New non-linear equations and modular form expansion for double-elliptic Seiberg-Witten prepotential

Integrable N-particle systems have an important property that the associated Seiberg-Witten prepotentials satisfy the WDVV equations. However, this does not apply to the most interesting class of elliptic and double-elliptic systems. Studying the commutativity conjecture for theta-functions on the families of associated spectral curves, we derive some other non-linear equations for the perturbative Seiberg-Witten prepotential, which turn out to have exactly the double-elliptic system as their generic solution. In contrast with the WDVV equations, the new equations acquire non-perturbative corrections which are straightforwardly deducible from the commutativity conditions. We obtain such corrections in the first non-trivial case of N=3 and describe the structure of non-perturbative solutions as expansions in powers of the flat moduli with coefficients that are (quasi)modular forms of the elliptic parameter.

Differential expansion and rectangular HOMFLY for the figure eight knot

Differential expansion (DE) for a Wilson loop average in representation $R$ is built to respect degenerations of representations for small groups. At the same time it behaves nicely under some changes of the loop, e.g. of some knots in the case of $3d$ Chern-Simons theory. Especially simple is the relation between the DE for the trefoil $3_1$ and for the figure eight knot $4_1$. Since arbitrary colored HOMFLY for the trefoil are known from the Rosso-Jones formula, it is therefore enough to find their DE in order to make a conjecture for the figure eight. We fulfil this program for all rectangular representation $R=[r^s]$, i.e. make a plausible conjecture for the rectangularly colored HOMFLY of the figure eight knot, which generalizes the old result for totally symmetric and antisymmetric representations.

Racah matrices and hidden integrability in evolution of knots

We construct a general procedure to extract the exclusive Racah matrices S and \bar S from the inclusive 3-strand mixing matrices by the evolution method and apply it to the first simple representations R =[1], [2], [3] and [2,2]. The matrices S and \bar S relate respectively the maps (R\otimes R)\otimes \bar R\longrightarrow R with R\otimes (R \otimes \bar R) \longrightarrow R and (R\otimes \bar R) \otimes R \longrightarrow R with R\otimes (\bar R \otimes R) \longrightarrow R. They are building blocks for the colored HOMFLY polynomials of arbitrary arborescent (double fat) knots. Remarkably, the calculation realizes an unexpected integrability property underlying the evolution matrices.

Quantum Racah matrices and 3-strand braids in irreps R with |R|=4

We describe the inclusive Racah matrices for the first non-(anti)symmetric rectangular representation R=[2,2] for quantum groups U_q(sl_N). Most of them have sizes 2, 3, and 4 and are fully described by the eigenvalue hypothesis. Of two 6x6 matrices, one is also described in this way, but the other one corresponds to the case of degenerate eigenvalues and is evaluated by the highest weight method. Together with the much harder calculation for R=[3,1] in arXiv:1605.02313 and with the new method to extract exclusive matrices S and \bar S from the inclusive ones, this completes the story of Racah matrices for |R|\leq 4 and allows one to calculate and investigate the corresponding colored HOMFLY polynomials for arbitrary 3-strand and arborescent knots.

HOMFLY polynomials in representation [3,1] for 3-strand braids

This paper is a new step in the project of systematic description of colored knot polynomials started in arXiv:1506.00339. In this paper, we managed to explicitly find the inclusive Racah matrix, i.e. the whole set of mixing matrices in channels R^3->Q with all possible Q, for R=[3,1]. The calculation is made possible by the use of a newly-developed efficient highest-weight method, still it remains tedious. The result allows one to evaluate and investigate [3,1]-colored polynomials for arbitrary 3-strand knots, and this confirms many previous conjectures on various factorizations, universality, and differential expansions. We consider in some detail the next-to-twist-knots three-strand family (n,-1|1,-1) and deduce its colored HOMFLY. Also confirmed and clarified is the eigenvalue hypothesis for the Racah matrices, which promises to provide a shortcut to generic formulas for arbitrary representations.

On skew tau-functions in higher spin theory

Recent studies of higher spin theory in three dimensions concentrate on Wilson loops in Chern-Simons theory, which in the classical limit reduce to peculiar corner matrix elements between the highest and lowest weight states in a given representation of SL(N). Despite these "skew" tau-functions can seem very different from conventional ones, which are the matrix elements between the two highest weight states, they also satisfy the Toda recursion between different fundamental representations. Moreover, in the most popular examples they possess simple representations in terms of matrix models and Schur functions. We provide a brief introduction to this new interesting field, which, after quantization, can serve as an additional bridge between knot and integrability theories.

