Feasibilism, Explication, and the Cobham-Edmonds Thesis

While the Church-Turing thesis asserts that effective calculability explicates to sets decidable by a Turing machine, the Cobham-Edmonds thesis asserts that feasible computation explicates to the complexity class $\mathsf{P}$, those decidable by a polynomial-time bounded Turing machine. The Church-Turing thesis has been placed under rigorous scrutiny and has several convincing arguments in its favor, but the Cobham-Edmonds thesis has not undergone a similar examination. Many of the arguments in its favor simply suggest that $\mathsf{P}$ is a useful assumption, rather than a necessary target. This paper presents analogous arguments in favor of the Cobham-Edmonds thesis.

The Ethereum Scratch Off Puzzle

Ethereum represents new innovation in the fields of cryptocurrency which has become relatively stagnate, promising many things, including an entire programming language and development enviroment built into the network. However the current trend is to write implementations and proof of concepts before doing the rigor involved with proving security. Miller's recent thesis is an attempt to remedy this, and we apply his provable security techniques to the algorithm description of CASPER, the new "proof-of-stake" consensus protocol scheme to be implemented in ethereum. We conclude by stating it satisfies almost all the definitions, except one, leaving room for improvement.

Hypothetical Problems concerning the Theory of Relativity on Cryptographic Currency Implementations

Bitcoin has demonstrated there are many security improvements applicable to normal currency. As the human race expands and we colonize other planets, we have to consider how we are going to extend integral parts of of society, and that includes our currency system. Information transferring does not scale well with very large distances, entirely due to physical limitations. For example, there is a maximum speed that any information can travel, and it cannot be faster than the speed of light. In this paper we take these physical limitations into account to give treatment to the following question. Can a single crypto-currency be used across the entire universe? Trivially many currencies can be used with exchange rates but we will try to avoid this as our solution. The idea of this paper was inspired by a paper titled "The Theory of Interstellar Trade" by Paul Krugman, a Nobel Economist.

Exploring mod2 n-queens games

We introduce a two player game on an n x n chessboard where queens are placed by alternating turns on a chessboard square whose availability is determined by the number of queens already on the board which can attack that square modulo two. The game is explored along with some variations and its complexity.
