Comprehensive measurement of $η^\prime$ photoproduction off the proton at $E_γ< 2.4$ $\mathrm{GeV}$

For the spectroscopy of nucleon resonances at the total energies from the $η^\prime$-meson production threshold to $2.32$ $\mathrm{GeV}$, photon beam asymmetries of the reaction $γp \to η^\prime p$ were measured together with total and differential cross sections by analyzing the two decay modes $η^\prime \to γγ$ and $π^0 π^0 η$. New constraints for amplitude decomposition were given by the first-time result of photon beam asymmetries at $E_γ> 1.84$ $\mathrm{GeV}$ and the most precise data of differential cross sections to date at extremely backward $η^\prime$ angles. The possibility of a larger coupling constant of the $η^\prime$-nucleon system to the $N(2250)$ resonance was implied in the partial wave analyses using the present data.

Hydrogen-like symmetry in Regge spectrum of light mesons: selection of states

We discuss the $(L,n)$-classification of excited light non-strange mesons, where $L$ and $n$ are orbital and radial quantum numbers. The selection of true non-strange quark-antiquark excited states and assigning to them definite $L$ and $n$ is a notoriously confusing problem. Three guiding principles for selection of correct observed states are formulated. They are applied for construction of a new $(L,n)$-classification. This classification is consistent both with the approximate Regge form of the spectrum and with the hydrogen-like degeneracy, i.e., the dependence of mass on the sum $L+n$.

Decays of $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ resonances into $Nρ$, $Δπ$, and $Nσ$

The decays of $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ resonances into $Nρ$, $Δπ$ and $Nσ$ final states are studied in a coupled-channel analysis of data on pion- and photo-induced reactions. Improvements in the fit were observed when new resonance contributions were introduced. Frequencies for the intermediate isobars $Δ(1232)π$, $Nρ$, $Nσ$ are reported.

Polarization observables in double neutral pion photoproduction

Measurements of target asymmetries and double-polarization observables for the reaction $γp\to pπ^0π^0$ are reported. The data were taken with the CBELSA/TAPS experiment at the ELSA facility (Bonn University) using the Bonn frozen-spin butanol (C$_4$H$_9$OH) target, which provided transversely polarized protons. Linearly polarized photons were produced via bremsstrahlung off a diamond crystal. The data cover the photon energy range from $E_γ$=650 MeV to $E_γ$=2600 MeV and nearly the complete angular range. The results have been included in the BnGa partial wave analysis. Experimental results and the fit agree very well. Observed systematic differences in the branching ratios for decays of $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ resonances are attributed to the internal structure of these excited nucleon states. Resonances which can be assigned to SU(6)$\times$O(3) two-oscillator configurations show larger branching ratios to intermediate states with non-zero intrinsic orbital angular momenta than resonances assigned to one-oscillator configurations.

Partial wave analysis of reactions with four meson final states

We construct a formalism which describes the resonances decaying into four pseudoscalar meson final states. This method is fully covariant and can be directly applied for the partial-wave analysis of high statistical data. Two topologies of the process are considered: two intermediate resonances each decaying into two final mesons and cascade decay via three meson intermediate states. In particular, we consider the production of such states in the central collision reactions and in radiative $J/Ψ$ decay.

Measurement of single- and double-polarization observables in the photoproduction of $π^+π^-$~meson pairs off the proton using CLAS at Jefferson Laboratory

The photoproduction of $π^+π^-$ meson pairs off the proton has been studied in the reaction $γp\to p\,π^+π^-$ using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) and the frozen-spin target (FROST) in Hall B at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. For the first time, the beam and target asymmetries, $I^{s,c}$ and $P_{x,y}$, have been measured along with the beam-target double-polarization observables, $P^{s,c}_{x,y}$, using a transversely polarized target with center-of-mass energies ranging from 1.51 GeV up to 2.04 GeV. These data and additional $ππ$ photoproduction observables from CLAS and experiments elsewhere were included in a partial-wave analysis within the Bonn-Gatchina framework. Significant contributions from $s$-channel resonance production are observed in addition to $t$-channel exchange processes. The data indicate significant contributions from $N^\ast$ and $Δ^\ast$ resonances in the third and fourth resonance regions.

