Quantum Relative-alpha-Entropies: A Structural and Geometric Perspective

Most quantum divergences derive their structure from classical f-divergences or Renyi-type constructions, a dependence that obscures several quantum geometric effects. We introduce a quantum relative-alpha-entropy that extends Umegaki's relative entropy while falling outside the f-divergence class. The proposed divergence exhibits a nonlinear convexity property, which yields a generalized convexity result for the Petz-Renyi divergence for alpha greater than one, complementing the known convexity for alpha less than one. It is additive under tensor products, invariant under unitary transformations, and depends only on the relative geometry of quantum states rather than their absolute magnitudes. Using Nussbaum-Szkola-type distributions, we also establish an exact correspondence of this divergence with classical relative-alpha-entropy. This reveals relative-alpha-entropy as a fundamentally geometric notion of quantum distinguishability not captured by existing divergence frameworks.

Block Adaptive Progressive Type-II Censored Sampling for the Inverted Exponentiated Pareto Distribution: Parameter Inference and Reliability Assessment

This article explores the estimation of unknown parameters and reliability characteristics under the assumption that the lifetimes of the testing units follow an Inverted Exponentiated Pareto (IEP) distribution. Here, both point and interval estimates are calculated by employing the classical maximum likelihood and a pivotal estimation methods. Also, existence and uniqueness of the maximum likelihood estimates are verified. Further, asymptotic confidence intervals are derived by using the asymptotic normality property of the maximum likelihood estimator. Moreover, generalized confidence intervals are obtained by utilizing the pivotal quantities. Additionally, some mathematical developments of the IEP distribution are discussed based on the concept of order statistics. Furthermore, all the estimations are performed on the basis of the block censoring procedure, where an adaptive progressive Type-II censoring is employed to every block. In this regard, the performances of two estimation methods, namely maximum likelihood estimation and pivotal estimation, is evaluated and compared through a simulation study. Finally, a real data is illustrated to demonstrate the flexibility of the proposed IEP model.

An Undeniable Signature Scheme Utilizing Module Lattices

An undeniable signature scheme is type of digital signature where the signer retains control over the signature's verifiability. Therefore with the approval of the signer, only an authenticated verifier can verify the signature. In this work, we develop a module lattice-based post-quantum undeniable signature system. Our method is based on the GPV framework utilizing module lattices, with the security assured by the hardness of the SIS and LWE problems. We have thoroughly proved all the desired securities for the proposed scheme. Finally, we have implemented our protocol for different sets of parameters. The purpose of opting a module variant rather than a ring variant is to provide greater flexibility in selecting parameters.

Lattice attack on group ring NTRU: The case of the dihedral group

Group ring NTRU (GR-NTRU) provides a general structure to design different variants of NTRU-like schemes by employing different groups. Although, most of the schemes in literature are built over cyclic groups, nonabelian groups can also be used. Coppersmith and Shamir in 1997 have suggested that noncommutativity may result in better security against some lattice attacks for some groups. Lattice attacks on the public key of NTRU-like cryptosystems try to retrieve the private key by solving the shortest vector problem (SVP) or its approximation in a lattice of a certain dimension, assuming the knowledge of the public key only. This paper shows that dihedral groups do not guarantee better security against this class of attacks. We prove that retrieving the private key is possible by solving the SVP in two lattices with half the dimension of the original lattice generated for GR-NTRU based on dihedral groups. The possibility of such an attack was mentioned by Yasuda et al.(IACR/2015/1170). In contrast to their proposed approach, we explicitly provide the lattice reduction without any structure theorem from the representation theory for finite groups. Furthermore, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique with experimental results.

Rayleigh quotients of Dillon's functions

The Walsh--Hadamard spectrum of a bent function uniquely determines a dual function. The dual of a bent function is also bent. A bent function that is equal to its dual is called a self-dual function. The Hamming distance between a bent function and its dual is related to its Rayleigh quotient. Carlet, Danielsen, Parker, and Sole studied Rayleigh quotients of bent functions in ${\mathcal PS}_{ap}$, and obtained an expression in terms of a character sum. We use another approach comprising of Desarguesian spreads to obtain the complete spectrum of Rayleigh quotients of bent functions in $\mathcal{PS}_{ap}$.
