Spectral Bifurcations in Quasinormal Modes of Regular BTZ Black Holes

We study the quasinormal spectrum of massless scalar fields propagating on a family of regular BTZ black holes arising from an infinite tower of dimensionally regularized Lovelock corrections. These geometries are asymptotically AdS, reduce to the standard BTZ solution in the limit $\ell \to 0$, and resolve the central singularity by introducing a smooth core controlled by the new length scale $\ell$. The scalar quasinormal modes are computed using both Leaver's continued-fraction method and the Horowitz-Hubeny power-series method; the two approaches agree to high accuracy across the parameter space. We find that the regularization preserves linear stability ($ω_I < 0$) while qualitatively reshaping the spectrum: as $\ell$ increases, BTZ-like complex branches collide with the imaginary axis and undergo a hierarchy of bifurcations into multiple purely imaginary branches, leading to mode switching and a nontrivial reordering of overtones as functions of $\ell$ and the harmonic index $m$. Our results place regular BTZ black holes within the emerging family of bifurcating quasinormal spectra known from nearly extremal and asymptotically AdS black holes, and highlight these $(2+1)$-dimensional geometries as a controlled arena for exploring geometric mechanisms behind spectral branching and late-time ringdown in regular black hole spacetimes.

Thermodynamics and phase transitions of $κ$-deformed Schwarzschild-AdS black holes

We investigate the thermodynamics of the Schwarzschild-AdS black hole in the framework of \(κ\)-deformed non-commutative geometry by constructing an effective \(κ\)-deformed Schwarzschild-AdS metric from the \(κ\)-deformed Newtonian potential. In the extended phase space, we derive a modified first law and the corresponding Smarr relation by treating the \(κ\)-deformation parameter as an additional thermodynamic variable and identifying its conjugate potential. Our analysis shows that \(κ\)-deformation induces critical behaviour and phase transitions in an uncharged Schwarzschild-AdS black hole, with a critical ratio \(P_c v_c/T_c \simeq 0.370\) that is independent of the deformation parameter and close to the Van der Waals value.

Euclidean Thermodynamics and Lyapunov Exponents of Einstein-Power-Yang-Mills AdS Black Holes

We study the thermodynamics of Einstein-Power-Yang-Mills AdS black holes via the Euclidean path integral method, incorporating appropriate boundary and counterterms. By analyzing unstable timelike and null circular geodesics, we demonstrate that their Lyapunov exponents reflect the thermodynamic phase structure obtained from the Euclidean action. Specifically, the small-large black hole phase transition, analogous to a van der Waals fluid, is signaled by a discontinuity in the Lyapunov exponent. Treating this discontinuity as an order parameter, we observe a universal critical exponent of $1/2$, consistent with mean-field theory. These results extend previous insights from black hole spacetimes with Abelian charges to scenarios involving nonlinear, non-Abelian gauge fields, highlighting the interplay between black hole thermodynamics and chaotic dynamics.

Noncommutative Regge-Wheeler potential: some nonperturbative results

We study the gravitational perturbation theory of black holes in noncommutative spacetimes with noncommutativity of the type $[t\stackrel{\star}{,} r] = i a αA(r)$ and $[φ\stackrel{\star}{,} r] = i a βA(r)$ for arbitrary $A(r)$, which includes several Moyal-type spaces and also the $κ$-Minkowski space. The main result of this paper is an analytical expression for the effective potential of the axial perturbation modes, valid to all orders in the noncommutativity parameter. This is achieved by evaluating the $\star$-products using translations in the radial direction, i.e., Bopp shift. We comment on various regimes, such as Planck-scale black holes, where the noncommutativity length scale is of the same order of magnitude as the black hole horizon.

Dirac Quasinormal Modes in Noncommutative Reissner-Nordström Black Holes

Noncommutative (NC) geometry provides a novel approach to probe quantum gravity effects in black hole spacetimes. This work explores Dirac quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a deformed Reissner-Nordström black hole, where noncommutativity induces an effective metric with an additional ($ r-φ$) component. Employing a semiclassical model equivalent to a NC gauge theory, we investigate the dynamics of massless Dirac fields and calculate their QNM frequencies using the continued fraction method, enhanced by Gauss elimination to address the six-term recurrence relations. Our results demonstrate notable shifts in oscillation frequencies and damping rates relative to the commutative Reissner-Nordström case, exhibiting a distinctive Zeeman-like splitting in the QNM spectrum driven by the NC parameter.