Tabulating knot polynomials for arborescent knots

Arborescent knots are the ones which can be represented in terms of double fat graphs or equivalently as tree Feynman diagrams. This is the class of knots for which the present knowledge is enough for lifting topological description to the level of effective analytical formulas. The paper describes the origin and structure of the new tables of colored knot polynomials, which will be posted at the dedicated site. Even if formal expressions are known in terms of modular transformation matrices, the computation in finite time requires additional ideas. We use the "family" approach, and apply it to arborescent knots in the Rolfsen table by developing a Feynman diagram technique associated with an auxiliary matrix model field theory. Gauge invariance in this theory helps to provide meaning to Racah matrices in the case of non-trivial multiplicities and explains the need for peculiar sign prescriptions in the calculation of [21]-colored HOMFLY polynomials.

Ding-Iohara-Miki symmetry of network matrix models

Ward identities in the most general "network matrix model" can be described in terms of the Ding-Iohara-Miki algebras (DIM). This confirms an expectation that such algebras and their various limits/reductions are the relevant substitutes/deformations of the Virasoro/W-algebra for (q, t) and (q_1, q_2, q_3) deformed network matrix models. Exhaustive for these purposes should be the Pagoda triple-affine elliptic DIM, which corresponds to networks associated with 6d gauge theories with adjoint matter (double elliptic systems). We provide some details on elliptic qq-characters.

Lid-driven cavity flow of viscoelastic liquids

The lid-driven cavity flow is a well-known benchmark problem for the validation of new numerical methods and techniques. In experimental and numerical studies with viscoelastic fluids in such lid-driven flows, purely-elastic instabilities have been shown to appear even at very low Reynolds numbers. A finite-volume viscoelastic code, using the log-conformation formulation, is used in this work to probe the effect of viscoelasticity on the appearance of such instabilities in two-dimensional lid-driven cavities for a wide range of aspect ratios (0.125 < height/length < 4.0), at different Deborah numbers under creeping-flow conditions and to understand the effects of regularization of the lid velocity. The effect of the viscoelasticity on the steady-state results and on the critical conditions for the onset of the elastic instabilities are described and compared to experimental results.

Spectral duality in elliptic systems, six-dimensional gauge theories and topological strings

We consider Dotsenko-Fateev matrix models associated with compactified Calabi-Yau threefolds. They can be constructed with the help of explicit expressions for refined topological vertex, i.e. are directly related to the corresponding topological string amplitudes. We describe a correspondence between these amplitudes, elliptic and affine type Selberg integrals and gauge theories in five and six dimensions with various matter content. We show that the theories of this type are connected by spectral dualities, which can be also seen at the level of elliptic Seiberg-Witten integrable systems. The most interesting are the spectral duality between the XYZ spin chain and the Ruijsenaars system, which is further lifted to self-duality of the double elliptic system.

ANTS2 package: simulation and experimental data processing for Anger camera type detectors

ANTS2 is a simulation and data processing package developed for position sensitive detectors with Anger camera type readout. The simulation module of ANTS2 is based on ROOT package from CERN, which is used to store the detector geometry and to perform 3D navigation. The module is capable of simulating particle sources, performing particle tracking, generating photons of primary and secondary scintillation, tracing optical photons and generating photosensor signals. The reconstruction module features several position reconstruction methods based on the statistical reconstruction algorithms (including GPU-based implementations), artificial neural networks and k-NN searches. The module can process simulated as well as imported experimental data containing photosensor signals. A custom library for B-spline parameterization of spatial response of photosensors is implemented which can be used to calculate and parameterize the spatial response of a detector. The package includes a graphical user interface with an extensive set of configuration, visualization and analysis tools. ANTS2 is being developed with the focus on the iterative (adaptive) reconstruction of the detector response using flood field irradiation data. The package is implemented in C++ programming language and it is a multiplatform, open source project.

On elementary proof of AGT relations from six dimensions

The actual definition of the Nekrasov functions participating in the AGT relations implies a peculiar choice of contours in the LMNS and Dotsenko-Fateev integrals. Once made explicit and applied to the original triply-deformed (6-dimensional) version of these integrals, this approach reduces the AGT relations to symmetry in q_{1,2,3}, which is just an elementary identity for an appropriate choice of the integration contour (which is, however, a little non-traditional). We illustrate this idea with the simplest example of N=(1,1) U(1) SYM in six dimensions, however, all other cases can be evidently considered in a completely similar way.

