Stacked-Ring Ion Guide for Cooling and Bunching Rare Isotopes

In modern rare isotope facilities, ion cooling and bunching lies at the heart of the ion transfer along a low-energy beam line that consists of several differential pumping stages. We present a conceptual design of an ion guide as an alternative to the conventional linear Radio-Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) for cooling and bunching rare isotopes. The ion guide is composed of stacked ring electrodes of varying apertures, to which a confining RF potential following a rectangular waveform is applied. The thicknesses of the rings and the gaps in between are varied accordingly to maximize the confining volume and to reduce ion losses. Ion transport within the ion guide is facilitated by a lower-frequency wave traveling on top of the higher-frequency confining field. The former is induced by locally adjusting the duty cycle of the rectangular waveform of the confining potential. Design parameters are first calculated by analytical studies and then optimized by ion trajectory simulations with SIMION. The results show that the ion guide enables high ion transmission and produces well focused ion bunches. It will be used in the NEXT project, an experimental study of atomic masses of Neutron-rich EXotic nuclei produced in multi-nucleon Transfer reactions.

The Energy Eigenvalues of the Two Dimensional Hydrogen Atom in a Magnetic Field

In this paper, the energy eigenvalues of the two dimensional hydrogen atom are presented for the arbitrary Larmor frequencies by using the asymptotic iteration method. We first show the energy eigenvalues for the no magnetic field case analytically, and then we obtain the energy eigenvalues for the strong and weak magnetic field cases within an iterative approach for $n=2-10$ and $m=0-1$ states for several different arbitrary Larmor frequencies. The effect of the magnetic field on the energy eigenvalues is determined precisely. The results are in excellent agreement with the findings of the other methods and our method works for the cases where the others fail.

Higher Twist Effects in Photon-Photon Collisions

In this article, we investigate the contribution of the high twist Feynman diagrams to the large $p_{T}$ single pseudoscalar and vector mesons inclusive production cross section in two-photon collisions and we present the general formulae for the high and leading twist differential cross sections. The pion wave function where two non-trivial Gegenbauer coefficients $a_2$ and $a_4$ have been extracted from the CLEO data, Braun-Filyanov pion wave function, the asymptotic and the Chernyak-Zhitnitsky wave functions are used in the calculations. For $ρ$-meson we used Ball-Braun wave function. The results of all the calculations reveal that the high twist cross sections, the ratio R, the dependence transverse momentum $p_{T}$ and the rapidity $y$ of meson in $Φ_{CLEO}(x,Q^2)$ wave function case is very close to the $Φ_{asy}(x)$ asymptotic wave function case. It is shown that the high twist contribution to the cross section depends on the choice of the meson wave functions.

Investigation of the nuetralino pair production at LHC

In this article, we investigate the Drell-Yan process of the light neutralino pair $\widetildeχ_{i}^{0}\widetildeχ_{j}^{0}$ ($i,j=1,2$) productions at proton-proton collisions and we present the general formulate for the differential cross sections. We conduct an extensive examination of the dependence of the total cross section of the subprocesses $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{i}^{0}\widetildeχ_{j}^{0}$ on the beam energy, on the mass of the squarks and also on the $M_2$ gaugino for the three extremely different scenarios. For all three cases, the outcomes are as follows. The dependence of the total cross section of the subprocesses $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{i}^{0} \widetilde χ_{j}^{0}$ on the beam energy is dominated by one of the subprocesses, $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{1}^{0} \widetilde χ_{2}^{0}$. On the other hand, the dependence of the total cross section of the subprocesses $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{i}^{0} \widetilde χ_{j}^{0}$ on the mass of the squarks is dominated by one of the subprocesses, $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{1}^{0} \widetilde χ_{2}^{0}$. We derive there from that our findings may lead to new insights relating to experimental investigations and these dependencies may be used as bases of an experimental research for the neutralino pair at LHC.

Higher Twist Effects in Proton-Proton Collisions

In this article, we investigate the contribution of the high twist Feynman diagrams to the large-$p_T$ pion production cross section in proton-proton collisions and we present the general formulae for the high and leading twist differential cross sections. The pion wave function where two non-trivial Gegenbauer coefficients $a_2$ and $a_4$ have been extracted from the CLEO data, two other pion model wave functions, $P_2$, $P_3$, the asymptotic and the Chernyak-Zhitnitsky wave functions are used in the calculations. The results of all the calculations reveal that the high twist cross sections, the ratios $R$, $r$, the dependence transverse momentum $p_T$ and the rapidity $y$ of pion in the $Φ_{CLEO}(x,Q^2)$ wave function case is very close to the $Φ_{asy}(x)$ asymptotic wave function case. It is shown that the high twist contribution to the cross section depends on the choice of the meson wave functions.
