Quantum field inspired model of decision making: Asymptotic stabilization of belief state via interaction with surrounding mental environment

This paper is devoted to justification of quantum-like models of the process of decision making based on the theory of open quantum systems, i.e. decision making is considered as decoherence. This process is modeled as interaction of a decision maker, Alice, with a mental (information) environment ${\cal R}$ surrounding her. Such an interaction generates "dissipation of uncertainty" from Alice's belief-state $ρ(t)$ into ${\cal R}$ and asymptotic stabilization of $ρ(t)$ to a steady belief-state. The latter is treated as the decision state. Mathematically the problem under study is about finding constraints on ${\cal R}$ guaranteeing such stabilization. We found a partial solution of this problem (in the form of sufficient conditions). We present the corresponding decision making analysis for one class of mental environments, the so-called "almost homogeneous environments", with the illustrative examples: a) behavior of electorate interacting with the mass-media "reservoir", b) consumers' persuasion. We also comment on other classes of mental environments.

A model of adaptive decision making from representation of information environment by quantum fields

We present the mathematical model of decision making (DM) of agents acting in a complex and uncertain environment (combining huge variety of economical, financial, behavioral, and geo-political factors). To describe interaction of agents with it, we apply the formalism of quantum field theory (QTF). Quantum fields are of the purely informational nature. The QFT-model can be treated as a far relative of the expected utility theory, where the role of utility is played by adaptivity to an environment (bath). However, this sort of utility-adaptivity cannot be represented simply as a numerical function. The operator representation in Hilbert space is used and adaptivity is described as in quantum dynamics. We are especially interested in stabilization of solutions for sufficiently large time. The outputs of this stabilization process, probabilities for possible choices, are treated in the framework of classical DM. To connect classical and quantum DM, we appeal to Quantum Bayesianism (QBism). We demonstrate the quantum-like interference effect in DM which is exhibited as a violation of the formula of total probability and hence the classical Bayesian inference scheme.

Brownian Entanglement

We show that for two classical brownian particles there exists an analog of continuous-variable quantum entanglement: The common probability distribution of the two coordinates and the corresponding coarse-grained velocities cannot be prepared via mixing of any factorized distributions referring to the two particles in separate. This is possible for particles which interacted in the past, but do not interact in the present. Three factors are crucial for the effect: 1) separation of time-scales of coordinate and momentum which motivates the definition of coarse-grained velocities; 2) the resulting uncertainty relations between the coordinate of the brownian particle and the change of its coarse-grained velocity; 3) the fact that the coarse-grained velocity, though pertaining to a single brownian particle, is defined on a common context of two particles. The brownian entanglement is a consequence of a coarse-grained description and disappears for a finer resolution of the brownian motion. We discuss possibilities of its experimental realizations in examples of macroscopic brownian motion.

Stochastic processes on non-Archimedean spaces with values in non-Archimedean fields

Stochastic processes on topological vector spaces over non-Archimedean fields and with transition measures having values in non-Archimedean fields are defined and investigated. For this the non-Archimedean analog of the Kolmogorov theorem is proved. The analogos of Markov and Poisson processes are studied. For Poisson processes the corresponding Poisson measures are considered and the non-Archimedean analog of the Lèvy theorem is proved. Wide classes of stochastic processes are constructed.

Some p-adic differential equations

We investigate various properties of p-adic differential equations which have as a solution an analytic function of the form $F_k (x) = \sum_{n\geq 0} n! P_k (n) x^n$, where $P_k (n) = n^k + C_{k-1} n^{k-1} + ...+ C_0$ is a polynomial in n with $C_i\in Z$ (in a more general case $C_i\in Q$ or $C_i\in C_p$). For some special classes of $P_k (n)$, as well as for the general case, the existence of the corresponding linear differential equations of the first- and second-order for $F_k (x)$, is shown. In some cases such equations are constructed. For the second-order differential equations there is no other analytic solution of the form $\sum a_n x^n$. Due to the fact that the corresponding inhomogeneous first-order differential equation exists one can construct infinitely many inhomogeneous second-order equations with the same analytic solution. Relation to some rational sums with the Bernoulli numbers and to $F_k (x)$ for some $x\in Z$ is considered. Some of these differential equations can be related to p-adic dynamics and p-adic information theory.
