On automorphisms of enveloping algebras

Given an algebraic Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ over $\mathbb{C}$, we canonically associate to it a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_{\infty}$ defined over $\mathbb{C}_{\infty}$-the reduction of $\mathbb{C}$ mod infinitely large prime, and show that for a class of Lie algebras $\mathfrak{g}_{\infty}$ is an invariant of the derived category of $\mathfrak{g}$-modules. We give two applications of this construction. First, we show that the bounded derived category of $\mathfrak{g}$-modules determines algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ for a class of Lie algebras. Second, given a semi-simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ over $\mathbb{C}$, we construct a canonical homomorphism from the group of automorphisms of the enveloping algebra $\mathfrak{U}\mathfrak{g}$ to the group of Lie algebra automorphisms of $\mathfrak{g}$, such that its kernel does not contain a nontrivial semi-simple automorphism. As a corollary we obtain that any finite subgroup of automorphisms of $\mathfrak{U}\mathfrak{g}$ isomorphic to a subgroup of Lie algebra automorphisms of $\mathfrak{g}.$

The Weyl algebra as a fixed ring

We prove that the Weyl algebra over $\mathbb{C}$ cannot be a fixed ring of any domain under a nontrivial action of a finite group by algebra automorphisms, thus settling a 30-year old problem. In fact, we prove the following much more general result. Let $X$ be a smooth affine variety over $\mathbb{C}$, let $D(X)$ denote the ring of algebraic differential operators on $X,$ and let $Γ$ be a finite group. If $D(X)$ is isomorphic to the ring of $Γ$-invariants of a $\mathbb{C}$-domain $R$ on which $Γ$ acts faithfully by $\mathbb{C}$-algebra automorphisms, then $R$ is isomorphic to the ring of differential operators on a $Γ$-Galois covering of $X.$

A proof of the first Kac-Weisfeiler conjecture in large characteristics

In 1971, Kac and Weisfeiler made two influential conjectures describing the dimensions of simple modules of a restricted Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. The first predicts the maximal dimension of simple $\mathfrak{g}$-modules and in this paper we apply the Lefschetz principle and classical techniques from Lie theory to prove this conjecture for all restricted Lie subalgebras of $\mathfrak{gl}_n(k)$ whenever $k$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p \gg n$. As a consequence we deduce that the conjecture holds for the the Lie algebra of a group scheme when specialised to an algebraically closed field of almost any characteristic. In the appendix to this paper, written by Akaki Tikaradze, a short proof of the first Kac--Weisfeiler conjecture is given for the Lie algebra of group scheme over a finitely generated ring $R \subseteq \mathbb{C}$, after base change to a field of large positive characteristic.

Invertibility of Toeplitz operators with polyanalytic symbols

Given a polyanalytic function, we show that the corresponding Toeplitz operator on the Bergman space of the unit disc can be expressed as a quotient of certain differential operators with holomorphic coefficients. This enables us to obtain several operator theoretic results including a criterion for invertibility of a Toeplitz operator.

A simple proof of the first Kac-Weisfeiler conjecture for algebraic Lie algebras in large characteristics

Given a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ of an algebraic group over a ring $S,$ we show that the first Kac-Weisfeiler conjecture holds for reductions of $\mathfrak{g} \mod p$ for large enough primes $p,$ reproving a recent result of Martin, Stewart and Topley. As a byproduct of our proof, we show that the center of the skew field of fractions of the the enveloping algebra $\mathfrak{U}\mathfrak{g}_{k}$ for a field $k$ of characteristic $p>>0$ is generated by the $p$-center and by the reduction $\mod p$ of the center of the fraction skew field of $\mathfrak{U}\mathfrak{g}.$

