Doctors and Nurses Social Media Ads Reduced Holiday Travel and COVID-19 infections: A cluster randomized controlled trial in 13 States

During the COVID-19 epidemic, many health professionals started using mass communication on social media to relay critical information and persuade individuals to adopt preventative health behaviors. Our group of clinicians and nurses developed and recorded short video messages to encourage viewers to stay home for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. We then conducted a two-stage clustered randomized controlled trial in 820 counties (covering 13 States) in the United States of a large-scale Facebook ad campaign disseminating these messages. In the first level of randomization, we randomly divided the counties into two groups: high intensity and low intensity. In the second level, we randomly assigned zip codes to either treatment or control such that 75% of zip codes in high intensity counties received the treatment, while 25% of zip codes in low intensity counties received the treatment. In each treated zip code, we sent the ad to as many Facebook subscribers as possible (11,954,109 users received at least one ad at Thanksgiving and 23,302,290 users received at least one ad at Christmas). The first primary outcome was aggregate holiday travel, measured using mobile phone location data, available at the county level: we find that average distance travelled in high-intensity counties decreased by -0.993 percentage points (95% CI -1.616, -0.371, p-value 0.002) the three days before each holiday. The second primary outcome was COVID-19 infection at the zip-code level: COVID-19 infections recorded in the two-week period starting five days post-holiday declined by 3.5 percent (adjusted 95% CI [-6.2 percent, -0.7 percent], p-value 0.013) in intervention zip codes compared to control zip codes.

On transcendental meromorphic solutions of certain types of differential equations

In this paper, for a transcendental meromorphic function $f$ and $a\in \mathbb{C}$, we have exhaustively studied the nature and form of solutions of a new type of non-linear differential equation of the following form which has never been investigated earlier: \beas f^n+af^{n-2}f'+ P_d(z,f) = \sum_{i=1}^{k}p_i(z)e^{α_i(z)},\eeas where $P_d(z,f)$ is differential polynomial of $f$, $p_i$'s and $α_{i}$'s are non-vanishing rational functions and non-constant polynomials respectively. When $a=0$, we have pointed out a major lacuna in a recent result of Xue [Math. Slovaca, 70(1)(2020), 87-94] and rectifying the result, presented the corrected form of the same at a large extent. The case $a\neq 0$ has also been manipulated to determine the form of the solutions. We also illustrate a handful number of examples for showing the accuracy of our results.

On the transcendental solutions of Fermat type delay-differential and c-shift equations with some analogous results

In this paper, we mainly investigate on the finite order transcendental entire solutions of two Fermat types delay-differential and one Fermat type c-shift equations, as these types were not considered earlier. Our results improve those of [13] in some sense. In addition, we also extend some recent results obtained in [18]. A handful number of examples have been provided by us to justify our certain assertion as and when required.

Uniqueness of $L$ function with special class of meromorphic function under restricted sharing of sets

The purpose of the paper is to rectify a series of errors occurred in [2], [17], [20] for a particular situation. To get a fruitful solution and to overcome the issue, we introduce a new form of set sharing namely restricted set sharing, which is stronger than the usual one. We manipulate the newly introduced notion in this specific section of literature to resolve all the complications. Not only that we have subtly used the same sharing form to a well known unique range set [3] to settle a long time unsolved problem.

Two and three shared sets uniqueness problem on restricted and unrestricted ordered meromorphic functions

In this paper we have mainly focused on the uniqueness of two meromorphic functions under the realm of two shared sets problem with certain restrictions which in turn improve the results of { P. Sahoo and H. Karmakar, Uniqueness theorems related to weighted sharing of two sets, Acta Univ. Sapientiae, Mathematica, 10(2) (2018), 329-339} and {P. Sahoo and A. Sarkar, On the uniqueness of meromorphic functions sharing two sets, Bol. Soc. Mat. Mex., (2019), 1-7}. In particular, pointing out some gaps in the statements of the results in { P. Soc. Mat. Mex., (2019), 1-7}. we have removed the order restrictions on the main results in { P. Soc. Mat. Mex., (2019), 1-7} at the cost of sharing of an additional singleton. A number of examples have been provided by us to show some conditions in our results are essential.

