Information-Entropic Measure of Energy-Degenerate Kinks in Two-Field Models

We investigate the existence and properties of kink-like solitons in a class of models with two interacting scalar fields. In particular, we focus on models that display both double and single-kink solutions, treatable analytically using the Bogomol'nyi--Prasad--Sommerfield bound (BPS). Such models are of interest in applications that include Skyrmions and various superstring-motivated theories. Exploring a region of parameter space where the energy for very different spatially-bound configurations is degenerate, we show that a newly-proposed momentum-space entropic measure called Configurational Entropy (CE) can distinguish between such energy-degenerate spatial profiles. This information-theoretic measure of spatial complexity provides a complementary perspective to situations where strictly energy-based arguments are inconclusive.

Multikink solutions and deformed defects

At the present work we consider an application of the deformation procedure that enable us to construct, systematically, scalar field models supporting multikinks. We introduce a new deformation function in order to realize this task. We exemplify the procedure with three different starting models already known in the literature, and the resulting deformed models have rich vacua structures which are responsible for the appearance of multikink configurations.

Asymmetrical bloch branes and the hierarchy problem

We investigate a two scalar fields split braneworld model which leads to a possible approach to the hierarchy problem within the thick brane scenario. The model exhibits a resulting asymmetric warp factor suitable for this purpose. The solution is obtained by means of the orbit equation approach for a specific value of one of the parameters. Besides, we analyze the model qualitative behaviour for arbitrary parameters by inspecting the underlying dynamical system defined by the equations which give rise to the braneworld model. We finalize commenting on the metric fluctuation and stability issues.

Analytical Multi-kinks in smooth potentials

In this work we present an approach which can be systematically used to construct nonlinear systems possessing analytical multi-kink profile configurations. In contrast with previous approaches to the problem, we are able to do it by using field potentials which are considerably smoother than the ones of Doubly Quadratic family of potentials. This is done without losing the capacity of writing exact analytical solutions. The resulting field configurations can be applied to the study of problems from condensed matter to brane world scenarios.

Localized exact solutions of $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetric nonlinear Schrödinger equation with space and time modulated nonlinearities

Using canonical transformations we obtain localized (in space) exact solutions of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) with space and time modulated nonlinearity and in the presence of an external potential depending on space and time. In particular we obtain exact solutions of NLSE in the presence of a number of non Hermitian $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetric external potentials.

Wide Localized Solitons in Systems with Time and Space-Modulated Nonlinearities

In this work we apply point canonical transformations to solve some classes of nonautonomous nonlinear Schrödinger equation namely, those which possess specific cubic and quintic - time and space dependent - nonlinearities. In this way we generalize some procedures recently published which resort to an ansatz to the wavefunction and recover a time and space independent nonlinear equation which can be solved explicitly. The method applied here allow us to find wide localized (in space) soliton solutions to the nonautonomous nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which were not presented before. We also generalize the external potential which traps the system and the nonlinearities terms.

Fermion localization on degenerate and critical branes

In this work we analyze the localization of fermions on degenerate and critical Bloch branes. This is done directly on physical coordinates, in constrast to some works that has been using conformal coordinates. We find the range of coupling constants of the interaction of fermions with the scalar fields that allow us to have normalizable fermion zero-mode localized on the brane on both, critical and degenerate Bloch branes. In the case of critical branes our results agree with those found in [Class. Quantum Grav. \textbf{27} (2010) 185001]. The results on fermion localization on degenerate Bloch branes are new. We also propose a coupling of fermions to the scalar fields which leads to localization of massless fermion on both sides of a double-brane.

Traveling solitons in Lorentz-violating systems

In this work we present a class of traveling solitons in Lorentz-violating systems. In the case of Lorentz violating scenarios, it is usual to construct static solitonic configurations. Here it is shown that it is possible to construct some traveling solitons which, as it should be expected, can not be mapped into a static configuration by means of Lorentz boosts due to its explicit breaking. Furthermore, in the model studied, a complete set of solutions is obtained. The solutions present a critical behavior controlled by the choose of an arbitrary integration constant.

A mapping function approach applied to some classes of nonlinear equations

In this work, we study some models of scalar fields in 1+1 dimensions with non-linear self-interactions. Here, we show how it is possible to extend the solutions recently reported in the literature for some classes of nonlinear equations like the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation, the generalized Camassa-Holm and the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equations. It is shown that the solutions obtained by Yomba [1], when using the so-called auxiliary equation method, can be reached by mapping them into some known nonlinear equations. This is achieved through a suitable sequence of translation and power-like transformations. Particularly, the parent-like equations used here are the ones for the $λϕ^4$ model and the Weierstrass equation. This last one, allow us to get oscillating solutions for the models under analysis. We also systematize the approach in order to show how to get a larger class of nonlinear equations which, as far as we know, were not taken into account in the literature up to now.

