The influence of noise on two- and three-frequency quasi-periodicity in a simple model system

We discuss the effect of noise on a system with a quasi-periodicity of different dimensions. As the basic model of our research we use the simplest three-dimensional map with two-frequency and three-frequency quasi-periodicity. Modification of the dynamical regimes at the influence of noise is considered with the help of Lyapunov chart method. The transformation of Lyapunov exponents plots characteristic for the quasi-periodic Hopf bifurcation of 3-torus birth at the presence of noise is examined.

The simplest map with three-frequency quasi-periodicity and quasi-periodic bifurcations

We propose a new three-dimensional map that demonstrates the two- and three-frequency quasi-periodicity. For this map all basic quasi-periodic bifurcations are possible. The study was realized by using method of Lyapunov charts completed by plots of Lyapunov exponents, phase portraits and bifurcation trees illustrating the quasi-periodic bifurcations. The features of the three-parameter structure associated with quasi-periodic Hopf bifurcation are discussed. The comparison with non-autonomous model is carried out.

Different types of critical behavior in conservatively coupled Hénon maps

We study the dynamics of two conservatively coupled Hénon maps at different levels of dissipation. It is shown that the decrease of dissipation leads to changes in the parameter plane structure and scenarios of transition to chaos comparing with the case of infinitely strong dissipation. Particularly, the Feigenbaum line becomes divided into several fragments. Some of these fragments have critical points of different types, namely of C and H type, as their terminal points. Also the mechanisms of formation of these Feigenbaum line ruptures are described.

Synchronization of forced reactively coupled van der Pol oscilators

Synchronization of forced reactively coupled van der Pol oscillators is investigated in the phase approximation. We discuss essential features of the reactive coupling. Bifurcation mechanisms for the destruction of complete synchronization and possible quasi-periodic regimes of different types are revealed. Regimes when autonomous oscillators demonstrate frequency locking and beating regimes with incommensurate frequencies are considered and compared.

Multistability and transition to chaos in the degenerate Hamiltonian system with weak nonlinear dissipative perturbation

The effect of small nonlinear dissipation on the dynamics of system with stochastic web which is linear oscillator driven by pulses is studied. The scenario of coexisting attractors evolution with the increase of nonlinear dissipation is revealed. It is shown that the period-doubling transition to chaos is possible only for third order resonance and only hard transitions can be seen for all other resonances.

Synchronization of forced quasi-periodic coupled oscillators

The problem of synchronization of coupled self-oscillators by external force is studied. The charts of Lyapunov's exponents in the "frequency - amplitude" parameter plane are obtained within the framework of the phase approximation. We identified the characteristic configurations of the domains of complete synchronization, two- and three-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations and different variants of partial synchronization of oscillators by an external force. The differences between regimes of mode locking and beats of partial oscillators are revealed and discussed. To visualize and analyze the domains of resonant two-frequency tori we construct the charts, in which regions of dynamics with different winding numbers are represented by colors.

On the road towards multidimensional tori

The problem of persistence of four-frequency tori is considered in models represented by the coupled periodically driven self-oscillators. We show that the adding the third oscillator gives rise to destruction of the three-frequency tori, with appearance of regions of either chaotic attractors or four-frequency tori. As the coupling strength decreases, the four-frequency tori dominate, and the amplitude threshold of their occurrence vanishes. Also, for three oscillators, a domain of complete synchronization of the system by the external driving can disappear.

Synchronization of Coupled Anizochronous Auto-Oscillating Systems

The particular properties of synchronization are discussed for coupled auto-oscillating systems, which are characterized by non-quadratic law of potential dependence on the coordinate. In particular, structure of the parameter plane (frequency mismatch - coupling value) is considered for coupled van der Pol - Duffing oscillators. The arrangement of synchronization tongues and the particular properties of their internal structure in the parameter space are revealed. The features of attractors in the phase space are discussed.

Dynamics of coupled non-identical systems with period-doubling cascade

Structure of bifurcation diagram in the plane of parameters controlling period-doublings for the system of coupled logistic maps is discussed. The analysis is carried out by computing the charts of dynamical regimes and charts of Lyapunov exponents giving showy and effective illustrations. The critical point of codimension two at the border of chaos is found. It is a terminal point for the Feigenbaum critical line. The bifurcation analysis in the vicinity of this point is presented.

Features of pulsed synchronization of a systems with a tree-dimensional phase space

Features of synchronization picture in the system with the limit cycle embedded in a three-dimensional phase space are considered. By the example of Ressler system and Dmitriev - Kislov generator under the action of a periodic sequence of delta - function it is shown, that synchronization picture significantly depends on the direction of pulse action. Features of synchronization tons appeared in these models are observed.

On some properties of nearly conservative dynamics of Ikeda map and its relation with the conservative case

The behavior of the well-known Ikeda map with very weak dissipation (so called nearly conservative case) is investigated. The changes in the bifurcation structure of the parameter plane while decreasing the dissipation are revealed. It is shown that when the dissipation is very weak the system demonstrates an "intermediate" type of dynamics combining the peculiarities of conservative and dissipative dynamics. The correspondence between the trajectories in the phase space in conservative case and the transformations of the set of initial conditions in the nearly conservative case is revealed. The dramatic increase of number of coexisting low-period attractors and the extraordinary growth of the transient time while the dissipation decreases have been revealed. The method of plotting a bifurcation trees for the set of initial conditions has been used to classify existing attractors by it's structure. Also it was shown that most of coexisting attractors are destroyed by rather small external noise, and the transient time in noisy driven systems increases still more. The new method of two-parameter analysis of conservative systems was proposed.
