Revisiting Inert Doublet Model Parameters

In this study, we aim to see how much the actual measurement of the Z+photon and di-photon signal strength, $\mugaga$ and $\mugaZ$, could influence the allowed parameter space of the Inert Doublet Model (IDM), and to what extent such measurement can be aligned with the latest bound from XENON1T experiment on the spin-independent dark-matter-nucleon scattering cross-section. Also, by considering the new embedded scalars in the IDM (i.e., $H$, $A$, and $H^\pm$), a wide investigation of the one-loop radiative corrections to the trilinear Higgs coupling $hhh$ has been made in the light of the previous measurements.

Full one-loop radiative corrections to $e^+ e^-\to H^+H^-$ in the inert doublet model

We compute the full one-loop radiative corrections for charged scalar pair production $e^{+}e^{-}\to H^{+}H^{-}$ in the inert doublet model. The on-shell renormalization scheme has been used. We take into account both the weak contributions as well as the soft and hard QED corrections. We compute both the real emission and the one-loop virtual corrections using the Feynman diagrammatic method. The resummed cross section is introduced to cure the Coulomb singularity which occurs in the QED corrections. We have analyzed the parameter space of the inert doublet model in three scenarios after taking into account theoretical constraints, the collider experimental bounds, and dark matter search bounds as well. It is found that the weak interaction dominates the radiative corrections, and its size is determined by the triple Higgs coupling $λ_{h^0 H^+ H^-}$, which is further connected to the mass of the charged scalar. In the scenario where all the constraints are taken into account, we find that for $\sqrt{s}=250$ GeV and $\sqrt{s}=500$ GeV, the weak corrections are around $-6\% \sim-5\%$ and $-10\% \sim -3\%$, respectively. While for $\sqrt{s}=1000$ GeV, the weak corrections can reach $-15\% \sim +25\%$. The new feature is that the weak corrections can be positive near the threshold when the charged scalar is heavier than 470 GeV. Six benchmark points for future collider searches have been proposed.

Benchmarking Di-Higgs Production in Various Extended Higgs Sector Models

We present a comprehensive study on Higgs pair production in various archetypical extended Higgs sectors such as the real and the complex 2-Higgs-Doublet Model, the 2-Higgs-Doublet Model augmented by a real singlet field and the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. We take into account all relevant theoretical and experimental constraints, in particular the experimental limits on non-resonant and resonant Higgs pair production. We present the allowed cross sections for Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs pair production and the ranges of the SM-like Yukawa and trilinear Higgs self-coupling that are still compatible with the applied constraints. Furthermore, we give results for the pair production of a SM-like with a non-SM-like Higgs boson and for the production of a pair of non-SM-like Higgs bosons. We find that di-Higgs production in the models under investigation can exceed the SM rate substantially, not only in the non-resonance region but also due to resonant enhancement. We give several benchmarks with interesting features such as large cross sections, the possibility to test CP violation, Higgs-to-Higgs cascade decays or di-Higgs production beating single Higgs production. In all of our benchmark points, the next-to-leading order QCD corrections are included in the large top-mass limit. For these points, we found that, depending on the model and the Higgs pair final state, the corrections increase the leading order cross section by a factor of 1.79 to 2.24. We also discuss the relation between the description of Higgs pair production in an effective field theory approach and in the specific models investigated here.

New Light $H^\pm$ Discovery Channels at the LHC

A light charged Higgs boson has been searched for at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) via top (anti)quark decay, i.e., $t \to b H^+$, if kinematically allowed. In this contribution, we propose new channels for light charged Higgs boson searches via the pair productions $pp\to H^\pm h/A$ and $pp\to H^+ H^-$ at the LHC in the context of the Two-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) Type-I. By focusing on a case where the heavy H state is the Standard Model (SM)-like one already observed, we investigate the production of the aforementioned charged Higgs bosons and their bosonic decay channels, namely, $H^\pm \to W^\pm h$ and/or $H^\pm \to W^\pm A$. We demonstrate that such production and decay channels can yield substantial alternative discovery channels for $H^\pm$ bosons at the LHC. Finally, we propose eight benchmark points (BPs) to motivate the search for such signatures.

