Probe of the Randall-Sundrum-like model with the small curvature via light-by-light scattering at the LHC

The LHC possibilities to constrain the parameters of the Randall-Sundrum-like model with one warped extra dimension and small curvature through the diphoton production in the photon-induced process pp -> p gamma gamma p -> p' gamma gamma p' are investigated. Two acceptances of the forward detectors, 0.015 < xi < 0.15 and 0.015 < xi < 0.5, where xi is the fractional proton momentum loss of the incident protons, are considered. The sensitivity bounds on the 5-dimensional gravity scale are obtained as a function of the LHC integrated luminosity.

Search for the RS model with a small curvature through photon-induced process at the LHC

In this paper, potential of the LHC to explore the phenomenology of the Randall-Sundrum-like scenario with the small curvature for the process $pp \to p γγp \to p μ^- μ^+p $ through the subprocess $γγ\to μ^- μ^+$ is examined for two forward detector acceptances, $0.0015 < ξ< 0.5$ and $0.1< ξ<0.5$. This process is known to be one of the most clean channels. The sensitivity bounds on the anomalous model parameters have been found at the $95\%$ confidence level for various LHC integrated luminosity values.

Bound on a flux of ultra-high energy neutrinos in a scenario with extra dimensions

Assuming that a single-flavor diffuse neutrino flux dN_nu/dE_nu is equal to k*E_nu^(-2) in the energy range 10^(17) eV - 2.5*10^(19) eV, an upper bound on k is calculated in the ADD model as a function of the number of extra dimensions n and gravity scale M_D. An expected number of neutrino induced events at the Surface Detector array of the Pierre Auger Observatory is estimated.

Bound on a diffuse flux of ultra-high energy neutrinos in the ADD model

The search for ultra-high energy downward-going and Earth-skimming cosmic neutrinos by the Surface Detector array of the Pierre Auger Observatory (PAO) is analyzed in the ADD model with n extra flat spatial dimensions. We assumed that the diffuse neutrino flux dN_nu/dE_nu$ is equal to k E_nu^(-20) in the energy range 10^(17) eV - 2.5 10^(19) eV. Taking into account that no neutrino events where found by the PAO, we have estimated an upper bound on a value of k. It is shown that this bound can be stronger than the upper bound on k recently obtained by the Pierre Auger Collaboration, depending on n and (n+4)-dimensional gravity scale M_D.

Ramanujan's Master Theorem and two formulas for zero-order Hankel transform

Using Ramanujan's Master Theorem, two formulas are derived which define the Hankel transforms of order zero with even functions by inverse Mellin transforms, provided these functions and their derivatives obey special conditions. Their validity is illustrated by a number of examples. With a help of one of these formulas, one as yet unknown parametric improper integral of the Bessel function J_0(x) is calculated.

Warped extra dimension and inclined events at Pierre Auger Observatory

The generalized solution for the warp factor of the Randall-Sundrum metric is presented which is symmetric with respect to both branes and explicitly periodic in extra variable. Given that the curvature of the 5-dimensional space-time is small, the expected rate of neutrino-induced inclined events at the Surface Detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory is calculated. Both the "downward-going" (DG) and "Earth-skimming" (ES) neutrinos are considered. By comparing the expected event rate with the recent Auger data on searching for neutrino candidates, the lower bound on the fundamental gravity scale M_5 is obtained. The ratio of the number of the ES air showers to the number of the DG showers is estimated as a function of M_5.

Generalization of the Randall-Sundrum solution

The generalization of the Randall-Sundrum solution for the warp factor exp[sigma(y)] in the scenario with one extra coordinate y, non-factorizable space-time geometry and two branes isobtained. It is shown that the function obtained sigma(y) is symmetric with respect to an interchange of two branes. It also obeys the orbifold symmetry y -> - y and explicitly reproduces jumps of its derivative on both branes. This solution is defined by the Einstein-Hilbert's equations up to a constant C. It is demonstrated that different values of C results in theories with quite different spectra of the Kaluza-Klein gravitons.

Approximate formulas for moderately small eikonal amplitudes

The eikonal approximation for moderately small scattering amplitudes is considered. With the purpose of using for their numerical estimations, the formulas are derived which contain no Bessel functions, and, hence, no rapidly oscillating integrands. To obtain these formulas, the improper integrals of the first kind which contain products of the Bessel functions J_0(z) are studied. The expression with four functions J_0(z) is generalized. The expressions for the integrals with the product of five and six Bessel functions J_0(z) are also found. The known formula for the improper integral with two functions J_nu(z) is generalized for non-integer nu.