On transitive action on quiver varieties

Associated with each finite subgroup $Γ$ of $\rm{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})$ there is a family of noncommutative algebras $O_τ(Γ)$ quantizing $\mathbb{C}^2/\!\!/Γ$. Let $G_Γ$ be the group of $Γ$-equivariant automorphisms of $O_τ$. One of the authors earlier defined and studied a natural action of $G_Γ$ on certain quiver varieties associated with $Γ$. He established a $G_Γ$-equivariant bijective correspondence between quiver varieties and the space of isomorphism classes of $O_τ$-ideals. The main theorem in this paper states that when $Γ$ is a cyclic group, the action of $G_Γ$ on each quiver variety is transitive. This generalizes an earlier result due to Berest and Wilson who showed the transitivity of the automorphism group of the first Weyl algebra on the Calogero-Moser spaces. Our result has two important implications. First, it confirms the Bockland-Le Bruyn conjecture for cyclic quiver varieties. Second, it will be used to give a complete classification of algebras Morita equivalent to $O_τ(Γ)$.

A Carlitz-von Staudt type theorem for finite rings

We compute the $k$th power-sums (for all $k>0$) over an arbitrary finite unital ring $R$. This unifies and extends the work of Brawley, Carlitz, and Levine for matrix rings [Duke Math. J. 1974], with folklore results for finite fields and finite cyclic groups, and more general recent results of Grau and Oller-Marcen for commutative rings [Finite Fields Appl. 2017]. As an application, we resolve a conjecture by Fortuny Ayuso, Grau, Oller-Marcen, and Rua on zeta values for matrix rings over finite commutative rings [Internat. J. Algebra Comput. 2017]. We further recast our main result via zeta values over polynomial rings, and end by classifying the translation-invariant polynomials over a large class of finite commutative rings.

On the local structure of quantizations in characteristic p

Let $A$ be a central quantization of an affine Poisson variety $X$ over a field of characteristic $p>0.$ We show that the completion of $A$ with respect to a closed point $y\in X$ is isomorphic to the tensor product of the Weyl algebra with a local Poisson algebra. This result can be thought of as a positive characteristic analogue of results of Losev and Kaledin about slice algebras of quantizations in characteristic 0.

Ideals in deformation quantizations over $\mathbb{Z}/p^n\mathbb{Z}$

Let $X$ be a smooth affine symplectic variety over $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z},$ and let $A_1$ be an Azumaya algebra over $X.$ In this note we show that if $A$ is a deformation quantization of $A_1$ over $\mathbb{Z}/p^n\mathbb{Z}$, then any two-sided $\mathbb{Z}/p^n\mathbb{Z}$-flat ideal in $A$ is generated by central elements.

On Category $\mathcal{O}$ over triangular Generalized Weyl Algebras

We analyze the BGG Category $\mathcal{O}$ over a large class of generalized Weyl algebras (henceforth termed GWAs). Given such a "triangular" GWA for which Category $\mathcal{O}$ decomposes into a direct sum of subcategories, we study in detail the homological properties of blocks with finitely many simples. As consequences, we show that the endomorphism algebra of a projective generator of such a block is quasi-hereditary, finite-dimensional, and graded Koszul. We also classify all tilting modules in the block, as well as all submodules of all projective and tilting modules. Finally, we present a novel connection between blocks of triangular GWAs and Young tableaux, which provides a combinatorial interpretation of morphisms and extensions between objects of the block.

Hochschild cohomology of deformation quantizations over $\mathbb{Z}/p^n\mathbb{Z}$

Let X be a an affine smooth symplectic variety over $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z},$ and A be its deformation quantization over the p-adic integers. We prove that for all $n\geq 1,$ the Hochschild cohomogy of $A/p^nA$ is isomorphic to the de Rham-Witt complex of X over $\mathbb{Z}/p^n\mathbb{Z}$. We also compute centers of deformations of certain affine Poisson varieties over $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}.$

Completions of Infinitesimal Hecke Algebras of sl2

We relate completions of infinitesimal Hecke algebras of sl2 to noncommutative deformations of Kleinian singularities of type D of Crawley-Boevey and Holland. As a consequence, we show an analogue of the inequality of Bernstein and simplicity of generic maximal primitive quotients of these algebras. We also establish Skryabin type equivalence for these algebras.