Thermodynamics, photon sphere and thermodynamic geometry of Ayón-Beato-García Spacetime

We study the thermodynamics of the Ayón-Beato-García black hole and the relationship between photon orbits and the thermodynamic phase transitions of the black hole in AdS spacetime. We then examine the interactions between the microstructures of the black hole using Ruppeiner geometry. The radius of the photon orbit and the minimum impact parameter behave non-monotonically below the critical point, mimicking the behaviour of Hawking temperature and pressure in extended thermodynamics. Their changes during the large black hole--small black hole phase transition serve as the order parameter, possessing a critical exponent of $1/2$. The results demonstrate that the gravity and thermodynamics of the Ayón-Beato-García black hole are closely related. Furthermore, we explore the thermodynamic geometry, which provides insight into the microstructure interactions of the black hole. We find that the large black hole phase is analogous to a bosonic gas with a dominant attractive interaction, while the small black hole phase behaves like an anyonic gas with both attractive and repulsive interactions.

Dirac QNM spectrum from twisted semiclassical gauge theory of gravity

Twisted Abelian gauge theory coupled to a noncommutative (NC) Dirac field is studied in order to infer the quasinormal mode (QNM) spectrum of the fermion matter perturbations in the vicinity of the Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole. The action functional of the theory is invariant under the truncated NC local $U(1)_{\star}$ gauge transformations that keep the gravitational background intact. The latter, being a classical gravitational background unaffected by the NC local gauge transformations, makes the theory semiclassical. The most prominent feature of the QNM spectrum is the splitting in the total angular momentum projection due to the noncommutativity induced $SO(3) \rightarrow U(1)$ symmetry breaking pattern.

Fermion quasinormal modes on modified RN background

Noncommutative (NC) geometry may open an alternative route to quantum gravity. We study the influence of the spacetime noncommutativity on the Dirac quasinormal modes in the modified Reissner-Nordström black hole spacetime. The framework for the latter study is provided by a certain effective model of gravity coupled to fermions which in itself encapsulates noncommutative deformation. This model describes a classical Dirac field coupled to a modified Reissner-Nordström geometry where the corresponding metric acquires an additional nonvanishing $r-φ$ component. As the earlier study shows, this model appears to be equivalent to a model of semiclassical NC gauge theory in which a NC gauge field is being coupled to a NC fermion field on the one side and the classical Reissner-Nordström background on the other. In comparison to the undeformed model where the Dirac field is coupled to the commutative Reissner-Nordström black hole, the numerical results show that the oscillation frequencies and magnitude of damping of the Dirac quasinormal modes change to an extent that cannot be neglected. In fact, the influence of spacetime noncommutativity is shown to produce features reminiscent of a Zeeman-like splitting in the effective potential and quasinormal-mode spectrum.

Spinning LQG black hole as a particle accelerator

We demonstrate that the spinning LQG black hole can act as a cosmic particle accelerator. The LQG solution is singularity-free and can possess spin greater than that of a Kerr black hole. The additional black hole hair, arising from quantum effects, significantly influences the particle dynamics around the black hole. Under suitable physical conditions, the center-of-mass energy can grow arbitrarily high during the collision of two generic particles in the spacetime of an extremal black hole. In the non-extremal case, there exists a finite upper bound on the center-of-mass energy, the maximum value of which depends on the LQG parameter. These results are particularly interesting from an astrophysical perspective, especially in the context of probing Planck-scale physics.