One-loop radiative corrections to $e^+ e^-\to Zh^0/H^0A^0$ in the Inert Higgs Doublet Model

We compute the full one-loop radiative corrections (including both weak and QED corrections) for two processes $e^{+}e^{-}\to Z h^0,H^0 A^{0}$ in the Inert Higgs Doublet model (IHDM). Up to $O(α_{w})$ and $O(α_{em})$ order, we use FeynArts/FormCalc to compute the one-loop virtual corrections and Feynman Diagram Calculation (FDC) to evaluate the real emission, respectively. Being equipped with these computing tools, we investigate radiative corrections of new physics for both the degenerate and non-degenerate scenarios with three typical collision energies of future electron-positron colliders: 250 GeV, 500 GeV, and 1000GeV. By scanning the parameter space of IHDM, we identify the allowed regions which are consistent with constraints and bounds, from both theoretical and experimental sides. We find that the radiative corrections of the IHDM to $e^+ e^- \to Z h^0$ can be sizeable and are within the detection potentials of future Higgs factories. We also find that the new physics of IHDM could also be directly detected by observing the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to H^0 A^{0} $ which could have large enough production rate. We propose five benchmark points and examine their salient features which can serve as physics targets for future electron-positron colliders, such as CEPC/CLIC/FCC-ee/ILC as well as for LHC.

Same-sign Charged Higgs Pair Production in bosonic decay channels at the HL-LHC and HE-LHC

Same-sign charged Higgs pair production via vector-boson scattering is a useful probe of the mass spectrum among the heavier scalar, pseudoscalar, and charged Higgs bosons in two-Higgs-doublet models. It has been shown that the production cross section scales as the square of the mass difference $Δm = (m_{H^0} - m_{A^0})$ in the alignment limit $(\cos(β- α)=0)$. We study the potential measurement of this same-sign charged Higgs pair production at the high-luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) and the proposed 27 TeV $pp$ collider, with emphasis in the decay channel $H^\pm H^\pm \to (W^\pm A^0 ) (W^\pm A^0)$, which is in general the dominant mode when the charged Higgs mass is above the $W^\pm A^0$ threshold. We also examine the current allowed parameter space taking into account the theoretical constraints on the model, the electroweak precision measurements, $B$ decays, and direct searches in the $H^\pm \to τ^\pm ν_τ$ and $H^\pm \to W ^\pm A^0 \to (\ell^\pmν_{\ell} ) (μμ)$.

Signal versus Background Interference in $H^+\to t\bar b$ Signals for MSSM Benchmark Scenarios

In this paper, we investigate sizeable interference effects between a heavy charged Higgs boson signal produced via $gg\to t\bar b H^-$ (+ c.c.) followed by the decay $H^-\to b\bar t$ (+ c.c.) and the irreducible background given by $gg\to t\bar t b \bar b$ topologies at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We show how such effects could spoil current $H^\pm$ searches where signal and background are normally treated separately. The reason for this is that a heavy charged Higgs boson can have a large total width, in turn enabling such interferences, altogether leading to very significant alterations, both at the inclusive and exclusive level, of the yield induced by the signal alone. This therefore implies that currently established LHC searches for such wide charged Higgs bosons require modifications. We show such effects quantitatively using two different benchmark configurations of the minimal realisation of Supersymmetry, wherein such $H^\pm$ states naturally exist.

Implications of light charged Higgs boson at the LHC Run III in the 2HDM

In this study, we focus on the bosonic decays of light charged Higgs boson (i.e., with $M_{H^\pm}<m_t$) in the 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) Type-I. To study the signal of such a charged Higgs state at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), in a scenario where the $H^0$ boson is the Standard Model (SM)-like one already discovered, we assume that it decays mainly via $h^0W^{\pm *}$ and/or $H^\pm\to A^0W^{\pm *}$ (i.e., via an off-shell $W^{\pm}$ boson), which can reach a sizable Branching Ratio (BR) for $\tanβ\geq4$, when the exclusion bounds from $H^\pm\toτν$ and $c{s}$ searches get weaker. By using six Benchmark Points (BPs), which are consistent with current LHC constraints, we perform a Monte Carlo (MC) study and examine the sensitivity of the LHC to light charged Higgs boson decaying via the above bosonic modes and produced in top decay following both single top and top pair production processes. Our findings demonstrate that, when the integrated luminosity can reach 100 fb$^{-1}$, the LHC has the potential to either discover or rule out most of these BPs via either of these two production and decay channels or both.

