Plasmonic nanolaser for intracavity spectroscopy and sensorics

We demonstrate intracavity plasmonic laser spectroscopy using a plasmonic laser created from a periodically-perforated silver film with a liquid gain medium. An active zone of the laser is formed by a highly elongated spot of pumping. This results in an 80x decrease in the threshold pumping level; in a significantly more efficient diffusive mixing of dye molecules, which substantially suppresses the effect of their bleaching; and in the ability to reduce the volume of the gain medium to as little as 400 nL. We use this design for a stable plasmonic laser in multiple measurements and demonstrate that it is highly effective as a spaser spectroscopy sensor for intracavity detection of an absorptive dye at 70 ppb. This work provides an opportunity to develop applications of intracavity plasmonic laser spectroscopy in biological label detection and other fields.

Vacuum Einstein metrics with bidimensional Killing leaves. I-Local aspects

The solutions of vacuum Einstein's field equations, for the class of Riemannian metrics admitting a non Abelian bidimensional Lie algebra of Killing fields, are explicitly described. They are parametrized either by solutions of a transcendental equation (the tortoise equation), or by solutions of a linear second order differential equation in two independent variables. Metrics, corresponding to solutions of the tortoise equation, are characterized as those that admit a 3-dimensional Lie algebra of Killing fields with bidimensional leaves.

Vacuum Einstein metrics with bidimensional Killing leaves.II-Global aspects

A formalism (zeta-complex analysis), allowing one to construct global Einstein metrics by matching together local ones described in the papers Phys. Lett. B 513(2001)142-146; Diff. Geom. Appl. 16(2002)95-120, is developed. With this formalism the singularities of the obtained metrics are described naturally as well.

Jumping oscillator

It is shown that a lagrangian system whose Legendre transformation degenerates along a hypersurface behaves in a strange manner by jumping from time to time without any ''visible cause''. In such a jump the system changes instantaneously its coordinates as well as its momenta. The mathematical dscription of the phenomenon is based on the theory of impact, refraction and reflection developed by one of the authors and the observation that a hamiltonian vector field, understood as a relative one, can be associated with any lagrangian, degenerated or not. Necessary elements of the general theory of such systems are reported and a detailed description of a post-relativistic oscillator showing such a behaviour is given.

The local structure of n-Poisson and n-Jacobi manifolds

N-Lie algebra structures on smooth function algebras given by means of multi-differential operators, are studied. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the sum and the wedge product of two $n$-Poisson sructures to be again a multi-Poisson are found. It is proven that the canonical $n$-vector on the dual of an n-Lie algebra g is n-Poisson iff dim(g) are not greater than n+1. The problem of compatibility of two n-Lie algebra structures is analyzed and the compatibility relations connecting hereditary structures of a given n-Lie algebra are obtained. (n+1)-dimensional n-Lie algebras are classified and their "elementary particle-like" structure is discovered. Some simple applications to dynamics are discussed.