SU(2)/SL(2) knot invariants and KS monodromies

We review the Reshetikhin-Turaev approach to construction of non-compact knot invariants involving R-matrices associated with infinite-dimensional representations, primarily those made from Faddeev's quantum dilogarithm. The corresponding formulas can be obtained from modular transformations of conformal blocks as their Kontsevich-Soibelman monodromies and are presented in the form of transcendental integrals, where the main issue is manipulation with integration contours. We discuss possibilities to extract more explicit and handy expressions which can be compared with the ordinary (compact) knot polynomials coming from finite-dimensional representations of simple Lie algebras, with their limits and properties. In particular, the quantum A-polynomials, difference equations for colored Jones polynomials should be the same, just in non-compact case the equations are homogeneous, while they have a non-trivial right-hand side for ordinary Jones polynomials.

Emulation workbench for position sensitive gaseous scintillation detectors

Position sensitive detectors based on gaseous scintillation proportional counters with Anger-type readout are being used in several research areas such as neutron detection, search for dark matter and neutrinoless double beta decay. Design and optimization of such detectors are complex and time consuming tasks. Simulations, while being a powerful tool, strongly depend on the light transport models and demand accurate knowledge of many parameters, which are often not available. Here we describe an alternative approach based on the experimental evaluation of a detector using an isotropic point-like light source with precisely controllable light emission properties, installed on a 3D positioning system. The results obtained with the developed setup at validation conditions, when the scattered light is strongly suppressed, show good agreement with simulations.

Decomposing Nekrasov Decomposition

AGT relations imply that the four-point conformal block admits a decomposition into a sum over pairs of Young diagrams of essentially rational Nekrasov functions - this is immediately seen when conformal block is represented in the form of a matrix model. However, the q-deformation of the same block has a deeper decomposition - into a sum over a quadruple of Young diagrams of a product of four topological vertices. We analyze the interplay between these two decompositions, their properties and their generalization to multi-point conformal blocks. In the latter case we explain how Dotsenko-Fateev all-with-all (star) pair "interaction" is reduced to the quiver model nearest-neighbor (chain) one. We give new identities for q-Selberg averages of pairs of generalized Macdonald polynomials. We also translate the slicing invariance of refined topological strings into the language of conformal blocks and interpret it as abelianization of generalized Macdonald polynomials.

Colored HOMFLY and Generalized Mandelbrot set

Mandelbrot set is a closure of the set of zeroes of $resultant_x(F_n,F_m)$ for iterated maps $F_n(x)=f^{\circ n}(x)-x$ in the moduli space of maps $f(x)$. The wonderful fact is that for a given $n$ all zeroes are not chaotically scattered around the moduli space, but lie on smooth curves, with just a few cusps, located at zeroes of $discriminant_x(F_n)$. We call this phenomenon the Mandelbrot property. If approached by the cabling method, symmetrically-colored HOMFLY polynomials $H^{\cal K}_n(A|q)$ can be considered as linear forms on the $n$-th "power" of the knot ${\cal K}$, and one can wonder if zeroes of $resultant_{q^2}(H_n,H_m)$ can also possess the Mandelbrot property. We present and discuss such resultant-zeroes patterns in the complex-$A$ plane. Though $A$ is hardly an adequate parameter to describe the moduli space of knots, the Mandelbrot-like structure is clearly seen -- in full accord with the vision of arXiv:hep-th/0501235, that concrete slicing of the Universal Mandelbrot set is not essential for revealing its structure.

Are there p-adic knot invariants?

We suggest to use the Hall-Littlewood version of Rosso-Jones formula to define the germs of $p$-adic HOMFLY-PT polynomials for torus knots $[m,n]$, which possess at least the $[m,n] \longleftrightarrow [n,m]$ topological invariance. This calls for generalizations to other knot families and is a challenge for several branches of modern theory.

Colored knot polynomials. HOMFLY in representation [2,1]

This paper starts a systematic description of colored knot polynomials, beginning from the first non-(anti)symmetric representation R=[2,1]. The project involves several steps: (i) parametrization of big families of knots a la arXiv:1506.00339, (ii) evaluating Racah/mixing matrices for various numbers of strands in various representations a la arXiv:1112.2654, (iii) tabulating and collecting the results at www.knotebook.org. In this paper we discuss only representation R=[2,1] and construct all necessary ingredients that allow one to evaluate knot/links represented by three strand closed parallel braids with inserted double-fat fingers. In particular, it is used to evaluate knots from a 7-parametric family: this family contains over 80% of knots with up to 10 intersections, but does not include mutants.
