Analysis of the TAIGA-HiSCORE Data Using the Latent Space of Autoencoders

The aim of extensive air shower (EAS) analysis is to reconstruct the physical parameters of the primary particle that initiated the shower. The TAIGA experiment is a hybrid detector system that combines several imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes (IACTs) and an array of non-imaging Cherenkov detectors (TAIGA-HiSCORE) for EAS detection. Because the signals recorded by different detector types differ in physical nature, the direct merging of data is unfeasible, which complicates multimodal analysis. Currently, to analyze data from the IACTs and TAIGA-HiSCORE, a set of auxiliary parameters specific to each detector type is calculated from the recorded signals. These parameters are chosen empirically, so there is no certainty that they retain all important information and are the best suited for the respective problems. We propose to use autoencoders (AE) for the analysis of TAIGA experimental data and replace the conventionally used auxiliary parameters with the parameters of the AE latent space. The advantage of the AE latent space parameters is that they preserve essential physics from experimental data without prior assumptions. This approach also holds potential for enabling seamless integration of heterogeneous IACT and HiSCORE data through a joint latent space. To reconstruct the parameters of the primary particle of the EAS from the latent space of the AE, a separate artificial neural network is used. In this paper, the proposed approach is used to reconstruct the energy of the EAS primary particles based on Monte Carlo simulation data for TAIGA-HiSCORE. The dependence of the energy determination accuracy on the dimensionality of the latent space is analyzed, and these results are also compared with the results obtained by the conventional technique. It is shown that when using the AE latent space, the energy of the primary particle is reconstructed with satisfactory accuracy.

Capability of using the normalizing flows for extraction rare gamma events in the TAIGA experiment

The objective of this work is to develop a method for detecting rare gamma quanta against the background of charged particles in the fluxes from sources in the Universe with the help of the deep learning and normalizing flows based method designed for anomaly detection. It is shown that the suggested method has a potential for the gamma detection. The method was tested on model data from the TAIGA-IACT experiment. The obtained quantitative performance indicators are still inferior to other approaches, and therefore possible ways to improve the implementation of the method are proposed.

Selection of gamma events from IACT images with deep learning methods

Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs) of gamma ray observatory TAIGA detect the Extesnive Air Showers (EASs) originating from the cosmic or gamma rays interactions with the atmosphere. Thereby, telescopes obtain images of the EASs. The ability to segregate gamma rays images from the hadronic cosmic ray background is one of the main features of this type of detectors. However, in actual IACT observations simultaneous observation of the background and the source of gamma ray is needed. This observation mode (called wobbling) modifies images of events, which affects the quality of selection by neural networks. Thus, in this work, the results of the application of neural networks (NN) for image classification task on Monte Carlo (MC) images of TAIGA-IACTs are presented. The wobbling mode is considered together with the image adaptation for adequate analysis by NNs. Simultaneously, we explore several neural network structures that classify events both directly from images or through Hillas parameters extracted from images. In addition, by employing NNs, MC simulation data are used to evaluate the quality of the segregation of rare gamma events with the account of all necessary image modifications.

Polynomial Algebras and Higher Spins

Polynomial relations for generators of $su(2)$ Lie algebra in arbitrary representations are found. They generalize usual relation for Pauli operators in spin 1/2 case and permit to construct modified Holstein-Primakoff transformations in finite dimensional Fock spaces. The connection between $su(2)$ Lie algebra and q-oscillators with a root of unity q-parameter is considered. The meaning of the polynomial relations from the point of view of quantum mechanics on a sphere are discussed.

Geometry of Quantum Group Twists, Multidimensional Jackson Calculus and Regularization

We show that R-matricies of all simple quantum groups have the properties which permit to present quantum group twists as transitions to other coordinate frames on quantum spaces. This implies physical equivalence of field theories invariant with respect to q-groups (considered as q-deformed space-time groups of transformations) connected with each other by the twists. Taking into account this freedom we study quantum spaces of the special type: with commuting coordinates but with q-deformed differential calculus and construct $GL_r(N)$ invariant multidimensional Jackson derivatives. We consider a particle and field theory on a two-dimensional q-space of this kind and come to the conclusion that only one (time-like) coordinate proved to be discretized.

Path Integrals with Generalized Grassmann Variables

We construct path integral representations for the evolution operator of q-oscillators with root of unity values of q-parameter using Bargmann-Fock representations with commuting and non-commuting variables, the differential calculi being q-deformed in both cases. For $q^2=-1$ we obtain a new form of Grassmann-like path integral.

Large Quantum Poincare Subgroup of q-Conformal Group and q-Minkowski Geometry

We construct quantum deformation of Poincaré group using as a starting point $SU(2,2)$ conformal group and twistor-like definition of the Minkowski space. We obtain quantum deformation of $SU(2,2)$ as a real form of multiparametric $GL(4,C)_{q_{ij},r}$. It is shown that Poincaré subgroup exists for special nonstandard one-parametric deformation only, the deformation parameter $r$ being equal to unity. This leads to commuting affine structure of the corresponding Minkowski space and simple structure of the corresponding Lie algebra, the deformation of the group being non-trivial.

Manifestations of Space-Time Multidimensionality in Scattering of Scalar Particles

We analyze a possibility of experimental detection of the contribution of the Kaluza-Klein tower of heavy particles to scattering cross-section in a six-dimensional scalar model with two dimensions being compactified to the torus with the radii $R$. It is shown that there is a noticeable effect even for the energies of colliding particles below $R^{-1}$ which may be observed in future collider experiments if $R^{-1}$ is of the order of $1 TeV$.

Q-Deformed Path Integral

Using differential and integral calculi on the quantum plane which are invariant with respect to quantum inhomogeneous Euclidean group E(2)q , we construct path integral representation for the quantum mechanical evolution operator kernel of q-oscillator.