A Guidebook to Hunting Charged Higgs Bosons at the LHC

We perform a comprehensive global analysis in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) as well as in the 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) of the production and decay mechanisms of charged Higgs bosons $(H^\pm)$ at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Starting from the most recent experimental results (SM-like Higgs boson signal strengths and search limits for new Higgs boson states obtained at Run-1 and -2 of the LHC and previous colliders), from (both direct and indirect) searches for Supersymmetric particles as well as from flavor observables (from both $e^+e^-$ factories and hadron colliders) and upon enforcing theoretical constraints (vacuum stability, perturbativity, unitarity), we present precise predictions for $H^\pm$ cross sections and decay rates in different reference scenarios of the two aforementioned models in terms of the parameter space currently available, specifically mapped over the customary $(m_{A,H^\pm}, \tanβ)$ planes, including singling out specific Benchmark Points (BPs) amenable to phenomenological investigation. These include the $m_{h}^{{\rm mo}d+}$ and hMSSM configurations of the MSSM and the 2HDM Type-I, -II, -X and -Y. Such BPs are always close to (or coinciding with) the best fits of the theoretical scenarios to experimental data. We also briefly discuss the ensuing phenomenology for the purpose of aiding future searches for such charged Higgs boson states.

Scattering Interference effects on $H^+\to t\bar b$ Signals in MSSM Benchmark Scenarios

In this talk an investigation into the interference effects between the process $pp\to \bar{t}bH^+$ followed by the decay $H^+ \to t\bar{b}$ and the background process $pp \to t\bar{t}b\bar{b}$ is presented. The level of interference in parts of the parameter space is shown to be high and as such it may spoil the results of typical analyses which treat signal and background as independent. This is shown for two benchmarks of the MSSM.

$tbW$ Anomalous Couplings in the Two Higgs Doublet Model

We make a complete one loop calculation of the $tbW$ couplings in the Two Higgs Doublet Model. We evaluate both the anomalous couplings $g_L$ and $g_R$ as well as left handed and right handed component of $tbW$. The computation is done in the Feynman gauge using the on-shell scheme renormalization for the Standard Model wave functions and parameters. We first show that the relative corrections to these anomalous couplings are rather small in most regions of the parameter space. We then analyze the effects of these anomalous couplings on certain observables such as top quark polarization in single top production through $t-$channel as well as $W^\pm$ boson helicity fractions in top decay.

Mono-Higgs Signature in the Scotogenic Model with Majorana Dark Matter

We study the phenomenology of scotogenic model in the case of Majorana Dark Matter (DM) candidate. This scenario gives important consequences since the parameter space of the model is almost unconstrained compared to the Inert Higgs Doublet Model (or the scotogenic model with scalar DM), and hence, offers new opportunities for discovery at future high energy collider, e.g. the HL-LHC. As an example, we focus on the production of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson in association with a pair of dark scalars. Owing to its clean signature, the $γγ$ decay channel of the SM Higgs boson is investigated in great detail at both the HL-LHC (at $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV) and the future FCC-hh (at $\sqrt{s}=100$ TeV). After revisiting the LHC constraints from run-II on the parameter space of the model, and selecting benchmark points satisfying all the theoretical and experimental constraints, we found that scalars with mass up to $140$ GeV ($160$ GeV) can be probed at the LHC (FCC-hh) with a $3$ ab$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity assuming $5\%$ of uncertainty.

Explaining Dijet Mass Excesses in ALEPH LEP2 Four-Jet Events with 2HDMs

In this paper, we address the observability of four-jet signatures from light neutral and charged Higgs bosons at LEP2 energies in the framework of 2-Higgs Doublet Models (2HDMs). The main signal production channels are via $e^+ e^- \to Ah$ and $H^+ H^-$ with subsequent quark decays of such final states into four-jets. Specifically, Type-I and -III realizations of a generic 2HDM (2HDM-I and -III, respectively) are adopted to show that there exist points (under the assumption that the heavy Higgs state $H$ is SM-like) for which $(m_h, m_A, m_{H^\pm}) \approx (80, 30, 55)$ GeV that can yield observable rates at LEP2 energies that can potentially explain the di-jet mass excesses seen recently in ALEPH data in a re-analysis of their four-jet samples, particularly so for the 2HDM-III.