Photoproduction of two charged pions off protons in the resonance region

Photoproduction of charged pions pairs off protons is studied within the invariant masses of the final state hadrons from 1.6 to 2.4 GeV at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility with the CLAS detector. The data are included in the Bonn-Gatchina coupled-channel analysis and provide the information necessary to determine the branching fractions for most known nucleon and Delta resonances. Branching ratios are obtained here from an event based likelihood fit.

Scalar and tensor mesons in $d\bar d$, $s\bar s$ and $gg\to f_0, f_2$

LHCb data on $B^0\to\jpsi π^+π^-$, $B_{s} ^0\to\jpsi π^+π^-$ and $B_{s} ^0\to\jpsi K^+K^-$ are fitted in a coupled-channel analysis jointly with data on radiative $\jpsi$ decays, $ππ$ elastic scattering and further data sets. Branching ratios for $B_{(s)} ^0\to\jpsi f_0,f_2$ are determined and compared to branching ratios from radiative $J/ψ$ decays. Above 1500\,MeV, only little intensity is observed in $B_{(s)} ^0\to\jpsi f_0,f_2$ decays while in radiative $\jpsi$ decays the intensities peak at 1865\,MeV in the scalar, and at 2210\,MeV in the tensor wave. This pattern is interpreted as further support for the glueball interpretation of $G_0(1865)$ and $G_2(2210)$.

The Covariant Approach for the Radiative Decay of the J/Ψ Meson and Relation to Amplitudes Extracted in the Helicity Basis

We have developed the covariant approach for the partial wave analysis of the radiative decay of the vector meson into two pseudoscalar mesons based on the orbital momentum- intrinsic spin decomposition. This allowed us to include the data on the radiative J/Ψ decay into a large data base for analysis of the meson production reactions. The correspondence between partial wave amplitudes extracted in our approach and those extracted in the helicity basis is determined.

Note on the definitions of branching ratios of overlapping resonances

Branching ratios for the decay of hadrons with large width or near thresholds depend on their definition. We test different definitions and show that rather different branching ratios can be obtained. For wide resonances and for sequential decays with wide intermediate resonances, integration over the spectral functions is mandatory. The tests are performed exploiting the latest solution of the Bonn-Gatchina multi-channel analysis and published values for residues of light scalar mesons. For a resonance overlapping with a threshold, in case its pole lies in a non-adjacent sheet, we show how the total width, needed for the branching ratios, does not correspond to the imaginary part of the pole position. We use the Madrid-Krakow dispersive parameterizations to illustrate this situation with the $f_0(980)$.

Search for the tensor glueball

The tensor glueball is searched for in BESIII data on radiative $J/ψ$ decays into $π^0π^0$ and $K_sK_s$. The $ππ$ invariant mass distribution exhibits an enhancement that can be described by a pole at $(2210\pm 60) -i(180\pm 60)$\,MeV. We speculate if the tensor glueball could be distributed among high-mass tensor mesons.

Partial decay widths of baryons in the spin-momentum operator expansion method

The covariant operator expansion method used by the Bonn-Gatchina group for the analysis of the meson photoproduction data is extended on the case of meson electro-production reactions. The angular dependence of the partial waves is deduced and the obtained amplitudes are compared with those used in other analyses of the electro-production reactions

New narrow LHCb pentaquarks as lowest antiquark-diquark-diquark systems

The antiquark-diquark-diquark model describes pentaquark states both in terms of quarks and hadrons. We discuss pentaquark states with hidden charm $P(\bar c cuud)$ discovered in the $J/Ψp$ spectrum by the LHCb collaboration. We consider three pentaquark states as members of the lowest ($S$-wave) multiplet and discuss the mass splitting scheme. The latest LHCb data for pentaquarks with hidden charm provide an opportunity to make an assumption about the diquark content of the pentaquark states. We give a classification for the LHCb pentaquarks and define recombination channels for these states.

