OPTIMus-Survey of massive star-forming regions at OPTical, Infrared, and Millimeter wavelengths

This work presents a description of the scientific goals and objectives of OPTIMus (OPTical, Infrared, Millimeter survey of massive star-forming regions), a survey of massive star-forming regions in the optical, infrared, and millimeter wavelengths. The survey is aimed at constructing a comprehensive characterization of the multicomponent and structurally complex interstellar medium in the vicinity of young massive stars, combining both observational and theoretical aspects. Using multi-wavelength observational data, we will reconstruct the three-dimensional structure and determine the physical parameters of HII regions, photodissociation regions, and the surrounding molecular clouds. The paper describes the observational data obtained with the BTA 6-m and Zeiss-1000 telescopes of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the 2.5-m telescope of the Caucasian Mountain Observatory of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute of Moscow State University, and the 20-m telescope of the Onsala Space Observatory.

Long-Slit Spectroscopy Of Herbig-Haro Outflow System, Associated With IRAS 01166+6635

We present long-slit spectroscopic observations of the outflow associated with an infrared source IRAS 01166+6635, conducted with the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory using the SCORPIO-2 focal reducer. The structure of the flow as investigated in detail, its position-velocity diagrams are constructed. The electron densities of the several knots in the outflow were estimated, revealing a decrease in its density with increasing distance from the driving source.

Optical Spectroscopy of the IR Source CPM 19 and Surrounding Objects

Optical spectra of the well-known infrared source CPM~19, which exhibited a strong decline in brightness during the period from 1984--1987 to 2000--2005, have been obtained for the first time. A strong and broad H$α$ emission line has been detected, along with the possible presence of [S II] emission. No traces of an absorption spectrum are observed. It is suggested that the optical component of CPM 19 is in the pre-main-sequence stage. Various explanations of the observed properties are considered; a plausible scenario is that CPM 19 may belong to the class of UX Ori-type stars with an unusually long eclipse duration, similar to that observed in V1184 Tau. Spectra of other nebulous objects in the vicinity of CPM 19, including the HH objects HH 940 and HH 941, have also been obtained and discussed.

Archaeology of Galactic Nuclei Activity

Considerable observational evidence suggests that the activity of supermassive black holes in galactic nuclei is transient. The term ``active galactic nuclei archaeology'' has even been coined. This implies the possibility of reconstructing the history of activity, such as changes in the nuclear luminosity over time across various regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, by analysing how this activity manifested itself on galactic and extragalactic spatial scales. These phenomena include relic radio structures, gas clouds illuminated by the ``ionising echo'' of past activity, and Fermi/eROSITA bubbles. We provide a review of the results of galactic nucleus activity studies, focusing on its observable impact on the intergalactic medium and circumgalactic environment. Our main focus is on optical observations of ionisation cones and evidence of switching between radiative (ionisation cones) and kinetic (radio jets) modes of nuclear activity.

Complex investigations of an active star-formation region in southern part of Mon R2

We continue to present the results of a Byurakan Narrow Band Imaging Survey (BNBIS). In this work we present the results of the search and further detailed investigation of the objects, found in the course of the BNBIS survey in the southern part of the Mon R2 association. For the search of HH objects the narrow band images, obtained with the 1-m Schmidt telescope of the Byurakan Observatory, were used. Newly found objects were imaged in optical and near-IR range with the Apache Point Observatory 3.5 meter telescope, and observed spectrally with long-slit spectrograph and scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer on 6 m telescope of Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences using SCORPIO-2. We found three new HH groups: HH 1233, HH 1234 and HH 1235, two of them represent extended collimated flows. HH 1233 is the C-shape bipolar outflow system associated with the 2MASS 06084223$-$0657385 source star. HH 1234 is the helical chain of HH knots near the star V963 Mon. HH 1235 is a separate compact knot, connected with the visible only in mid- and far-IR source WISE J060856.57$-$070103.5. We found also several molecular hydrogen outflows, one of which coincides with HH 1233 and two other are associated with the deeply embedded IR sources in the same field. One more probable bipolar H$_2$ outflow is related to WISE J060856.57$-$070103.5. The emission spectra and spectral energy distributions of the source stars were analyzed. According to them they should be under rather early evolutional stage.

