Factorized ground state for a general class of ferrimagnets

We have found the exact (factorized) ground state of a general class of ferrimagnets in the presence of a magnetic field which covers the frustrated, anisotropic and long range interactions for arbitrary dimensional space. In particular cases, our model represents the bond-alternating, ferromagnet-antiferromagnet and also homogeneous spin $s$ model. The factorized ground state is a product of single particle kets on a bipartite lattice composed of two different spins ($ρ, σ$). The spin waves analysis around the exact ground state show two branch of excitations which is the origin of two dynamics of the model. The signature of these dynamics is addressed as a peak and a broaden bump in the specific heat.

Three-Qubit Ground State and Thermal Entanglement of $XXZ$ Model With Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction

We have studied the symmetric and non-symmetric pairwise ground state and thermal entanglement in three-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg (XXZ) and Ising in a magnetic field models and in the presence of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We have found that increasing of the DM interaction and magnetic field can enhance and reduce the entanglement of system. We have shown that the non-symmetric pairwise has higher value concurrence and critical temperature (above which the entanglement vanishes) than the symmetric pairwise. For negative anisotropy the non-symmetric entanglement is a monotonic function of DM interaction while for positive anisotropy it has a maximum versus DM parameter and vanishes for larger values of DM interaction. The conditions for the existence of thermal entanglement are discussed in details. The most remarkable result happens at zero temperature where 3-qubit ground state entanglement of the system (in spite of 2-qubit counterpart) shows the fingerprint of quantum phase transition for an infinite size system.

Phase Diagram of spin 1/2 XXZ Model With Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction

We have studied the phase diagram of the one dimensional XXZ model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We have applied the quantum renormalization group (QRG) approach to get the stable fixed points, critical point and the scaling of coupling constants. This model has three phases, ferromagnetic, spin-fluid and Néel phases which are separated by a critical line which depends on the DM coupling constant. We have shown that the staggered magnetization is the order parameter of the system and investigated the influence of DM interaction on the chiral ordering as a helical magnetic order.

Phase Diagram and Entanglement of Ising Model With Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction

We have studied the phase diagram and entanglement of the one dimensional Ising model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We have applied the quantum renormalization group (QRG) approach to get the stable fixed points, critical point and the scaling of coupling constants. This model has two phases, antiferromagnetic and saturated chiral ones. We have shown that the staggered magnetization is the order parameter of the system and DM interaction produces the chiral order in both phases. We have also implemented the exact diagonalization (Lanczos) method to calculate the static structure factors. The divergence of structure factor at the ordering momentum as the size of systems goes to infinity defines the critical point of the model. Moreover, we have analyzed the relevance of the entanglement in the model which allows us to shed insight on how the critical point is touched as the size of the system becomes large. Nonanalytic behavior of entanglement and finite size scaling have been analyzed which is tightly connected to the critical properties of the model. It is also suggested that a spin-fluid phase has a chiral order in terms of new spin operators which are defined by a nonlocal transformation.

The renormalization of entanglement in the anisotropic Heisenberg (XXZ) model

We have applied our recent approach (Kargarian, et.al Phys. Rev. A 76, 60304 (R) (2007)) to study the quantum information properties of the anisotropic s=1/2 Heisenberg chain. We have investigated the underlying quantum information properties like the evolution of concurrence, entanglement entropy, nonanalytic behaviours and the scaling close to the quantum critical point of the model. Both the concurrence and the entanglement entropy develop two saturated values after enough iterations of the renormalization of coupling constants. This values are associated with the two different phases, i.e Neel and spin liquid phases. The nonanalytic behaviour comes from the divergence of the first derivative of both measures of entanglement as the size of system becomes large. The renormalization scheme demonstrates how the minimum value of the first derivative and its position scales with an exponent of the system size. It is shown that this exponent is directly related to the critical properties of the model, i.e. the exponent governing the divergence of the correlation length close to the quantum critical point. We also use a renormalization method based on the quantum group concept in order to get more insight about the critical properties of the model and the renormalization of entanglement.

Green's function approach to quantum criticality in the anisotropic Kondo-necklace model

We have studied the quantum phase transition between the antiferromagnetic and spin liquid phase for the two dimensional anisotropic Kondo-necklace model. The bond operator formalism has been implemented to transform the spin Hamiltonian to a bosonic one. We have used the Green's function approach including a hard core repulsion to find the low energy excitation spectrum of the model. The bosonic excitations become gapless at the quantum critical point where the phase transition from the Kondo singlet state to long range antiferromagnetic order takes place. We have studied the effect of both inter-site (delta) and local (Delta) anisotropies on the critical point and on the critical exponent of the excitation gap in the paramagnetic phase. We have also compared our results with previous bond operator mean field calculations.

