Spin waves scattering on a Bloch point

We show that, after a transformation, the dynamics of linear perturbations (spin waves) around a singular Bloch point soliton is formally equivalent to a quantum system of an electron in a magnetic monopole field. The analytical solution to this problem is known and allows us to find the spectrum and the scattering of a wave in a Bloch point field.

Trigonal distortion of topologically confined channels in bilayer Graphene

In this work we show that the trigonal warping of the electronic bands in bilayer graphene dramatically modifies the behavior of the one-dimensional modes topologically confined due to an inhomogeneous bias that changes sign across a channel. The topologically protected states are present but their behavior is disrupted from the predicted in the isotropic approximation. We present detailed studies of the electronic properties of the 1D channel in function of the orientation of the channel.

Colossal anisotropy in diluted magnetic topological insulators

We consider dilute magnetic doping in the surface of a three dimensional topological insulator where a two dimensional Dirac electron gas resides. We find that exchange coupling between magnetic atoms and the Dirac electrons has a strong and peculiar effect on both. First, the exchange-induced single ion magnetic anisotropy is very large and favors off-plane orientation. In the case of ferromagnetically ordered phase we find a colossal magnetic anisotropy energy, of the order of the critical temperature. Second, a persistent electronic current circulates around the magnetic atom and, in the case of a ferromagnetic phase, around the edges of the surface.

Influence of a Uniform Current on Collective Magnetization Dynamics in a Ferromagnetic Metal

We discuss the influence of a uniform current, $\vec{j} $, on the magnetization dynamics of a ferromagnetic metal. We find that the magnon energy $ε(\vec{q})$ has a current-induced contribution proportional to $\vec{q}\cdot \vec{\cal J}$, where $\vec{\cal J}$ is the spin-current, and predict that collective dynamics will be more strongly damped at finite ${\vec j}$. We obtain similar results for models with and without local moment participation in the magnetic order. For transition metal ferromagnets, we estimate that the uniform magnetic state will be destabilized for $j \gtrsim 10^{9} {\rm A} {\rm cm}^{-2}$. We discuss the relationship of this effect to the spin-torque effects that alter magnetization dynamics in inhomogeneous magnetic systems.