General solution for the warp function in the RS scenario

The five-dimensional space-time, with non-factorizable geometry and fifth dimension y being an orbifold S^1/Z_2, is studied. In such a scenario, originally suggested by Randall and Sundrum, there exist two branes at fixed points of the orbifold, and the four-dimensional metric is multiplied by a warp factor exp[sigma(y)]. In the present paper, the general solution sigma(y) of the Einstein-Hilbert's equations is presented which is symmetric with respect to the interchange of two branes. It obeys the orbifold symmetry y -> - y and explicitly reproduces jumps of its derivative on both branes. This general solution for sigma(y) is determined by the Einstein-Hilbert's equations up to a constant, that results in physically diverse schemes.

Physical models within the framework of the Randall-Sundrum scenario

The Randall-Sundrum scenario with non-factorizable geometry and fifth dimension y being an orbifold, is studied. It has two branes located at fixed points of the orbifold. The four-dimensional metric is multiplied by a warp factor exp[sigma(y)]. Recently, a new general expression for sigma(y) was derived which has the orbifold symmetry y -> - y and explicitly reproduces jumps of its derivative on both branes. It is symmetric with respect to the branes. The function sigma(y) is determined by the Einstein-Hilbert's equations up to a constant C. In the present paper we demonstrate that different values of C result in quite different physical schemes. Three schemes are considered, among which are: (i) the RS1 model; (ii) the RSSC model with a small curvature of the five-dimensional space-time; (iii) the "symmetric" scheme with C=0. The latter scenario is studied in detail.

Randall-Sundrum model with a small curvature and dielectron production at the LHC

In the framework Randall-Sundrum-like scenario with the small curvature kappa (RSSC model), p_t-distributions for the dielectron production at the LHC are calculated. For the summary statistics taken at 7 TeV (L = 5 fb-1) and 8 TeV (L = 20 fb-1), the exclusion limit on the 5-dimensional gravity scale M_5 is found to be 6.35 TeV at 95% C.L. For sqrt(s) = 13 TeV and integrated luminosity 30 fb-1, the LHC search limit is estimated to be 8.95 TeV. These limits on M_5 are independent of kappa, provided the relation kappa << M_5 is satisfied.

Randall-Sundrum model with a small curvature and dimuon production at the LHC

The $p_{\perp}$-distributions for the dimuon production at the LHC are calculated in the Randall-Sundrum scenario with a small curvature $κ$. The $pp$ collisions at 7 TeV and 14 TeV are considered. The widths of massive graviton excitations are taken into account. It is found that the LHC discovery limit on 5-dimensional gravity scale $M_5$ is equal to 5.5 TeV for $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV and integrated luminositiy 5 fb$^{-1}$. For $\sqrt{s} = 14$ TeV and integrated luminosities 30 fb$^{-1}$ and 100 fb$^{-1}$, the search limits in the dimuon events are 12.0 TeV and 14.6 TeV, respectively. Contrary to the standard RS model, these limits are independent of $κ$, provided $κ\ll M_5$.

RS model with a small curvature and Drell-Yan process at the LHC

The $p_{\perp}$-distribution for a dilepton production at the LHC with high luminosity is calculated in the Randall-Sundrum scenario with a small curvature $κ$. The widths of massive gravitons are taken into account. The discovery limits on 5-dimensional gravity scale $M_5$ are obtained to be 17.8 TeV and 21.6 TeV for $\sqrt{s} = 14$ TeV and integrated luminosities 1000 fb$^{-1}$ and 3000 fb$^{-1}$, respectively. Contrary to the standard RS model, these limits do not depend on parameter $κ$.

Gravity effects in inclined air showers induced by cosmic neutrino

The Randall-Sundrum model with a small curvature is considered in which five-dimensional Planck scale lies in the TeV region, and a spectrum of Kaluza-Klein gravitons reminds that in one flat extra dimension. The cross sections for interactions of ultra-high energy cosmic neutrinos with nucleons are calculated. It is shown that effects related with massive graviton excitations can be detected in deeply penetrating inclined air showers induced by these neutrinos. The expected number of air showers at the Auger Observatory is estimated as a function of two parameters of the model.

RS model with a small curvature and two-photon production at the LHC

The p_trans-distribution for the diphoton production at the LHC is calculated in the modified Randall-Sundrum model with a small curvature of the space-time kappa, and 5-dimensional Planck scale M_5 in the TeV region. The discovery limits on M_5 are obtained to be 9.4 TeV and 11.6 TeV for the integrated luminosities 30 fb^(-1) and 100 fb^(-1), respectively. These limits do not depend on kappa provided it is much smaller than M_5. The account of graviton widths is a crucial points of our calculations.
