Semiclassical Treatment of Induced Schwinger Processes at Finite Temperature

We consider induced pair production in an external field at finite temperature. One-loop correction to the Green function of a meson is calculated semiclassically within the framework of saddle-point analysis of Schwinger proper time integrals. This correction appears to be exponentially small in terms of inverse temperature dependence. Low-temperature limit is shown to be in full agreement with previously obtained zero-temperature results. The corrections in the low-temperature limits are estimated up to the leading exponential and pre-exponential terms. Comparison is made to earlier calculations of vacuum decay.

Non-Perturbative Decay of a Monopole: the Semiclassical Pre-Exponential Factor

The rate of the non-perturbative decay of a 't Hooft - Polyakov monopole in an external electric field into a dyon and a charged fermion is calculated. The subleading semiclassical prefactor is presented for the first time for this process. The leading exponential factor is shown to be in full agreement with the previous results derived in a different technique. Analogous treatment is shown to hold for the two-fermionic decay of the lightest bound state in Thirring model, allowing one to restore the "effective meson - fermion vertex".

Monopole Decay in a Variable External Field

The rate of monopole decay into a dyon and an electron in an inhomogeneous external electric field is calculated by semiclassical methods. Comparison is made to an earlier result where this quantity was calculated for a constant field. Experimental and cosmological tests are suggested.

Monopole decay in the external electric field

The possibility of the magnetic monopole decay in the constant electric field is investigated and the exponential factor in the probability is obtained. Corrections due to Coulomb interaction are calculated. The relation between masses of particles for the process to exist is obtained.