Hyperon II: Properties of excited hyperons

We report properties of $Λ$ and $Σ$ hyperon resonances formed in $K^-$ induced reactions. Special emphasis is laid on the analysis of the three-body final states $2π^0Λ$ and $2π^0Σ$ and of the quasi-two-body final states $πΛ(1520)$, $\bar KΔ(1232)$, $πΣ(1385)$, $\bar K^*N$, and $ωΛ$. We give pole positions of $Λ$ and $Σ$ hyperon resonances and transition residues from the $K^-p$ initial to various final states as well as Breit-Wigner masses and widths and decay branching ratios. Twenty resonances and "bumps" reported in the Review of Particle Physics are not required in our fits, evidence for five new resonances is reported. The observed mass spectrum is compared to the spectrum calculated in the Bonn quark model. Three spin doublets, six $Λ$ hyperons, are tentatively assigned to the SU(3) singlet system.

Hyperon I: Study of the $Λ(1405)$

Low-energy data on the three charge states in $γp \to K^+(Σπ)$ from CLAS at JLab, on $K^-p\to π^0π^0Λ$ and $π^0π^0Σ$ from the Crystal Ball at BNL, bubble chamber data on $K^-p\toπ^-π^+π^{\pm}Σ^{\mp}$, low-energy total cross sections on $K^-$ induced reactions, and data on the $K^-p$ atom are fitted with the BnGa partial-wave-analysis program. We find that the data can be fitted well with just one isoscalar spin-1/2 negative-parity pole, the $Λ(1405)$, and background contributions.

First Measurements of the Double-Polarization Observables $F$, $P$, and $H$ in $ω$ Photoproduction off Transversely Polarized Protons in the $N^\ast$ Resonance Region

First measurements of double-polarization observables in $ω$ photoproduction off the proton are presented using transverse target polarization and data from the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) FROST experiment at Jefferson Lab. The beam-target asymmetry $F$ has been measured using circularly polarized, tagged photons in the energy range 1200 - 2700 MeV, and the beam-target asymmetries $H$ and $P$ have been measured using linearly polarized tagged photons in the energy range 1200 - 2000 MeV. These measurements significantly increase the database on polarization observables. The results are included in two partial-wave analyses and reveal significant contributions from several nucleon ($N^\ast$) resonances. In particular, contributions from new $N^\ast$ resonances listed in the Review of Particle Properties are observed, which aid in reaching the goal of mapping out the nucleon resonance spectrum.

Beam-Target Helicity Asymmetry $E$ in $K^{0}Λ$ and $K^{0}Σ^0$ Photoproduction on the Neutron

We report the first measurements of the $E$ beam-target helicity asymmetry for the $\vecγ \vec{n} \to K^{0}Λ$, and $K^{0}Σ^{0}$ channels in the energy range 1.70$\leq W\leq$2.34 GeV. The CLAS system at Jefferson Lab uses a circularly polarized photon beam and a target consisting of longitudinally polarized solid molecular hydrogen deuteride with low background contamination for the measurements. The multivariate analysis method boosted decision trees was used to isolate the reactions of interest. Comparisons with predictions from the KaonMAID, SAID, and Bonn-Gatchina models are presented. These results will help separate the isospin $I=0$ and $I=1$ photo-coupling transition amplitudes in pseudoscalar meson photoproduction.

Measurement of the beam asymmetry $Σ$ and the target asymmetry $T$ in the photoproduction of $ω$ mesons off the proton using CLAS at Jefferson Laboratory

The photoproduction of $ω$ mesons off the proton has been studied in the reaction $γp\to p\,ω$ using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) and the frozen-spin target (FROST) in Hall B at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. For the first time, the target asymmetry, $T$, has been measured in photoproduction from the decay $ω\toπ^+π^-π^0$, using a transversely-polarized target with energies ranging from just above the reaction threshold up to 2.8 GeV. Significant non-zero values are observed for these asymmetries, reaching about 30-40% in the third-resonance region. New measurements for the photon-beam asymmetry, $Σ$, are also presented, which agree well with previous CLAS results and extend the world database up to 2.1 GeV. These data and additional $ω$-photoproduction observables from CLAS were included in a partial-wave analysis within the Bonn-Gatchina framework. Significant contributions from $s$-channel resonance production were found in addition to $t$-channel exchange processes.