Searching for Heavy Charged Higgs Bosons through Top Quark Polarization

We study the production of a heavy charged Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in $gb\to H^{-} t$ within a Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM). The chiral structure of the $H^{-} t \bar{b}$ coupling can trigger a particular spin state of the top quark produced in the decay of a charged Higgs boson and, therefore, is sensitive to the underlying mechanism of the Electro-Weak Symmetry Breaking (EWSB). Taking two benchmark models (2HDM type-I and 2HDM type-Y) as an example, we show that inclusive rates, differential distributions as well as forward-backward asymmetries of the top quark's decay products can be used to search for heavy charged Higgs bosons as well as a model discriminators.

Theory and Phenomenology of Two Higgs Doublet Type-II Seesaw Model at the LHC Run-2

We study the most popular scalar extension of the Standard Model, namely the Two Higgs doublet model, extended by a complex triplet scalar (2HDMcT). Such considering model with a very small vacuum expectation value, provides a solution to the massive neutrinos through the so-called type II seesaw mechanism. We show that the 2HDMcT enlarged parameter space allow for a rich and interesting phenomenology compatible with current experimental constraints. In this paper the 2HDMcT is subject to a detailed scrutiny. Indeed, a complete set of tree level unitarity constraints on the coupling parameters of the potential is determined, and the exact tree-level boundedness from below constraints on these couplings are generated for all directions. We then perform an extensive parameter scan in the 2HDMcT parameter space, delimited by the above derived theoretical constraints as well as by experimental limits. We find that an important triplet admixtures are still compatible with the Higgs data and investigate which observables will allow to restrict the triplet nature most effectively in the next runs of the LHC. Finally, we emphasize new production and decay channels and their phenomenological relevance and treatment at the LHC.

Pseudoscalar decays to gauge bosons at the LHC and at a future 100 TeV collider

We discuss the search for a CP-odd scalar decaying into gauge bosons in the framework of a CP-conserving two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM) and of a 2HDM extended with a vector-like quark (VLQ) at the Large Hadron Collider and at a future 100 TeV collider. The rate of decay of a pseudoscalar to $Z$-bosons could be important to ascertain the CP-nature of the scalars in the model. In the 2HDM $A \to ZZ$ will be extremely hard to detect even at a future 100 TeV $pp$ collider while in the 2HDM+VLQ this decay can be probed even during the present LHC run. We further discuss all decays of the pseudoscalar into gauge bosons at the LHC and at a future 100 TeV collider in the alignment limit where the lightest scalar is the 125 GeV Higgs with SM-like couplings to the fermions and gauge bosons.

Consistency of a gauged two-Higgs-doublet model: Scalar sector

We study the theoretical and phenomenological constraints imposed on the scalar sector of the gauged two Higgs doublet model proposed recently as a variant of the popular inert Higgs doublet model of dark matter. The requirements of tree-level vacuum stability and perturbative unitarity in the scalar sector are analyzed in detail. Furthermore, taking into account the constraints from the 125 GeV Higgs boson measurements at the Large Hadron Collider, we map out the allowed ranges for the fundamental parameters of the scalar potential in the model.

Top quark polarization as a probe of charged Higgs bosons

We study the production and decay of a heavy charged Higgs boson in the $bg\to tH^-$ and $H^-\to b\bar t$ processes at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We show that the chiral structure of the $H^-t\bar b$ vertex entering both stages is sensitive to the underlying Higgs mechanism of Electro-Weak Symmetry Breaking (EWSB) and we specifically demonstrate that one could distinguish between two popular realizations of a 2-Higgs Double Model (2HDM) embedding a new $H^\pm$ state, i.e., those with Type-I and -Y Yukawa couplings. The chiral structure of such a vertex, which is different in the two cases, in turn triggers a particular spin state of the top quark which is then transmitted to its decay products. Hence, both inclusive rates and exclusive observables can be used to extract the presence of such a charged Higgs boson state in LHC data.
