Introducing a Kondo-type interaction to the model of quantum walkers

We introduce a model of discrete-time quantum walkers interacting with a lozalized magnetic impurity. Each quantum walker interacts with an impurity, through which multiple quantum walkers indirectly interact with each other, as in the Kondo model. We first identify a quantum walker as a massless Dirac particle propagating in continuous space via a series of Dirac's delta potentials. Based on the identification, we add a spin-$1/2$ degree of freedom to Dirac's potential at the origin. We derive all scattering matrices for massless Dirac particles arising from the impurity. First, for a simple set of parameter values, we analytically obtain the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the bound states, in which a quantum walker is bound to the magnetic impurity. Second, we study two quantum walkers indirectly interacting with each other via the magnetic impurity. We numerically simulate the collision dynamics in one dimension when the spin-spin interaction at the origin is of the XX type and the SU(2) Heisenberg type. In the case of the XX interaction, we calculate the entanglement negativity to quantify how much the two quantum walkers are entangled with each other, and find that the negativity increases drastically upon the collision of the two walkers. In the case of the SU(2) Heisenberg interaction, we simulate the dynamics starting from the initial state in which one fermionic walker is in a bound eigenstate around the origin and the other fermionic walker is a delta function colliding with the first walker. We find that a bound eigenstate closest to the singlet state of the first walker and the magnetic impurity is least perturbed by the collision of the second walker. We speculate that this finding may be related to Kondo screening-like behavior at the lowest level of the real-space renormalization-group procedure.

Markovianity and non-Markovianity of Particle Bath with Dirac Dispersion Relation

The dynamics of a two-level system coupled to a particle bath with the Dirac dispersion relation is studied. We analytically show that closing the Dirac gap results in a transition of the survival probability of the two-level system from non-exponential to exponential decay in the long-time regime, while the short-time regime remains exponential. The exact time-evolving state is also calculated. With the Dirac gap closing smoothly, the time-evolving state converges to a time-evolving resonant state, which is normalizable due to causality. We numerically show that introducing a finite cutoff to the Dirac dispersion relation leads to a transition from exponential to non-exponential decay both in short- and long-time regimes, with the time-evolving resonant state resolved to a time-evolving state. Furthermore, we propose several experimental setups that act as a particle bath with the Dirac dispersion relation. We give a detailed calculation for one of them, namely an optical array in the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger configuration. In this case, we show that our theoretical results can be observed experimentally with realistic parameters in an existing experimental setup of an optical waveguide array.

Exact time-evolving resonant states for open double quantum-dot systems with spin degrees of freedom

We study time-evolving resonant states in an open double quantum-dot system, taking into account spin degrees of freedom as well as both on-dot and interdot Coulomb interactions. We exactly derived a non-Hermite effective Hamiltonian acting on the subspace of two quantum dots, where the non-Hermiticity arises from an effect of infinite external leads connected to the quantum dots. By diagonalizing the effective Hamiltonian, we identify four types of two-body resonant states. For the initial states of localized two electrons with opposite spins on the quantum dots, we exactly solve the time-dependent Schroedinger equation and obtain time-evolving two-body resonant states. The time-evolving resonant states are normalizable since their wave function grows exponentially only inside a finite space interval that expands in time with electron velocity. By using the exact solution, we analyze the survival and transition probabilities of localized two electrons on the quantum dots.

Exact time-evolving scattering states in open quantum-dot systems with an interaction: Discovery of time-evolving resonant states

We study exact time-evolving many-electron states of an open double quantum-dot system with an interdot Coulomb interaction. A systematic construction of the time-evolving states for arbitrary initial conditions is proposed. For any initial states of one- and two-electron plane waves on the electrical leads, we obtain exact solutions of the time-evolving scattering states, which converge to known stationary scattering eigenstates in the long-time limit. For any initial states of localized electrons on the quantum dots, we find exact time-evolving states of a new type, which we refer to as time-evolving resonant states. In contrast to stationary resonant states, whose wave functions spatially diverge and not normalizable, the time-evolving resonant states are normalizable since their wave functions are restricted to a finite space interval due to causality. The exact time-evolving resonant states enable us to calculate the time-dependence of the survival probability of electrons on the quantum dots for the system with the linearized dispersions. It decays exponentially in time on one side of an exponential point of resonance energies while, on the other side, it oscillates during the decay as a result of the interference of the two resonance energies.

Universal electric current of interacting resonant-level models with asymmetric interactions: An extension of the Landauer formula

We study the electron transport in open quantum-dot systems described by the interacting resonant-level models with Coulomb interactions. We consider the situation in which the quantum dot is connected to the left and right leads asymmetrically. We exactly construct many-electron scattering eigenstates for the two-lead system, where two-body bound states appear as a consequence of one-body resonances and the Coulomb interactions. By using an extension of the Landauer formula, we calculate the average electric current for the system under bias voltages in the first order of the interaction parameters. Through a renormalization-group technique, we arrive at the universal electric current, where we observe the suppression of the electric current for large bias voltages, i.e., negative differential conductance. We find that the suppressed electric current is restored by the asymmetry of the system parameters.