Two epoch spectra-imagery of PV Cep outflow system

We continue to study the structure and kinematics of HH flows. Herbig-Haro (HH) flows exhibit large variety of morphological and kinematical structures. Both proper motion (PM) and radial velocity investigations are essential to understand the physical nature of such structures. We investigate the kinematics and PM of spectrally separated structures in the PV Cep HH flow HH 215. We present the observational results obtained with a 6 m telescope (Russia) using the SCORPIO multi-mode focal reducer with scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer. Two epochs of the observations of the PV Cep region in H$α$ and [SII] emission (2003 and 2020-2021) allowed us to study the morphology of HH 215 jet in detail and to measure the PM and the radial velocities for its inner structures. Already known emission knots in the HH 215 flow and new features were studied. Moreover, a newly-formed HH knot was revealed, presumably formed during the large maximum of PV Cep star in 1976-1977. We found the high-velocity inner channel in the HH 215 ionized outflow, oriented accordingly to the mean direction of the whole HH outflow and the axis of the symmetry of the reflection nebula. The HH-knots located along the axis of the high-velocity channel have a position angle coinciding with its axis (abut 325$^{\circ}$), however other ones have completely different value (about 25$^{\circ}$), which supports the idea that those knots are formed by oblique shocks. We derived the value of i $\approx$ 30$^{\circ}$$\pm$ 5$^{\circ}$ for the inclination angle between the flow axis and the line of sight. The total length of HH 215 outflow should be about 0.2 pc, and the full length of the bipolar outflow from PV Cep (HH 315 + HH 215) can be estimated as 3.6 pc, assuming that it more or less keeps the same inclination angle.

Parameters of Star Formation Regions in Galaxies NGC 3963 and NGC 7292

Results of a study of physical parameters of stellar population in star formation regions in galaxies with signs of peculiarity NGC 3963 and NGC 7292 are presented. The study was carried out based on the analysis of photometric (UBVRI bands), H-alpha and spectroscopic data obtained by the authors, using evolutionary models of stellar population. Among 157 star formation regions identified in galaxies, the young stellar population mass estimates were obtained for 16 of them and the age estimates were obtained for 15. The age of star formation regions clearly correlates with the presence of emission in the H-alpha line: HII regions in the galaxies are younger than 6-8 Myr, and the regions without gas emission are older. The studied objects are included in the version 3 of our catalogue of photometric, physical and chemical parameters of star formation regions, which includes 1667 objects in 21 galaxies. Key aspects of the technique used to estimate the physical parameters and different relations between observational and physical parameters of the young stellar population in star formation regions are discussed.

Optical Identification and Spectroscopic Redshift Measurements of 216 Galaxy Clusters from the SRG/eROSITA All-Sky Survey

We present the results of the optical identification and spectroscopic redshift measurements of 216 galaxy clusters detected in the SRG/eROSITA all-sky X-ray survey. The spectroscopic observations were performed in 2020-2023 with the 6-m BTA telescope at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the 2.5-m telescope at the Caucasus Mountain Observatory of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute of the Moscow State University, the 1.6-m AZT-33IK telescope at the Sayan Solar Observatory of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the 1.5-m Russian-Turkish telescope (RTT-150) at the TÜBİTAK Observatory. For all of the galaxy clusters presented here the spectroscopic redshift measurements have been obtained for the first time. Of these, 139 galaxy clusters have been detected for the first time in the SRG/eROSITA survey and 22 galaxy clusters are at redshifts $z_{spec} \gtrsim 0.7$, including three at $z_{spec} \gtrsim 1$. Deep direct images with the rizJK filters have also been obtained for four distant galaxy clusters at $z_{spec} > 0.7$. For these observations the most massive clusters are selected. Therefore, most of the galaxy clusters presented here most likely will be included in the cosmological samples of galaxy clusters from the SRG/eROSITA survey.

Gas Kinematics in the Magellanic-Type Galaxy NGC 7292

The paper presents results of studying the kinematics of the ionized gas in the galaxy of the Large Magellanic Cloud type NGC 7292 obtained with the 2.5-m telescope of the Caucasian Mountain Observatory (CMO SAI MSU) and the 6-m BTA telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory (SAO RAS). Analysis of the velocity fields of the ionized and neutral hydrogen showed that the kinematic center of NGC 7292 located at the center of the bar, northwest of the photometric center of the galaxy (the southeastern end of the bar) previously taken as the center of NGC 7292. In addition to the circular rotation of the gas, the radial motions associated with the bar play a significant role in the kinematics of the disk. The observed perturbations of the gaseous-disk kinematics induced by the ongoing star formation do not exceed those caused by the bar. It is possible that part of the non-circular motions (at the southeastern end of the bar which is the brightest HII region) may be related to the effects of the capture of a dwarf companion or a gaseous cloud.

The star in RNO 54 -- a post-FUor with short faint jet?