Uniqueness and two shared set problems of L-Function and certain class of meromorphic function

Starting with a question of Yuan-Li-Yi [Value distribution of L-functions and uniqueness questions of F. Gross, Lithuanian Math. J., 58(2)(2018), 249-262] we have studied the uniqueness of a meromorphic function f and an L-function L sharing two finite sets. At the time of execution of our work, we have pointed out a serious lacuna in the proof of a recent result of a of Sahoo-Halder [ Some results on L-functions related to sharing two finite sets, Comput. Methods Funct. Theo., 19(2019), 601-612] which makes most of the part of the Sahoo-Halder's paper under question. In context of our choice of sets, we have rectified Sahoo-Halder's result in a convenient manner.

Uniqueness of certain differential polynomial of L-functions and meromorphic functions sharing a polynomial

The purpose of this paper is to obtain some sufficient conditions to determine the relation between a meromorphic function and an L-function when certain differential polynomial generated by them sharing a one degree polynomial. The main theorem of the paper extends and improves all the results in {W. J. Hao and J. F. Chen, Uniqueness of L-functions concerning certain differential polynomials, Discrete Dyn. Nat. Soc., 2018, DOI. 10.1155/2018/4673165}, {F. Liu, X. M. Li and H. X. Yi, Value distribution of L-functions concerning shared values and certain differential polynomials, Proc. Japan. Acad. Ser. A, 93 (2017), 41-46} and {P. Sahoo and S. Haldar, Uniqueness results related to L-functions and certain differential polynomials, Tbilisi Math. J., 11(4) (2018), 67-78}.

Weighted sharing and uniqueness of L-Function with certain class of meromorphic function

The purpose of the paper is to study the uniqueness problem of a $L$ function in the Selberg class sharing one or two sets with an arbitrary meromorphic function having finite poles. We manipulate the notion of weighted sharing of sets to improve one result of Yuan-Li-Yi [Value distribution of $L$-functions and uniqueness questions of F. Gross, Lithuanian Math. J., $\mathbf{58(2)}$(2018), 249-262]. More importantly, we have pointed out a number of gaps in all the results of Sahoo-Halder [Results on $L$ functions and certain uniqueness question of Gross, Lithuanian Math. J., $\mathbf{60(1)}$(2020), 80-91] which actually makes the validity of the same paper under question. As an attempt to rectify the results of Sahoo-Halder we have presented the accurate forms and proof of the results in a compact and convenient manner.

A Note On Uniqueness Of Meromorphic Functions And Their Derivatives Sharing Two Sets

In this paper, on the basis of a specific question raised in [6], we further continue our investigations on the uniqueness of a meromorphic function with its higher derivatives sharing two sets and answer the question affirmatively. Moreover, we exhibit some examples to show the sharpness of some conditions used in our main result.

Using Gossips to Spread Information: Theory and Evidence from a Randomized Controlled Trial

Is it possible to identify individuals who are highly central in a community without gathering any network information, simply by asking a few people? If we use people's nominees as seeds for a diffusion process, will it be successful? We explore these questions theoretically, via surveys, and via field experiments. We show via a model of information flow how members of a community can, just by tracking gossip about others, identify highly central individuals in their network. Asking villagers in rural Indian villages to name good seeds for diffusion, we find that they accurately nominate those who are central according to a measure tailored for diffusion - not just those with many friends or in powerful positions. Finally, we run a randomized field experiment in 213 other villages that tests how effective it is to use such nominations as seeds for a diffusion process. Relative to random seeds or those with high social status, hitting at least one seed nominated by villagers leads to more than a 65% increase in the spread of information.

Bicomplex Hamiltonian systems in Quantum Mechanics

We investigate bicomplex Hamiltonian systems in the framework of an analogous version of the Schrodinger equation. Since in such a setting three different types of conjugates of bicomplex numbers appear, each is found to define in a natural way, a separate class of time reversal operator. However, the induced parity (P)-time (T)-symmetric models turn out to be mutually incompatible except for two of them which could be chosen uniquely. The latter models are then explored by working within an extended phase space. Applications to the problems of harmonic oscillator, inverted oscillator and isotonic oscillator are considered and many new interesting properties are uncovered for the new types of PT symmetries.

Inverse Laplace Transform for Bi-Complex Variables

In this paper we examine the existence of bicomplexied inverse Laplacetransform as an extension of its complexied inverse version within theregion of convergence of bicomplex Laplace transform. In this course weuse the idempotent representation of bicomplex-valued functions as pro-jections on the auxiliary complex spaces of the components of bicomplexnumbers along two orthogonal, idempotent hyperbolic directions.
