The LAIA Dataset: Labelled Attention for Intelligent Automobiles

The development of autonomous vehicles (AVs) usually relies heavily on data-driven artificial intelligence (AI) models that require large volumes of sensor data with ground-truth annotations. While modular architectures are widely used, end-to-end driving paradigms offer a promising alternative by directly mapping sensor inputs to control actions. However, their adoption is limited by challenges in interpretability and explainability. To address this, we present LAIA (Labelled Attention for Intelligent Automobiles), a novel synthetic dataset designed to enrich end-to-end driving research with human attention data. Collected using the CARLA simulator in closed-loop environments, LAIA comprises over 15 hours of driving from 44 participants across carefully crafted scenarios designed to evoke natural responses. Each sequence includes RGB images under six weather conditions, semantic and instance segmentation, depth, optical flow, CAN bus signals, and synchronized eye-tracking data. LAIA enables applications including training attention-aware end-to-end AI drivers, predicting driver behavior, developing methods to detect anomalous driver-attention patterns, and improving model explainability. In this work, we use LAIA to compare human attention with the perceptual attention emerging in our end-to-end driving models, thereby providing insight into their behavior.

Shadowing for codimension one sectional-Anosov flows

In hyperbolic dynamics, a well-known result is that every hyperbolic attracting set, have a finite pseudo-orbit tracing property (FPOTP). It's natural to wonder if this result is maintained in the sectional-hyperbolic dynamics; Komuro in [Lorenz attractors do not have the pseudo-orbit tracing property], provides a negative answer for this question, by proving that the geometric Lorenz Attractor doesn't have a FPOTP. In this paper, we generalized the result of Komuro, we prove that every codimension one sectional-hyperbolic attractor set with a unique singularity Lorenz-like, which is of boundary-type, does not have FPOTP.

Intransitive sectional-Anosov flows on 3-manifolds

For each $n\in\mathbb{Z}^+$, we show the existence of Venice masks (i.e. intransitive sectional-Anosov flows with dense periodic orbits) containing $n$ equilibria on certain compact 3-manifolds. These examples are characterized because of the maximal invariant set is a finite union of homoclinic classes. Here, the intersection between two different homoclinic classes is contained in the closure of the union of unstable manifolds of the singularities.

Sectional Anosov flows: Existence of Venice masks with two singularities

We show the existence of Venice masks (i.e. nontransitive sectional Anosov flows with dense periodic orbits), containing two equilibria on certain compact 3-manifolds. Indeed, the only known examples of venice masks have one or three singularities, and they are characterized by having two properties: are the union non disjoint of two homoclinic classes and whose intersection is the closure of the unstable manifold of a singularity. Thus, we present two type of examples containing two equilibria in which the homoclinic classes composing their maximal invariant set intersect in a very different way.

Existence of periodic orbits for sectional Anosov flows

We prove that every sectional Anosov flow (or, equivalently, every sectional-hyperbolic attracting set of a flow) on a compact manifold has a periodic orbit. This extends the previous three-dimensional result obtained in [Existence of periodic orbits for singular-hyperbolic sets].

Finiteness of attractors and repellers on sectional hyperbolic sets

We obtain an upper bound for the number of attractors and repellers that can appear from small perturbations of a sectional hyperbolic set. This extends results from [Sectional-Anosov flows in higher dimensions] and [The explosion of singular-hyperbolic attractors].

Sectional-Anosov flows in higher dimensions

A sectional-Anosov flow on a manifold M is a C^1 vector field inwardly transverse to the boundary for which the maximal invariant is sectional-hyperbolic. We prove that every attractor of every vector field C^1 close to a transitive sectional-Anosov flow with singularities on a compact manifold has a singularity. This extends the three-dimensional result obtained in [Morales, C.A., The explosion of singular-hyperbolic attractors].
