Andreev terahertz radiation generators

The electrical, magnetic and optical properties of edge channels consisting of spin circuits that contain single carriers in nanostructures of silicon, silicon carbide and cadmium fluoride are investigated. It is demonstrated that due to the presence of chains of negative-U dipole centers at the boundaries of the spin circuits, the latter are Andreev molecules for generating terahertz radiation.

Terahertz emission from silicon carbide nanostructures

For the first time, electroluminescence detected in the middle and far infrared ranges from silicon carbide nanostructures on silicon, obtained in the framework of the Hall geometry. Silicon carbide on silicon was grown by the method of substitution of atoms on silicon. The electroluminescence from the edge channels of nanostructures is induced due to the longitudinal drain-source current. The electroluminescence spectra obtained in the terahertz frequency range, 3.4, 0.12 THz, arise due to the quantum Faraday effect. Within the framework of the proposed model, the longitudinal current induces a change in the number of magnetic flux quanta in the edge channels, which leads to the appearance of a generation current in the edge channel and, accordingly, to terahertz radiation.

Registration of terahertz irradiation with silicon carbide nanostructures

The response to external terahertz (THz) irradiation from the silicon carbide nanostructures prepared by the method of substitution of atoms on silicon is investigated. The kinetic dependence of the longitudinal voltage is recorded at room temperature by varying the drain-source current in the device structure performed in a Hall geometry. In the frameworks of proposed model based on the quantum Faraday effect the incident radiation results in the appearance of a generated current in the edge channels with a change in the number of magnetic flux quanta and in the appearance of features in the kinetic dependence of the longitudinal voltage. The generation of intrinsic terahertz irradiation inside the silicon carbide nanostructures is also revealed by the electrically-detected electron paramagnetic resonance (EDEPR) measured the longitudinal voltage as a function of the magnetic field value.

Room-temperature quantum oscillations of static magnetic susceptibility of silicon-carbide epitaxial layers grown on a silicon substrate by the method of the coordinated substitution of atoms

The article presents the results of measurement and analysis of the field dependences of the static magnetic susceptibility of thin epitaxial silicon carbide films grown on the (110) surface of single-crystal silicon by the method of the coordinated substitution of atoms. In weak magnetic fields, the occurrence of two quantum effects at room temperature was experimentally found: the hysteresis of the static magnetic susceptibility and, in the field dependences, quantum Aharonov-Bohm oscillations of the static magnetic susceptibility. The simultaneous occurrence of these effects is a consequence of two- and one-particle interference of charge carriers (two-dimensional holes) on microdefects consisting of dipole centers with negative correlation energy (negative-U dipole centers).

Application of neural networks to identify trolls in social networks

In this paper we developed and tested a new algorithm of detecting in social networks users (so-called trolls) who behave in an insulting and provocative way towards other users. In order to detect trolls it is proposed to unite users in groups where all the members have a similar way of communicating. Defining the number of group and distributing the users into these groups is carried out automatically due to application of neural networks of special type - Kohonens self-organized maps. As for users characteristics according to which the distribution into groups might be done we suggest using such data as the number of comments, the average comment length and indicators determining the emotional state of the user (the frequency of encountering certain characters in comments).

Full light absorption in single arrays of spherical nanoparticles

In this paper we show that arrays of core-shell nanoparticles function as effective thin absorbers of light. In contrast to known metamaterial absorbers, the introduced absorbers are formed by single planar arrays of spherical inclusions and enable full absorption of light incident on either or both sides of the array. We demonstrate possibilities for realizing different kinds of symmetric absorbers, including resonant, ultra-broadband, angularly selective, and all-angle absorbers. The physical principle behind these designs is explained considering balanced electric and magnetic responses of unit cells. Photovoltaic devices and thermal emitters are the two most important potential applications of the proposed designs.

Equivalent Hermitian operator from supersymmetric quantum mechanics

Diagonalizable pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonians with real and discrete spectra, which are superpartners of Hermitian Hamiltonians, must be $η$-pseudo-Hermitian with Hermitian, positive-definite and non-singular $η$ operators. We show that despite the fact that an $η$ operator produced by a supersymmetric transformation, corresponding to the exact supersymmetry, is singular, it can be used to find the eigenfunctions of a Hermitian operator equivalent to the given pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian. Once the eigenfunctions of the Hermitian operator are found the operator may be reconstructed with the help of the spectral decomposition.

Measurement of tensor analyzing powers in deuteron photodisintegration

New accurate measurement of tensor analyzing powers T20, T21 and T22 in deuteron photodisintegration has been performed. Wide-aperture non-magnetic detectors allowed to cover broad kinematic ranges in a single setup: photon energy = 25 to 600 MeV, proton emission angle in CM = 24 to 48 deg. and 70 to 102 deg. New data provide a significant improvement of a few existing measurements. The angular dependency of the tensor asymmetries in deuteron photodisintegration is extracted for the first time.

Tensor analyzing powers in forward angle exclusive $π$-meson photoproduction on deuteron

The target tensor analyzing powers of the process $γd -> π^{-}pp$ had been studied in the plane wave impulse approximation, if both ejected protons are detected in coincidence and in the directions, symmetrical respect to the incoming photon momentum, being in the proton plane. The matrix elements of the studied reaction become essentially simple, if the magnitudes of the proton momenta p1 = p2 = p are equal. That proton kinematics keeps the ejected pion angle near zero, therefore the one body pion production operator does not include the spin-non-flip term. Moreover, the transition to the triplet, spatially antisymmetric final pp- state is strongly suppressed from the symmetrical deuteron S - state as well as matrix elements have a large dependence from the orientation of the deuteron spin. The values of the $T_{22}(\vec p)$ component, calculated with three realistic deuteron wave functions in the proton momentum region p >= 350 MeV/c and proton polar angle theta >= 40 deg., differ one from another noticeably.

The Reaction D(e,pp)e'pi- on Polarized Deuteron at High Proton Momenta

The differential cross section and target asymmetry components of the reaction D(e,pp)e'pi- on polarized deuteron were measured. The kinetic energies of the protons were measured within 55-180 MeV and 46-265 MeV. The polar acceptance angles in laboratory frame for the both protons are (64 - 82) degrees and the azimuthal angles are (-16 +16), (164 - 196) degrees. The sharp peak of the tensor a(20)-component of the target asymmetry is found near the invariant mass of the pppi-system M(pppi) = 2300 MeV/c**2. The performed calculations of the differential yield and the tensor target asymmetry do not describe the obtained experimental results.

Contribution of the additional neutral pion production in the reaction d(e,pp)X

Recently, we have performed the experiment on studying the pion electroproduction at photon point on the internal polarized deuterium target at the VEPP-3 storage ring. For the more complete treatment of the reaction d(e,pp)X we investigate the reaction channel with an additional neutral pion production as background to the leading reaction of the single negative pion production. To study this background process we considered the nucleon pole mechanism and the two-body mechanism. In the latter mechanism a Delta(1232) and the pion are produced in one nucleon then the pion is absorbed by other nucleon producing just one more Delta (1232). The final proton-pion systems come from the decay of the both Deltas. In this work we have estimated the contribution of the reaction with additional neutral pion production into the whole yield for the different polarization states of the deuteron in the kinematic conditions of the VEPP-3 d(e,pp)X - experiment.