The aim of the present study was the spectral analysis of an unusual pre-main-sequence star in the cometary nebula RNO 54, which was suspected by several researchers as a FUori-like object. We performed long-slit spectroscopy of the star on the 6-m telescope with the SCORPIO-2 multi-mode focal reducer. We discover a short ($\sim4$ arcsec or $\sim6000$ AU) and faint emission shock-excited jet from this star, probably oriented toward the long axis of the nebular ellipse. The spectral type of the star is estimated as G0-2 II; the split of absorption Li I line which is a typical sign indicating the FUori-like spectrum, is confirmed. The analysis of the available data shows virtual absence of the photometric variability, for at least the last 20 years. The lower limit of the bolometric luminosity of the star is estimated as 300 Lsun. Our study supports the classification of RNO 54 star as a FUor-like object in the long-after-outburst stage.

SRGe2149+6736 -- the new candidate to AM~Her type variables discovered by eROSITA telescope on "Spectrum--Roentgen--Gamma" orbital observatory

We present the results of the optical identification, classification, as well as analysis of photometric and spectral observations of the X-ray transient SRGe2149+6736 detected by the eROSITA telescope during SRG all-sky X-ray survey. Photometric observations of the optical companion of SRGe2149+6736 were carried out on 6m telescope BTA SAO RAS, 1.5m Russian-Turkish telescope RTT-150 and 2.5m telescope CMO of Moscow State University. Together with ZTF data they showed that the source is a cataclysmic variable with an orbital period $P=85\pm0.4$~min which demonstrates long-term brightness variability from $23.5$~mag (low state) to $20$~mag (high state). The high-state light curves are consistent with a model of accreting magnetic white dwarf and suggest that SRGe2149+6736 belongs to AM~Her type variables. The optical spectra obtained in the low state are consistent with a spectral energy distribution of a white dwarf with a temperature of ~24000 K.

Young Star-Forming Complexes in the Ring of the S0 galaxy NGC 4324

We present the results of our study of starforming regions in the lenticular galaxy NGC 4324. During a complex analysis of multiwavelength observational data -- the narrow-band emission-line images obtained with the 2.5-m telescope at the Caucasus Mountain Observatory of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute of the Moscow State University and the archival images in the broad bands of the SDSS, GALEX and WISE surveys -- we have detected young starforming complexes (clumps) located in the inner ring of the lenticular galaxy NGC 4324, and we have established a regular pattern of their distribution along the ring, which, nevertheless, changes with time (with age of starforming regions). We suggest several possible evolutionary paths of the lenticular galaxy NGC 4324, of which the accretion of gas-rich satellites or giant clouds (the so-called minor merging) is the most probable one.

Scanning Fabry--Perot Interferometer of the 6-m SAO RAS Telescope

The scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) - is the oldest method of optical 3D spectroscopy. It is still in use because of the high spectral resolution it provides over a large field of view. The history of the application of this method for the study of extended ob jects (nebulae and galaxies) and the technique of data reduction and analysis are discussed. The paper focuses on the performing observations with the scanning FPI on the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SAO RAS). The instrument is currently used as a part of the SCORPIO-2 multimode focal reducer. The results of studies of various galactic and extragalactic objects with the scanning FPI on the 6-m telescope - star-forming regions and young stellar objects, spiral, ring, dwarf and interacting galaxies, ionization cones of active galactic nuclei, galactic winds, etc. are briefly discussed. Further prospects for research with the scanning FPI of the SAO RAS are discussed.

Observation of a very massive galaxy cluster at z=0.76 in SRG/eROSITA all-sky survey

The results of multiwavelength observations of the very massive galaxy cluster SRGe CL2305.2-2248 detected in X-rays during the first SRG/eROSITA all-sky survey are discussed. This galaxy cluster was also detected earlier in microwave band through the observations of Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect in South Pole Telescope (SPT-CL J2305-2248), and in Atacama Cosmological Telescope (ACT-CL J2305.1-2248) surveys. Spectroscopic redshift measurement, $z=0.7573$, was measured at the Russian 6-m BTA telescope of SAO RAS, in good agreement with its photometric estimates, including a very accurate one obtained using machine learning methods. In addition, deep photometric measurements were made at the Russian-Turkish 1.5-m telescope (RTT150), which allows to study cluster galaxies red sequence and projected galaxies distribution. Joint analysis of the data from X-ray and microwave observations show that this cluster can be identified as a very massive and distant one using the measurements of its X-ray flux and integral comptonization parameter only. The mass of the cluster estimated according to the eROSITA data is $M_{500}=(9.0\pm2.6)\cdot10^{14}\, M_\odot$. We show that this cluster is found among of only several dozen of the most massive clusters in the observable Universe and among of only a few the most massive clusters of galaxies at $z>0.6$.

