality for ideals of Lipschitz maps

We develop a systematic approach to the study of duality for ideals of Lipschitz maps from a metric space to a Banach space, inspired by the classical theory that relates ideals of operators and tensor norms for Banach spaces, by using the Lipschitz tensor products previously introduced by the same authors. We first study spaces of Lipschitz maps, from a metric space to a dual Banach space, that can be represented canonically as the dual of a Lipschitz tensor product endowed with a Lipschitz cross-norm. We show that several known examples of ideals of Lipschitz maps (Lipschitz maps, Lipschitz $p$-summing maps and maps admitting a Lipschitz factorization through a subset of an $L_p$ space) admit such a representation, and more generally we characterize when a space of Lipschitz maps from a metric space to a dual Banach space is in canonical duality with a Lipschitz cross-norm. Furthermore, we give conditions on the Lipschitz cross-norm that are almost equivalent to the space of Lipschitz maps having an ideal property. We introduce a concept of operators which are approximable with respect to one of these ideals of Lipschitz maps, and identify them in terms of tensor-product notions. Finally, we also prove a Lipschitz version of the representation theorem for maximal operator ideals. This allows us to relate Lipschitz cross-norms to ideals of Lipschitz maps taking values in general Banach spaces, and not just dual spaces.