Fluctuating solutions for the evolution of domain walls

A class of oscillating Lorentz covariant configurations for the evolution of the domain walls in diverse dimensions are analytically obtained. It is shown that the oscillating solutions in the case of domain walls are responsible for structures which are larger than the usual kink-like configurations and, in the Lorentz covariant evolution case, lead to long-standing configurations.

Degenerate and critical domain walls and accelerating universes driven by bulk particles

We consider a scenario where our universe is taken as a three-dimensional domain wall embedded in a five-dimensional Minkowski space-time, as originally proposed by Brito and collaborators [1]. We explore the existence of a richer class of soliton solutions and their consequences for the acceleration of the universe driven by collisions of bulk particle excitations with the walls. In particular it is shown that some of these solutions should play a fundamental role throughout the expansion process.

Real spectra for non-Hermitian Dirac equation in 1+1 dimensions with a most general coupling

The most general combination of couplings of fermions with external potentials in 1+1 dimensions, must include vector, scalar and pseudoscalar potentials. We consider such a mixing of potentials in a PT-symmetric time-independent Dirac equation. The Dirac equation is mapped into an effective PT-symmetric Schrödinger equation. Despite the non-hermiticity of the effective potential, we find real energies for the fermion.

Degenerate and critical Bloch branes

In the last few years a number of works reported the appearance of thick branes with internal structure, induced by the parameter which controls the interaction between two scalar fields coupled to gravity in (4,1) dimensions in warped space-time with one extra dimension. Here we show that one can implement the control over the brane thickness without needing to change the potential parameter. On the contrary, this is going to be done by means of the variation of a parameter associated to the domain wall degeneracy. We also report the existence of novel and qualitatively different solutions for a critical value of the degeneracy parameter, which could be called critical Bloch branes.

Multiflavor Soldering

In two dimensions the simple addition of two chiral bosons of opposite chiralities does not lead to a full massless scalar field. Similarly, in three dimensions the addition of two Maxwell-Chern-Simons fields of opposite helicities $\pm 1$ will not produce a parity invariant Maxwell-Proca theory. An interference term between the opposite chiralities (helicities) states is required in order to obtain the expected result. The so called soldering procedure provides the missing interference Lagrangian in both 2D and 3D cases. In two dimensions such interference term allows to fuse two chiral fermionic determinants into a nonchiral one. In a recent work we have generalized this procedure by allowing the appearance of an extra parameter which takes two possible values and leads to two different soldered Lagrangians. Here we apply this generalized soldering in a bosonic theory which has appeared in a partial bosonization of the 3D gauged Thirring with $N$ flavors. The multiplicity of flavors allow new types of solderings and help us to understand the connection between different perturbative approaches to bosonization in 3D. In particular, we obtain an interference term which takes us from a multiflavor Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory to a pair of self-dual and anti-self-dual theories when we combine together both fermionic determinants of +1/2 and -1/2 helicity fermions. An important role is played by a set of pure non-interacting Chern-Simons fields which amount to a normalization factor in the fermionic determinants and act like spectators in the original theory but play an active role in the soldering procedure. Our results suggest that the generalized soldering could be used to provide dual theories in both 2D and 3D cases.

Restrictions over two-dimensional gauge models with Thirring-like interaction

Some years ago, it was shown how fermion self-interacting terms of the Thirring-type impact the usual structure of massless two-dimensional gauge theories [1]. In that work only the cases of pure vector and pure chiral gauge couplings have been considered and the corresponding Thirring term was also pure vector and pure chiral respectively, such that the vector (or chiral) Schwinger model should not lose its chirality structure due to the addition of the quartic interaction term. Here we extend this analysis to a generalized vector and axial coupling both for the gauge interaction and the quartic fermionic interactions. The idea is to perform quantization without losing the original structure of the gauge coupling. In order to do that we make use of an arbitrariness in the definition of the Thirring-like interaction.

Quantum propagator for some classes of three-dimensional three-body systems

In this work we solve exactly a class of three-body propagators for the most general quadratic interactions in the coordinates, for arbitrary masses and couplings. This is done both for the constant as the time-dependent couplings and masses, by using the Feynman path integral formalism. Finally the energy spectrum and the eigenfunctions are recovered from the propagators.

Two field BPS solutions for generalized Lorentz breaking models

In this work we present nonlinear models in two-dimensional space-time of two interacting scalar fields in the Lorentz and CPT violating scenarios. We discuss the soliton solutions for these models as well as the question of stability for them. This is done by generalizing a model recently published by Barreto and collaborators and also by getting new solutions for the model introduced by them.
