LCG Monte-Carlo Data Base

We present the Monte-Carlo events Data Base (MCDB) project and its development plans. MCDB facilitates communication between authors of Monte-Carlo generators and experimental users. It also provides a convenient book-keeping and an easy access to generator level samples. The first release of MCDB is now operational for the CMS collaboration. In this paper we review the main ideas behind MCDB and discuss future plans to develop this Data Base further within the CERN LCG framework.

Impact of Tau Polarization for the determination of high \tanβand A_τ

In order to determine the fundamental MSSM parameters M_1, M_2, μand \tanβthe tau polarization from stau decays can be explored as a `bridge' between the gaugino/higgsino and the stau sector in particular in the high \tanβrange. Even in the case of high \tanβan accuracy of δ(\tanβ)\approx 5% with an simultanous determination of A_τ is possible without assuming a specific SUSY breaking scheme.

Measurement of the $HZγ$ Coupling at the Future Linear \ee Collider

We examine the prospects for measuring the $H Z γ$ coupling of a Standard Model-like Higgs boson with a mass between 120 and 160 GeV at the future TESLA linear \ee collider, assuming an integrated luminosity of 1 ab$^{-1}$ and a center-of-mass energy of 500 GeV. We consider the Higgs boson produced in association with $ν_e \bar{ν_e}$ via the $W W$ fusion reaction $e^+e^- \to ν_e \bar{ν_e} H$, followed by the rare decay into a $Z$ boson and a photon, $H \to Z γ$. Accounting for all main background contributions, different selection procedures are discussed. Uncertainties on the \hZg branching fraction of approximately 48% (27%, 44%) can be achieved in unpolarised \ee collisions for $M_H$ = 120 (140, 160) GeV. With appropriate initial state polarisations $Δ$BF(\hZg)/BF(\hZg), or the precisions on the \hZg partial width, can be improved to 29% (17%, 27%) and provide valuable information on the $HZγ$ coupling. We regard our results as a convincing confirmation of the great potential of a linear collider to access and reliably measure important parameters of the Higgs boson despite initially overwhelming background with final state signature similar to the signal events.

The MSSM Higgs bosons in the intense-coupling regime

We perform a comprehensive study of the Higgs sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model in the case where all Higgs bosons are rather light, with masses of ${\cal O}(100 GeV)$, and couple maximally to electroweak gauge bosons and strongly to standard third generation fermions, i.e. for large values of the ratio of the vacuum expectation values of the two Higgs doublet fields, $\tan β$. We first summarize the main phenomenological features of this "intense-coupling" scenario and discuss the available constraints from direct searches of Higgs bosons at LEP2 and the Tevatron as well as the indirect constraints from precision measurements such as the $ρ$ parameter, the $Zb\bar{b}$ vertex, the muon $(g-2)$ and the decay $b\to s γ$. We then analyze the decay branching fractions of the neutral Higgs particles in this regime and their production cross sections at the upcoming colliders, the Tevatron Run II, the LHC, a 500 GeV $e^+e^-$ linear collider (in the $e^+e^-$ and $γγ$ options) as well as at a $μ^+ μ^-$ collider.

Prospects for Searching for Excited Leptons during RunII of the Fermilab Tevatron

This letter presents a study of prospects of searching for excited leptons during RunII of the Fermilab Tevatron. We concentrate on single and pair production of excited electrons in the photonic decay channel in one CDF/DO detector equivalent for 2 fb^{-1}. By the end of RunIIa, the limits should be easily extended beyond those set by LEP and HERA for excited leptons with mass above about 190 GeV.
