Exactness property of Breuil-Kisin functors and Bloch-Kato Selmer groups

Let $K$ be a $p$-adic field and $T$ a lattice in a semistable representation of $\mathrm{Gal}(\overline{K}/K)$ with Hodge-Tate weights in $[0, r]$. Assuming $0\leq r<p-1$, we prove that for a semistable extension of $\mathbb{Z}_p$ by $T$, the corresponding sequence of strongly divisible modules is exact. Analogous statements are proved for Breuil-Kisin modules and for prismatic $F$-crystals for all $r\geq 0$. In the crystalline case, we deduce that the integral Bloch-Kato Selmer group $H^1_f(K, T)$ is computed by $\mathrm{Ext}^1$ in the category of crystalline strongly divisible modules. Using further exactness results, we define a tensor product of strongly divisible modules, which commutes with the functors to Galois representations. As an application, we show that for abelian varieties $A_1, A_2$ over $K$ with good reduction, the cup product map $\delta_1\cup\delta_2:A_1(K)\otimes A_2(K)\rightarrow H^2(K, T_p(A_1)\otimes T_p(A_2))$ induced by the Kummer sequences of $A_1, A_2$ factors through an $\mathrm{Ext}^2$ group of strongly divisible modules.

The Hilbert symbol in the Hodge standard conjecture

We study the Hodge standard conjecture for varieties over finite fields admitting a CM lifting, such as abelian varieties or products of K3 surfaces. For those varieties we show that the signature predicted by the conjecture holds true modulo $4$. This amounts to determining the discriminant and the Hilbert symbol of the intersection product. The first is obtained by $\ell$-adic arguments whereas the second needs a careful computation in $p$-adic Hodge theory.

Galois-module theory for wildly ramified covers of curves over finite fields

Given a Galois cover of curves over $\mathbb{F}_p$, we relate the $p$-adic valuation of epsilon constants appearing in functional equations of Artin L-functions to an equivariant Euler characteristic. Our main theorem generalises a result of Chinburg from the tamely to the weakly ramified case. We furthermore apply Chinburg's result to obtain a `weak' relation in the general case. In the Appendix, we study, in this arbitrarily wildly ramified case, the integrality of $p$-adic valuations of epsilon constants.

Product formula for p-adic epsilon factors

Let X be a smooth proper curve over a finite field of characteristic p. We prove a product formula for p-adic epsilon factors of arithmetic D-modules on X. In particular we deduce the analogous formula for overconvergent F-isocrystals, which was conjectured previously. The p-adic product formula is the equivalent in rigid cohomology of the Deligne-Laumon formula for epsilon factors in l-adic étale cohomology (for a prime l different from p). One of the main tools in the proof of this p-adic formula is a theorem of regular stationary phase for arithmetic D-modules that we prove by microlocal techniques.
