Canonical transformations in three-dimensional phase space

Canonical transformation in a three-dimensional phase space endowed with Nambu bracket is discussed in a general framework. Definition of the canonical transformations is constructed as based on canonoid transformations. It is shown that generating functions, transformed Hamilton functions and the transformation itself for given generating functions can be determined by solving Pfaffian differential equations corresponding to that quantities. Types of the generating functions are introduced and all of them is listed. Infinitesimal canonical transformations are also discussed. Finally, we show that decomposition of canonical transformations is also possible in three-dimensional phase space as in the usual two-dimensional one.

Quantum canonical transformations in Weyl-Wigner-Groenewold-Moyal formalism

A conjecture in quantum mechanics states that any quantum canonical transformation can decompose into a sequence of three basic canonical transformations; gauge, point and interchange of coordinates and momenta. It is shown that if one attempts to construct the three basic transformations in star-product form, while gauge and point transformations are immediate in star-exponential form, interchange has no correspondent, but it is possible in an ordinary exponential form. As an alternative approach, it is shown that all three basic transformations can be constructed in the ordinary exponential form and that in some cases this approach provides more useful tools than the star-exponential form in finding the generating function for given canonical transformation or vice versa. It is also shown that transforms of c-number phase space functions under linear-nonlinear canonical transformations and intertwining method can be treated within this argument.

Integral-free Wigner functions

Wigner phase space quasi-probability distribution function is a Fourier transform related to a given quantum mechanical wave function. It is shown that for the wave functions of type $ψ(q)=e^{-aq^2}ϕ(q)$, the Wigner function can be defined in terms of differential operators acting on a given function, independently from the integral formula which appears in the standard definition. Gaussian wave packet, harmonic and singular oscillators are given as the examples.

Two-particle Wigner functions in a one-dimensional Calogero-Sutherland potential

We calculate the Wigner distribution function for the Calogero-Sutherland system which consists of harmonic and inverse-square interactions. The Wigner distribution function is separated out into two parts corresponding to the relative and center-of-mass motions. A general expression for the relative Wigner function is obtained in terms of the Laguerre polynomials by introducing a new identity between Hermite and Laguerre polynomials.

$\hbar$-independent Universality of the Quantum-Classical Canonical Transformations

A theory of non-unitary-invertible as well as unitary canonical transformations is formulated in the context of Weyl's phase space representations. That all quantum canonical transformations without an explicit $\hbar$ dependence are also classical mechanical and vice versa is demonstrated in the phase space. Contrary to some earlier results, it is also shown that the quantum generators and their classical counterparts are identical and $\hbar$-independent. The latter is a powerful result bringing the theory of classical canonical transformations and the $\hbar$-independent quantum ones on an equal footing.

Momentum Map and Action-Angle Variables for Nambu Dynamics

Momentum map is a reduction procedure that reduces the dimension of a Hamiltonian system to the lower ones. It is shown that behavior of the action-angle variables under the momentum map generates the new action-angle variables for the reduced system considered as a Nambu structure. The symmetrical top is given as an illustration.

Superintegrable Systems, Multi-Hamiltonian Structures and Nambu Mechanics in an Arbitrary Dimension

A general algebraic condition for the functional independence of 2n-1 constants of motion of an n-dimensional maximal superintegrable Hamiltonian system has been proved for an arbitrary finite n. This makes it possible to construct, in a well-defined generic way, a normalized Nambu bracket which produces the correct Hamiltonian time evolution. Existence and explicit forms of pairwise compatible multi-Hamiltonian structures for any maximal superintegrable system have been established. The Calogero-Moser system, motion of a charged particle in a uniform perpendicular magnetic field and Smorodinsky-Winternitz potentials are considered as illustrative applications and their symmetry algebras as well as their Nambu formulations and alternative Poisson structures are presented.

Intertwined isospectral potentials in an arbitrary dimension

The method of intertwining with n-dimensional (nD) linear intertwining operator L is used to construct nD isospectral, stationary potentials. It has been proven that differential part of L is a series in Euclidean algebra generators. Integrability conditions of the consistency equations are investigated and the general form of a class of potentials respecting all these conditions have been specified for each n=2,3,4,5. The most general forms of 2D and 3D isospectral potentials are considered in detail and construction of their hierarchies is exhibited. The followed approach provides coordinate systems which make it possible to perform separation of variables and to apply the known methods of supersymmetric quantum mechanics for 1D systems. It has been shown that in choice of coordinates and L there are a number of alternatives increasing with $n$ that enlarge the set of available potentials. Some salient features of higher dimensional extension as well as some applications of the results are presented.
