Notes about KP/BKP correspondence

I present a set of remarks related to joint works \cite{paper1},\cite{paper2},\cite{paper3},\cite{MMNO}. These are remarks about polynomials solutions and vertex operators, eigenproblem for polynomials and a remark related to the the conjecture of Alexandrov and Mironov, Morozov about the ratios of the projective Schur functions. New results on the bilinear relations between characters of the symmetric and of the Sergeev group and on bilinear relations between skew Schur and projective Schur functions and also between shifted Schur and projective Schur functions are added. Certain new matrix models are considered and a comment on Mironov-Morozov-Natanzon cut-and-join relation is added.

Pauli spin blockade in CMOS double quantum dot devices

Silicon quantum dots are attractive candidates for the development of scalable, spin-based qubits. Pauli spin blockade in double quantum dots provides an efficient, temperature independent mechanism for qubit readout. Here we report on transport experiments in double gate nanowire transistors issued from a CMOS process on 300 mm silicon-on-insulator wafers. At low temperature the devices behave as two few-electron quantum dots in series. We observe signatures of Pauli spin blockade with a singlet-triplet splitting ranging from 0.3 to 1.3 meV. Magneto-transport measurements show that transitions which conserve spin are shown to be magnetic-field independent up to B = 6 T.

Wiedemann-Franz law demonstration in a student practicum

Wiedemann-Franz law is a prediction of electronic theory of electric and thermal conductivity in metals, which states that a Lorenz ratio $L=κ/(σT)$, where $κ$ is a thermal conductivity, $σ$ --- electric conductivity and $T$ --- absolute temperature, is a universal constant in certain cases. We present here a simple experimental setup to verify this prediction in a teaching experiment.

Pfaffian structures and certain solutions to BKP hierarchies II. Multiple integrals

We introduce a useful and rather simple classes of BKP tau functions which which we shall shall call "easy tau functions". We consider the "large BKP hiearchy" related to $O(2\infty +1)$ which was introduced in \cite{KvdLbispec} (which is closely related to the DKP $O(2\infty) $hierarchy introduced in \cite{JM}). Actually "easy tau functions" of the small BKP was already considered in \cite{HLO}, here we are more interested in the large BKP and also the mixed small-large BKP tau functions \cite{KvdLbispec}. Tau functions under consideration are equal to sums over partitions and to multi-integrals. In this way they may be appliciable in models of random partitions and models of random matrices. Here in the part II we consider multi-intergals and series of $N$-ply integrals in $N$. Relations to matrix models is explained. This paper may be viewed as a developement of the the paper by J.van de Leur \cite{L1} related to orthogonal and symplectic ensembles of random matrices.

Guided modes in a spatially dispersive wire medium slab

We study the guided modes in the wire medium slab taking into account both the nonlocality and losses in the structure. We show that due to the fact that the wire medium is an extremeley spatially dispersive metamaterial, the effect of nonlocality plays a critical role since it results in coupling between the otherwise orthogonal guided modes. We observe both the effects of strong and weak coupling, depending on the level of losses in the system.

On third Poisson structure of KdV equation

The third Poisson structure of KdV equation in terms of canonical ``free fields'' and reduced WZNW model is discussed. We prove that it is ``diagonalized'' in the Lagrange variables which were used before in formulation of 2D gravity. We propose a quantum path integral for KdV equation based on this representation.

Higher Gel'fand-Dikii structures

We apply the procedure of Magri and Weinstein to produce an infinity of compatible Poisson structures on a bihamiltonian manifold, to the case of the KdV phase space. The higher Gel'fand-Dikii structures thus obtained contain non local terms, which we express with the help of the r.h.s. of the KdV hierarchy. We also give a generating function for all these Poisson structues, in terms of the Baker-Akhiezer functions. Finally we describe the symplectic leaves of these Poisson structures.
