PiMiX 2.0: AI-enhanced Data Fusion for Radiographic Imaging and Tomography

Extending earlier work in Physics-informed Meta-instrument for eXperiments (PiMiX) [1], PiMiX~2.0 is an artificial-intelligence (AI)-enhanced data-fusion and analysis framework that integrates multi-experiment multi-modal radiographic imaging and tomography (RadIT) with physics-informed reasoning and agentic AI workflows. The framework supports automated data ingestion, multimodal image processing from one or more experiments, three-dimensional (3D) and time-resolved three-dimensional (4D) reconstruction, and physics-aware interpretation of experimental observations. The PiMiX agents are designed for deployment on desktop and laptop systems commonly used in experimental workflows, while remaining scalable to high-performance computing environments for computationally intensive tasks. By coupling RadIT instrumentation and measurements with geometry, physics, computation, and statistical inference, PiMiX 2.0 aims to accelerate RadIT data processing, knowledge extraction, improve reproducibility, and enable more integrated analysis and workflows in high-temperature plasmas, nuclear fusion, advanced manufacturing, other static and dynamic experiments.

Expanding Ricci solitons and Higgs bundles

Motivated by the long-time behavior of Ricci flows that collapse with bounded curvature, we study expanding Ricci solitons with nilpotent symmetry on vector bundles over a closed manifold. We prove that, under mild assumptions that are satisfied by Ricci flow limits, the equations dimension-reduce to the so-called twisted harmonic-Einstein equations. When the base is a surface, we establish a correspondence between solutions of the latter and a class of G-Higgs bundles. This allows us to produce infinite families of new examples that are not locally homogeneous, and in particular to obtain a complete description in dimension 4. We also show that all our examples admit Einstein one-dimensional extensions.

Inhomogeneous deformations of Einstein solvmanifolds

For each non-flat, unimodular Ricci soliton solvmanifold $(\mathsf{S}_0,g_0)$, we construct a one-parameter family of complete, expanding, gradient Ricci solitons that admit a cohomogeneity one isometric action by $\mathsf{S}_0$. The orbits of this action are hypersurfaces homothetic to $(\mathsf{S}_0,g_0)$. These metrics are asymptotic at one end to an Einstein solvmanifold. In the one-parameter family, exactly one metric is Einstein, and exactly one has orbits that are isometric to $(\mathsf{S}_0,g_0)$.

Bach Flow of Simply Connected Nilmanifolds

The Bach flow is a fourth order geometric flow defined on four manifolds. For a compact manifold, it is a conformally modified gradient flow for the $L^2$-norm of the Weyl curvature. In this paper we study the Bach flow on four-dimensional simply connected nilmanifolds whose Lie algebra is indecomposable. We show that the Bach flow beginning at an arbitrary left invariant metric exists for all positive times and after rescaling converges in the pointed Cheeger-Gromov sense to an expanding Bach soliton which is non-gradient. Combining our results with previous results of Helliwell gives a complete description of the Bach flow on simply connected nilmanifolds.

HST-Scale 3D simulations of MHD disc winds : A rotating two-component jet structure

We present the results of large scale, three-dimensional magneto-hydrodynamics simulations of disc-winds for different initial magnetic field configurations. The jets are followed from the source to 90 AU scale, which covers several pixels of HST images of nearby protostellar jets. Our simulations show that jets are heated along their length by many shocks. We compute the emission lines that are produced, and find excellent agreement with observations. The jet width is found to be between 20 and 30 AU while the maximum velocities perpendicular to the jet is found to be up to above 100 km/s. The initially less open magnetic field configuration simulations results in a wider, two-component jet; a cylindrically shaped outer jet surrounding a narrow and much faster, inner jet. These simulations preserve the underlying Keplerian rotation profile of the inner jet to large distances from the source. However, for the initially most open magnetic field configuration the kink mode creates a narrow corkscrew-like jet without a clear Keplerian rotation profile and even regions where we observe rotation opposite to the disc (counter-rotating). The RW Aur jet is narrow, indicating that the disc field in that case is very open meaning the jet can contain a counter-rotating component that we suggests explains why observations of rotation in this jet has given confusing results. Thus magnetized disc winds from underlying Keplerian discs can develop rotation profiles far down the jet that are not Keplerian.