Phase diagram of the one dimensional anisotropic Kondo-necklace model

The one dimensional anisotropic Kondo-necklace model has been studied by several methods. It is shown that a mean field approach fails to gain the correct phase diagram for the Ising type anisotropy. We then applied the spin wave theory which is justified for the anisotropic case. We have derived the phase diagram between the antiferromagnetic long range order and the Kondo singlet phases. We have found that the exchange interaction (J) between the itinerant spins and local ones enhances the quantum fluctuations around the classical long range antiferromagnetic order and finally destroy the ordered phase at the critical value, J_c. Moreover, our results show that the onset of anisotropy in the XY term of the itinerant interactions develops the antiferromagnetic order for J<J_c. This is in agreement with the qualitative feature which we expect from the symmetry of the anisotropic XY interaction. We have justified our results by the numerical Lanczos method where the structure factor at the antiferromagnetic wave vector diverges as the size of system goes to infinity.

Thermodynamic Properties of XXZ model in a Transverse Field

We have numerically studied the thermodynamic properties of the spin 1/2 XXZ chain in the presence of a transverse (non commuting) magnetic field. The thermal, field dependence of specific heat and correlation functions for chains up to 20 sites have been calculated. The area where the specific heat decays exponentially is considered as a measure of the energy gap. We have also obtained the exchange interaction between chains in a bulk material using the random phase approximation and derived the phase diagram of the three dimensional material with this approximation. The behavior of the structure factor at different momenta verifies the antiferromagnetic long range order in y-direction for the three dimensional case. Moreover, we have concluded that the Low Temperature Lanczos results [M. Aichhorn et al., Phys. Rev. B 67, 161103(R) (2003)] are more accurate for low temperatures and closer to the full diagonalization ones than the results of Finite Temperature Lanczos Method [J. Jaklic and P. Prelovsek, Phys. Rev. B 49, 5065 (1994)].

Renormalization of concurrence: the application of quantum renormalization group to the quantum information systems

We have combined the idea of renormalization group and quantum information theory. We have shown how the entanglement or concurrence evolve as the size of the system being large, i.e. the finite size scaling is obtained. Moreover, It introduces how the renormalization group approach can be implemented to obtain the quantum information properties of a many body system. We have obtained the concurrence as a measure of entanglement, its derivatives and their scaling behavior versus the size of system for the one dimensional Ising model in transverse field. We have found that the derivative of concurrence between two blocks each containing half of the system size diverges at the critical point with the exponent which is directly associated with the divergence of the correlation length.

Phase Diagram of the One Dimensional $S=1/2$ $XXZ$ model with Ferromagnetic nearest-neighbor and Antiferromagnetic next-nearest neighbor interactions

We have studied the phase diagram of the one dimensional $S=1/2$ $XXZ$ model with ferromagnetic nearest-neighbor and antiferromagnetic next-nearest neighbor interactions. We have applied the quantum renormalization group (QRG) approach to get the stable fixed points and the running of coupling constants. The second order QRG has been implemented to get the self similar Hamiltonian. This model shows a rich phase diagram which consists of different phases which possess the quantum spin-fluid and dimer phases in addition to the classical Néel and ferromagnetic ones. The border between different phases has been shown as a projection onto two different planes in the phase space.

Dielectric Susceptibility and Heat Capacity of Ultra-Cold Glasses in Magnetic Field

Recent experiments demonstrated unexpected, even intriguing properties of certain glassy materials in magnetic field at low temperatures. We have studied the magnetic field dependence of the static dielectric susceptibility and the heat capacity of glasses at low temperatures. We present a theory in which we consider the coupling of the tunnelling motion to nuclear quadrupoles in order to evaluate the static dielectric susceptibility. In the limit of weak magnetic field we find the resonant part of the susceptibility increasing like $B^2$ while for the large magnetic field it behaves as 1/B. In the same manner we consider the coupling of the tunnelling motion to nuclear quadrupoles and angular momentum of tunnelling particles in order to find the heat capacity. Our results show the Schotky peak for the angular momentum part, and $B^2$ dependence for nuclear quadrupoles part of heat capacity, respectively. We discuss whether or not this approach can provide a suitable explanation for such magnetic properties.

Field induced quantum phase transition in the anisotropic Kondo necklace model

The anisotropic Kondo necklace model in 2D and 3D is treated as a genuine model for magnetic to Kondo singlet quantum phase transitions in the heavy fermion (HF) compounds. The variation of the quantum critical point (QCP) with anisotropy parameters has been investigated previously in the zero field case [1]. Here we extend the treatment to finite fields using a generalised bond operator representation including all triplet states. The variation of critical tc with external field H and the associated phase diagram is derived. The influence of anisotropies and the different g-factors for localised and itinerant spins on tc(H) is also investigated. It is found that three different types of behaviour may appear: (i) Destruction of antiferromangetism and appearance of a singlet state above a critical field. (ii) The inverese behaviour, namely field induced antiferromagnetism out of the Kondo singlet phase. (iii) Reentrance behaviour of the Kondo singlet phase as function of field strength.

