Real Space Renormalization Group for Langevin Dynamics in Absence of Translational Invariance

A novel exact dynamical real space renormalization group for a Langevin equation derivable from a Euclidean Gaussian action is presented. It is demonstrated rigorously that an algebraic temporal law holds for the Green function on arbitrary structures of infinite extent. In the case of fractals it is shown on specific examples that two different fixed points are found at variance with periodic structures. Connection with growth dynamics of interfaces is also discussed.

Exact clesed form of the return probability on the Bethe lattice

An exact closed form solution for the return probability of a random walk on the Bethe lattice is given. The long-time asymptotic form confirms a previously known expression. It is however shown that this exact result reduces to the proper expression when the Bethe lattice degenerates on a line, unlike the asymptotic result which is singular. This is shown to be an artefact of the asymptotic expansion. The density of states is also calculated.

Eigenspectrum and Localization for Diffusion with Traps

We investigate the {\em survival-return} probability distribution and the eigenspectrum for the transition probability matrix, for diffusion in the presence of perfectly absorbing traps distributed with critical disorder in two and three dimensions. The density of states is found to have a Lifshitz tail in the low frequency limit, consistent with a recent investigation of the long time behavior of the {\em survival} probability. The localization properties of the eigenstates are found to be very different from diffusion with no traps.

A New Finite-Size Scaling Approach to Random Walks

We present a new finite-size scaling method for the random walks (RW) superseeding a previously widely used renormalization group approach, which is shown here to be inconsistent. The method is valid in any dimension and is based on the exact solution for the two-point correlation function and on finite size scaling. As an application, the phase diagram is derived for random walks with a surface-bulk interaction where the system has either a surface or a defect. Possible extensions to disordered systems are also discussed.

Weak Non Self-Averaging Behaviour for Diffusion in a Trapping Environment

The statistics of equally weighted random paths (ideal polymer) is studied in $2$ and $3$ dimensional percolating clusters. This is equivalent to diffusion in the presence of a trapping environment. The number of $N$ step walks follows a log-normal distribution with a variance growing asymptotically faster than the mean which leads to a weak non self-averaging behaviour. Critical exponents associated with the scaling of the two-points correlation function do not obey standard scaling laws.