Constructing noncommutative black holes

We present a self-contained and consistent formulation of noncommutative (NC) gauge theory of gravity, focusing on spherically symmetric black hole geometries. Our construction starts from the gauge-theoretic viewpoint of Poincaré (or de Sitter) gravity and introduces noncommutativity through the Moyal star product and the Seiberg-Witten map, retaining NC gauge invariance at each order in the deformation parameter $Θ$. Working systematically to second order in $Θ$, we obtain explicit NC corrections to the spin connection, the vierbein, and various geometric objects such as the metric and curvature scalars. Using these results, we compute NC modifications of four-dimensional Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström solutions, including scenarios with a cosmological constant, as well as three-dimensional BTZ-type black holes (both uncharged and charged). For each black hole solution, we explore various possible Moyal twists, each of which generally breaks some symmetries and modifies the horizon structure, surface gravity, and curvature invariants. In particular, we show that while the radial location of horizons in Schwarzschild-like solutions remains unchanged for some twists, other twists introduce important but finite deformations in curvature scalars and can decouple the Killing horizon from the causal horizon. Similar patterns arise in the charged and lower-dimensional cases. Beyond constructing explicit examples, our approach provides a blueprint for systematically incorporating short-distance quantum corrections through noncommutativity in gravitational settings. The methods and expansions we present can be extended to more general geometries including rotating black holes and additional matter fields, offering a broad framework for future studies of NC effects in classical solutions of general relativity.

Greybody factor for an electrically charged regular-de Sitter black holes in $d$-dimensions

We investigate the propagation of scalar fields in the gravitational background of higher-dimensional, electrically charged, regular de Sitter black holes. Using an approximate analytical approach, we derive expressions for the greybody factor for both minimally and non-minimally coupled scalar fields. In the low-energy regime, we find that the greybody factor remains non-zero for minimal coupling but vanishes for non-minimal coupling, indicating a significant influence of curvature coupling on the emission profile. Examining the greybody factor alongside the effective potential, we explore how particle parameters (the angular momentum number and the non-minimal coupling constant) and spacetime parameters (the dimension, the cosmological constant, and the non-linear charge parameter) affect particle emission. While non-minimal coupling and higher angular momentum modes generally suppress the greybody factor, the non-linear charge parameter enhances it. We then compute the Hawking radiation spectra for these black holes and observe that, despite the non-linear charge enhancing the greybody factor, both non-minimal coupling and the non-linear charge ultimately reduce the total energy emission rate. These results provide insights into how modifications to classical black hole solutions in higher dimensions, through the inclusion of non-linear electrodynamics, impact their quantum emission properties.

Noncommutative quasinormal modes of Schwarzschild black hole

We study gravitational perturbations of the Schwarzschild metric in the context of noncommutative gravity. $r-φ$ and $r-t$ noncommutativity are introduced through a Moyal twist of the Hopf algebra of diffeomorphisms. Differential geometric structures such as curvature tensors are also twisted. Noncommutative equations of motion are derived from the recently proposed NC vacuum Einstein equation. Here, in addition to previously calculated axial NC potential, we present the polar solution which generalizes the work done by Zerilli. Quasinormal mode frequencies of the two potentials are calculated using three methods: WKB, Pöschl-Teller and Rosen-Morse. Notably, we apply the WKB method up to the 13th order and determine the optimal order for each noncommutative parameter value individually. Additionally, we provide comprehensive error estimations for the higher-order WKB calculations, offering insights into the accuracy of our results. By comparing the spectra, we conclude that the classical isospectrality of axial and polar modes is broken upon spacetime quantization. Isospectrality is restored in the eikonal limit.

Noncommutative Quasinormal Modes and the Violation of Isospectrality

We explore quasinormal modes (QNMs) of the Schwarzschild black hole under a noncommutative (NC) deformation of spacetime, constructed via a Drinfeld twist formalism. In this approach, the usual Regge--Wheeler (axial) and Zerilli (polar) equations acquire additional contributions that depend on the NC parameter. Employing semi-analytical approximations (high-order WKB, Pöschl--Teller and Rosen--Morse), we calculate the corresponding QNM spectra. Our results show that whereas the commutative case preserves the isospectrality of axial and polar modes, noncommutativity systematically violates this degeneracy. The discrepancy grows with the strength of the NC parameter, becoming evident through distinct real and imaginary parts in the ringdown frequencies. These findings highlight the potential of black hole QNMs to serve as probes of quantum-spacetime corrections in strong-field regimes.