Spin Ladder with Anisotropic Ferromagnetic Legs in a Transverse Magnetic Field

We study the ground state phase diagram of a two-leg spin ladder with anisotropic ferromagnetic leg couplings under the influence of a symmetry breaking transverse magnetic field by the exact diagonalization technique. In the case of antiferromagnetic coupling between legs we identified two phase transitions in the plane of magnetic field vs interchain coupling strength. The first one corresponds to the transition from the gapped rung-singlet phase to the gapped stripe-ferromagnetic phase. The second one represents the transition from the gapped stripe-ferromagnetic phase into the fully polarized ferromagnetic phase.

Antiferromagnetic and spin gap phases of the anisotropic Kondo necklace model

We have studied the effect of anisotropies on the quantum phase transition of the Kondo necklace model in dimensions D=1, 2 and 3. Both the anisotropy $δ$ of the inter-site interaction term and anisotropy $Δ$ of the on-site Kondo interaction have been included. We use a bond operator method with constraints implemented in mean field approximation. Starting from the paramagnetic phase we determine the critical ratio $(t/J)_c$ of the quantum critical point and associated scaling exponents of the Kondo-singlet gap. We show that in the case of easy-axis type anisotropy $δ>1$ a qualitatively new behavior in comparison to the conventional Kondo necklace model with ($δ$,$Δ$)=(0,1) appears. We have also obtained the antiferromagnetic order parameter in the long range ordered phase for $t > t_c$.

Formation of clusters in the two dimensional t-J model: The mechanism for phase separation

The emergence of phase separation is investigated in the framework of a 2D t-J model by means of a variational product ansatz, which covers the infinite lattice by two types of L x L clusters. Clusters of the first type are completely occupied with electrons, i.e. they carry maximal charge Q_e=L^2 and total spin 0, and thereby form the antiferromagnetic background. Holes occur in the second type of clusters -- called ``hole clusters''. They carry a charge Q_h 0.5) it turns out that hole clusters are occupied with an even number Q_h<L^2 of electrons and carry a total spin 0. For increasing αthe charge Q_h(α) of the hole clusters decreases. Some points on the boundary curve can be extracted from Q_h(α).

The gap exponent of XXZ model in a transverse field

We have calculated numerically the gap exponent of the anisotropic Heisenberg model in the presence of the transverse magnetic field. We have implemented the modified Lanczos method to obtain the excited states of our model with the same accuracy of the ground state. The coefficient of the leading term in the perturbation expansion diverges in the thermodynamic limit (N --> infinity). We have obtained the relation between this divergence and the scaling behaviour of the energy gap. We have found that the opening of gap in the presence of transverse field scales with a critical exponent which depends on the anisotropy parameter (Delta). Our numerical results are in well agreement with the field theoretical approach in the whole range of the anisotropy parameter, -1 < Delta < 1.

Thermodynamic properties of the ferrimagnetic spin chains in the presence of a magnetic field

We have implemented three approaches to describe the thermodynamic properties of ferrimagnetic ($S=5/2, s=2$) spin chains. The application of cumulant expansion has been generalized to the ferrimagnetic chain in the presence of an external magnetic field. Using cumulants, we have obtained the field dependent effective Hamiltonian in terms of the classical variables up to the second order of quantum corrections. Thermodynamic functions, the internal energy, the specific heat and the magnetic susceptibility are obtained from the effective Hamiltonian. We have also examined the modified spin wave theory to derive the same physical properties. Finally, we have studied our model using quantum Monte Carlo simulation to obtain accurate results. The comparison of the above results and also the high temperature series expansion shows that cumulant expansion gives good results for moderate and high temperature regions while the modified spin wave theory is good for low temperatures. Moreover, the convergence regions of the cumulant expansion and the modified spin wave theory overlap each other which propose these two as a set of complement methods to get the thermodynamic properties of spin models.

Second order quantum renormalisation group of XXZ chain with next nearest neighbour interactions

We have extended the application of quantum renormalisation group (QRG) to the anisotropic Heisenberg model with next-nearest neighbour (n-n-n) interaction. The second order correction has to be taken into account to get a self similar renormalized Hamiltonian in the presence of n-n-n-interaction. We have obtained the phase diagram of this model which consists of three different phases, i.e, spin-fluid, dimerised and Ne'el types which merge at the tri-critical point. The anisotropy of the n-n-n-term changes the phase diagram significantly. It has a dominant role in the Ne'el-dimer phase boundary. The staggered magnetisation as an order parameter defines the border between fluid-Ne'el and Ne'el-dimer phases. The improvement of the second order RG corrections on the ground state energy of the Heisenberg model is presented. Moreover, the application of second order QRG on the spin lattice model has been discussed generally. Our scheme shows that higher order corrections lead to an effective Hamiltonian with infinite range of interactions.