PV Cep and V350 Cep: stars on the way between FUors AND EXors

Based on new observations during 2015-2020 and published data, the unusual eruptive variables PV Cep and V350 Cep are examined. It is shown that PV Cep underwent a regular outburst followed by a drop in brightness that lasted overall from 2011 to 2019 and is still in a deep minimum. The outburst was accompanied by substantial changes in the intensity and profiles of a number of lines, including Ha, [SII], and [OI]. The forbidden lines generally have negative radial velocities and can be divided into four components, with variable velocities and relative intensities. V350 Cep essentially is at a maximum brightness level over the entire time and its spectrum is practically unaltered. The available data suggest that the pronounced P Cyg profile of the Ha line in the spectrum of V350 Cep appeared several years after the luminosity rise, in 1986. The luminosities of the stars in the current state are estimated to be 20 L(sun) and 3.3 L(sun), respectively. It is concluded that both stars may represent a so-called intermediate objects between the FUor and EXor classes.

Proper motions of spectrally selected structures in the HH 83 outflow

We continue our program of investigation of the proper motions of spectrally separated structures in the Herbig-Haro outflows with the aid of Fabry-Perot scanning interferometry. This work mainly focuses on the physical nature of various structures in the jets. The aim of the present study is to measure the proper motions of the previously discovered kinematically separated structures in the working surface of the HH 83 collimated outflow. We used observations from two epochs separated by 15 years, which were performed on the 6m telescope with Fabry-Perot scanning interferometer. We obtained images corresponding to different radial velocities for the two separate epochs, and used them to measure proper motions. In the course of our data analysis, we discovered a counter bow-shock of HH 83 flow with positive radial velocity, which makes this flow a relatively symmetric bipolar system. The second epoch observations confirm that the working surface of the flow is split into two structures with an exceptionally large (250 km\ s$^{-1}$) difference in radial velocity. The proper motions of these structures are almost equal, which suggests that they are physically connected. The asymmetry of the bow shock and the turning of proper motion vectors suggests a collision between the outflow and a dense cloud. The profile of the H$α$ line for the directly invisible infrared source HH 83 IRS, obtained by integration of the data within the reflection nebula, suggests it to be of P Cyg type with a broad absorption component characteristic of the FU Ori like objects. If this object underwent an FU Ori type outburst, which created the HH 83 working surfaces, its eruption took place about 1500 years ago according to the kinematical age of the outflow.

Search for gas accretion imprints in voids: II. The galaxy Ark 18 as a result of a dwarf-dwarf merger

The low-mass low-surface brightness (LSB) disc galaxy Arakelian 18 (Ark 18) resides in the Eridanus void and because of its isolation represents an ideal case to study the formation and evolution mechanisms of such a galaxy type. Its complex structure consists of an extended blue LSB disc and a bright central elliptically-shaped part hosting a massive off-centered star-forming clump. We present the in-depth study of Ark 18 based on observations with the SCORPIO-2 long-slit spectrograph and a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer at the Russian 6-m telescope complemented by archival multi-wavelength images and SDSS spectra. Ark 18 appears to be a dark matter dominated gas-rich galaxy without a radial metallicity gradient. The observed velocity field of the ionised gas is well described by two circularly rotating components moderately inclined with respect to each other and a possible warp in the outer disc. We estimated the age of young stellar population in the galaxy centre to be ~140 Myr, while the brightest star-forming clump appears to be much younger. We conclude that the LSB disc is likely the result of a dwarf-dwarf merger with a stellar mass ratio of the components at least ~5:1 that occurred earlier than 300 Myr ago. The brightest star forming clump was likely formed later by accretion of a gas cloud.

Study of Star-Forming Regions in the Peculiar Galaxies NGC 660, NGC 1512, NGC 4395, and NGC 4618

The star-forming regions (SFRs) in the peculiar galaxies NGC 660, NGC 1512, NGC 4395 and NGC 4618 are studied. The relationships between such characteristics of star forming regions as UV, nearand far-IR fluxes, as well as in the Halpha and HI lines, surface brightness in these ranges, and the scatter of the radial velocities of ionized and neutral hydrogen are considered. It is shown that in all the galaxies considered, the IR fluxes from SFRs are less than in the "normal" galaxies, but for different reasons: in the galaxies with signs of recent interaction NGC 660 and NGC 1512, this is due to the low surface brightness of SFRs; in the lopsided galaxies NGC 4395 and NGC 4618, the low brightness of SFRs in the infrared range is due to their compact size. These differences indicate that the star formation process depends not only on the morphological type of a galaxy, but also on many other factors.
