Primary Cosmic Rays Energy Spectrum and Mean Mass Composition by the Data of the TAIGA Astrophysical Complex

The corrected dependence of the mean depth of the EAS maximum $X_{max}$ on the energy was obtained from the data of the Tunka-133 array for 7 years and the TAIGA-HiSCORE array for 2 years. The parameter $\langle\ln A\rangle$, characterizing the mean mass compositon was derived from these results. The differential energy spectrum of primary cosmic rays in the energy range of $2\cdot 10^{14}$ - $2\cdot 10^{16}$\,eV was reconstructed using the new parameter $Q_{100}$ the Cherenkov light flux at the core distance 100 m.}

TAIGA -- an advanced hybrid detector complex for astroparticle physics and high energy gamma-ray astronomy

The physical motivations, present status, main results in study of cosmic rays and in the field of gamma-ray astronomy as well future plans of the TAIGA-1 (Tunka Advanced Instrument for cosmic ray physics and Gamma Astronomy) project are presented. The TAIGA observatory addresses ground-based gamma-ray astronomy and astroparticle physics at energies from a few TeV to several PeV, as well as cosmic ray physics from 100 TeV to several EeV. The pilot TAIGA-1 complex is located in the Tunka valley, ~50 km west from the southern tip of the lake Baikal.

The Tunka-Grande scintillation array: current results

The Tunka-Grande experiment is a scintillation array with about 0.5 sq.km sensitive area at Tunka Valley, Siberia, for measuring charged particles and muons in extensive air showers (EASs). Tunka-Grande is optimized for cosmic ray studies in the energy range 10 PeV to about 1 EeV, where exploring the composition is of fundamental importance for understanding the transition from galactic to extragalactic origin of cosmic rays. This paper attempts to provide a synopsis of the current results of the experiment. In particular, the reconstruction of the all-particle energy spectrum in the range of 10 PeV to 1 EeV based on experimental data from four observation seasons is presented.

Using Binary File Format Description Languages for Documenting, Parsing, and Verifying Raw Data in TAIGA Experiment

The paper is devoted to the issues of raw binary data documenting, parsing and verifying in astroparticle data lifecycle. The long-term preservation of raw data of astroparticle experiments as originally generated is essential for re-running analyses and reproducing research results. The selected high-quality raw data should have detailed documentation and accompanied by open software tools for access to them. We consider applicability of binary file format description languages to specify, parse and verify raw data of the Tunka Advanced Instrument for cosmic rays and Gamma Astronomy (TAIGA) experiment. The formal specifications are implemented for five data formats of the experiment and provide automatic generation of source code for data reading libraries in target programming languages (e.g. C++, Java, and Python). These libraries were tested on TAIGA data. They showed a good performance and help us to locate the parts with corrupted data. The format specifications can be used as metadata for exchanging of astroparticle raw data. They can also simplify software development for data aggregation from various sources for the multi-messenger analysis.

Simplification of tensor expressions in computer algebra

Computer algebra is widely used in various fields of mathematics, physics and other sciences. The simplification of tensor expressions is an important special case of computer algebra. In this paper, we consider the reduction of tensor polynomials to canonical form, taking into account the properties of symmetry under permutations of indices, the symmetries associated with the renaming of summation indices, and also linear relations between tensors of a general form. We give a definition of the canonical representation for polynomial (multiplicative) expressions of variables with abstract indices, which is the result of averaging of the original expression by the action of some finite group (the signature stabilizer). In practice, the proposed algorithms demonstrate high efficiency for expressions made of Riemann curvature tensors.

Fault Tolerance of Small-World Regular and Stochastic Interconnection Networks

Resilience of the most important properties of stochastic and regular (deterministic) small-world interconnection networks is studied. It is shown that in the broad range of values of the fraction of faulty nodes the networks under consideration possess high fault tolerance, the deterministic networks being slightly better than the stochastic ones.

A Quality and Cost Approach for Comparison of Small-World Networks

We propose an approach based on analysis of cost-quality tradeoffs for comparison of efficiency of various algorithms for small-world network construction. A number of both known in the literature and original algorithms for complex small-world networks construction are shortly reviewed and compared. The networks constructed on the basis of these algorithms have basic structure of 1D regular lattice with additional shortcuts providing the small-world properties. It is shown that networks proposed in this work have the best cost-quality ratio in the considered class.

CompHEP 4.5 Status Report

We present a new version of the CompHEP program package, version 4.5. We describe new options and techniques implemented in the version: interfaces to ROOT and HERWIG, parallel calculations, generation of the XML-based header in event files (HepML), full implementation of the Les Houches agreements (LHA I, SUSY LHA, LHA PDF, Les Houches Event format), cascade matching for intermediate scalar resonances, etc.

LCG Monte-Carlo Data Base

We present the Monte-Carlo events Data Base (MCDB) project and its development plans. MCDB facilitates communication between authors of Monte-Carlo generators and experimental users. It also provides a convenient book-keeping and an easy access to generator level samples. The first release of MCDB is now operational for the CMS collaboration. In this paper we review the main ideas behind MCDB and discuss future plans to develop this Data Base further within the CERN LCG framework.

CompHEP 4.4 - Automatic Computations from Lagrangians to Events

We present a new version of the CompHEP program (version 4.4). We describe shortly new issues implemented in this version, namely, simplification of quark flavor combinatorics for the evaluation of hadronic processes, Les Houches Accord based CompHEP-PYTHIA interface, processing the color configurations of events, implementation of MSSM, symbolical and numerical batch modes, etc. We discuss how the CompHEP program is used for preparing event generators for various physical processes. We mention a few concrete physics examples for CompHEP based generators prepared for the LHC and Tevatron.

XML-Based Formulation of Field Theoretical Models. A Proposal for a Future Standard and Data Base for Model Storage, Exchange and Cross-checking of Results

We propose an XML-based standard for formulation of field theoretical models. The goal of creation of such a standard is to provide a way for an unambiguous exchange and cross-checking of results of computer calculations in high energy physics. At the moment, the suggested standard implies that models under consideration are of the SM or MSSM type (i.e., they are just SM or MSSM, their submodels, smooth modifications or straightforward generalizations).

Vector Leptoquark Pair Production in $e^+e^-$ Annihilation

The cross section for vector leptoquark pair production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation is calculated for the case of finite anomalous gauge boson couplings $κ_{γ, Z}$ and $λ_{γ, Z}$. The minimal cross section is found to behave $\propto β^7$, leading to weaker mass bounds in the threshold range than in models studied previously.

Leptoquark Pair Production in Hadronic Interactions

The scalar and vector leptoquark pair production cross sections in hadronic collisions are calculated. In a model independent analysis we consider the most general C and P conserving couplings of gluons to both scalar and vector leptoquarks described by an effective low--energy Lagangian which obeys SU(3)_c invariance. Analytrical expressions are derived for the differential and integral scattering cross sections including the case of anomalous vector leptoquark couplings, $κ_G$ and $λ_G$, to the gluon field. Numerical predictions are given for the kinematic range of the TEVATRON and LHC. The pair production cross sections are also calculated for the resolved photon contributions to $ep \rightarrow e \overlineΦ ΦX$ at HERA and LEP $\otimes$ LHC, and for the process $γγ\rightarrow Φ\overline ΦX$ at possible future $e^+e^-$ linear colliders and $γγ$ colliders. Estimates of the search potential for scalar and vector leptoquarks at present and future high energy colliders are given.