Perturbations of Black Holes Surrounded by Anisotropic Matter Field

Our research aims to probe the anisotropic matter field around black holes using black hole perturbation theory. Black holes in the universe are usually surrounded by matter or fields, and it is important to study the perturbation and the characteristic modes of a black hole that coexists with such a matter field. In this study, we focus on a family of black hole solutions to Einstein's equations that extend the Reissner-Nordström spacetime to include an anisotropic matter field. In addition to mass and charge, this type of black hole possesses additional hair due to the negative radial pressure of the anisotropic matter. We investigate the perturbations of the massless scalar and electromagnetic fields and calculate the quasinormal modes (QNMs). We also study the critical orbits around the black hole and their properties to investigate the connection between the eikonal QNMs, black hole shadow radius, and Lyapunov exponent. Additionally, we analyze the grey-body factors and scattering coefficients using the perturbation results. Our findings indicate that the presence of anisotropic matter fields leads to a splitting in the QNM frequencies compared to the Schwarzschild case. This splitting feature is also reflected in the shadow radius, Lyapunov exponent, and grey-body factors.

Near-horizon aspects of black holes in quantum spacetime

We give a short introduction to the formalism of noncommutative (twisted) differential geometry that is used to derive the equations of motion for the gravitational perturbation of the Schwarzschild black hole in quantized spacetime. Special attention is given to quantum spacetime arising from $r - φ$ noncommutativity. Tortoise coordinate and near-horizon regions of the effective potentials are analyzed for both polar and axial modes. By carefully examining the associated Schrödinger-type equations, we provide the asymptotic solutions at the horizon and illustrate some differences between the polar and axial modes. These findings give further insight into the polar-axial isospectrality violation in the presence of the quantum structure of spacetime.

Thermodynamics, Phase Transition and Joule Thomson Expansion of 4-D Gauss-Bonnet AdS Black Hole

We explore the thermodynamic and phase transition properties of asymptotically AdS black holes within Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity, focusing on Joule Thomson expansion. Thermodynamics is studied in the extended phase space, where the cosmological constant serves as thermodynamic pressure. We observe that the black hole undergoes a phase transition similar to that of a van der Waals system. We analyze charged and neutral cases separately to distinguish the effect of charge and Gauss Bonnet parameter on critical behavior and examine the phase structure. We find that the Gauss-Bonnet coupling parameter behaves similarly to black hole charge or spin, guiding the phase structure. To understand the underlying phase structure determined by the Gauss-Bonnet coefficient $α$, we introduce a new order parameter. We discover that the change in the conjugate variable to the Gauss-Bonnet parameter acts as an order parameter, demonstrating a critical exponent of $1/2$ in the vicinity of the critical point. Since the phase structure is analogous to that of a van der Waals fluid, we investigate the Joule-Thomson expansion of the black hole. We analytically study the Joule-Thomson expansion, focusing on three key characteristics: the Joule-Thomson coefficient, inversion curves, and isenthalpic curves. We obtain isenthalpic curves in the $T-P$ plane and illustrate the cooling-heating regions.

Lyapunov Exponents and Phase Structure of Lifshitz and Hyperscaling Violating Black Holes

We study the phase structure of hyperscaling violating black holes using Lyapunov exponents. For describing hyperscaling violating system, we chose a particular gravity model constructed from generalized Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton action which includes the Lifshitz cases in appropriate limit. We study the relationship between Lyapunov exponents and black hole phase transitions considering both the timelike and null geodesics. We observe that, the black hole phase transiton properties are reflected in Lyapunov exponent where its multiple branches correspond to the distinct phases of the black hole. The discontinuos change of the Lyapunov exponent during the phase transition serve as an order parameter with critical exponent $1/2$ near the critical point. Our numerical study reveals that the correlation between the Lyapunov exponent and black hole thermodynamic properties can be generalised beyond the AdS spacetime. We find that it is independent of the hyperscaling violation parameter as well as the Lifshitz exponent.

Dynamic Phase Transition of Black Holes in Massive Gravity

The dynamical properties of small-large black hole phase transition in dRGT non-linear massive gravity theory are studied based on the underlying free energy landscape. The free energy landscape is constructed by specifying the Gibbs free energy to every state, and the free energy profile is used to study the different black hole phases. The small-large black hole states are characterized by probability distribution functions and the kinetics of phase transition are described by the Fokker-Planck equation. Further, a detailed study of the first passage process is presented which describes the dynamics of phase transitions. Finally, we have investigated the effect of mass and topology on the dynamical properties of phase transitions of black holes in dRGT non-linear massive gravity theory.