Exact scattering eigenstates, many-body bound states, and nonequilibrium current of an open quantum dot system

We obtain an exact many-body scattering eigenstate in an open quantum dot system. The scattering state is not in the form of the Bethe eigenstate in the sense that the wave-number set of the incoming plane wave is not conserved during the scattering and many-body bound states appear. By using the scattering state, we study the average nonequilibrium current through the quantum dot under a finite bias voltage. The current-voltage characteristics that we obtained by taking the two-body bound state into account is qualitatively similar to several known results.

An algebraic derivation of the eigenspaces associated with an Ising-like spectrum of the superintegrable chiral Potts model

In terms of the $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}$ loop algebra and the algebraic Bethe-ansatz method, we derive the invariant subspace associated with a given Ising-like spectrum consisting of $2^{r}$ eigenvalues of the diagonal-to-diagonal transfer matrix of the superintegrable chiral Potts (SCP) model with arbitrary inhomogeneous parameters. We show that every regular Bethe eigenstate of the $τ_2$-model leads to an Ising-like spectrum and is an eigenvector of the SCP transfer matrix which is given by the product of two diagonal-to-diagonal transfer matrices with a constraint on the spectral parameters. We also show in a sector that the $τ_2$-model commutes with the $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}$ loop algebra, $L(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})$, and every regular Bethe state of the $τ_2$-model is of highest weight. Thus, from physical assumptions such as the completeness of the Bethe ansatz, it follows in the sector that every regular Bethe state of the $τ_2$-model generates an $L(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})$-degenerate eigenspace and it gives the invariant subspace, i.e. the direct sum of the eigenspaces associated with the Ising-like spectrum.

Entanglement generation through an open quantum dot: an exact approach

We analytically study entanglement generation through an open quantum dot system described by the two-lead Anderson model. We exactly obtain the transition rate between the non-entangled incident state in one lead and the outgoing spin-singlet state in the other lead. In the cotunneling process, only the spin-singlet state can transmit. To discuss such an entanglement property in the open quantum system, we construct the exact two-electron scattering state of the Anderson model. It is striking that the scattering state contains spin-singlet bound states induced by the Coulomb interaction. The bound state describes the scattering process in which the set of momenta is not conserved and hence it is not in the form of a Bethe eigenstate.

Resonance in an open quantum dot system with a Coulomb interaction: a Bethe-ansatz approach

An open quantum system consisting of a quantum dot with a Coulomb interaction and two leads without interactions is studied. The many-body scattering states are constructed with the Bethe-ansatz approach. The expectation value of the electric current is exactly calculated for the scattering states to observe resonance peaks due to many-body scattering.

Completeness of Bethe ansatz for 1D Hubbard model with AB-flux through combinatorial formulas and exact enumeration of eigenstates

For the one-dimensional Hubbard model with Aharonov-Bohm-type magnetic flux, we study the relation between its symmetry and the number of Bethe states. First we show the existence of solutions for Lieb-Wu equations with an arbitrary number of up-spins and one down-spin, and exactly count the number of the Bethe states. The results are consistent with Takahashi's string hypothesis if the system has the so(4) symmetry. With the Aharonov-Bohm-type magnetic flux, however, the number of Bethe states increases and the standard string hypothesis does not hold. In fact, the so(4) symmetry reduces to the direct sum of charge-u(1) and spin-sl(2) symmetry through the change of AB-flux strength. Next, extending Kirillov's approach, we derive two combinatorial formulas from the relation among the characters of so(4)- or (u(1)\oplus sl(2))-modules. One formula reproduces Essler-Korepin-Schoutens' combinatorial formula for counting the number of Bethe states in the so(4)-case. From the exact analysis of the Lieb-Wu equations, we find that another formula corresponds to the spin-sl(2) case.

Bethe-ansatz studies of energy level crossings in the one-dimensional Hubbard model

Motivated by Heilmann and Lieb's work, we discuss energy level crossings for the one-dimensional Hubbard model through the Bethe ansatz, constructing explicitly the degenerate eigenstates at the crossing points. After showing the existence of solutions for the Lieb--Wu equations with one-down spin, we solve them numerically and construct Bethe ansatz eigenstates. We thus verify all the level crossings in the spectral flows observed by the numerical diagonalization method with one down-spin. For each of the solutions we obtain its energy spectral flow along the interaction parameter U. Then, we observe that some of the energy level crossings can not be explained in terms of U-independent symmetries. Dynamical symmetries of the Hubbard model are fundamental for identifying each of the spectral lines at the level crossing points. We show that the Bethe ansatz eigenstates which degenerate at the points have distinct sets of eigenvalues of the higher conserved operators. We also show a twofold permanent degeneracy in terms of the Bethe ansatz wavefunction.

Algebraic study on the $A_{N-1}$- and $B_N$-Calogero models with bosonic, fermionic and distinguishable particles

Through an algebraic method using the Dunkl--Cherednik operators, the multivariable Hermite and Laguerre polynomials associated with the $A_{N-1}$- and $B_N$-Calogero models with bosonic, fermionic and distinguishable particles are investigated. The Rodrigues formulas of column type that algebraically generate the monic non-symmetric multivariable Hermite and Laguerre polynomials corresponding to the distinguishable case are presented. Symmetric and anti-symmetric polynomials that respectively give the eigenstates for bosonic and fermionic particles are also presented by the symmetrization and anti-symmetrization of the non-symmetric ones. The norms of all the eigenstates for all cases are algebraically calculated in a unified way.

Bosonic and Fermionic Eigenstates for Generalized Sutherland Models

We construct bosonic and fermionic eigenstates for the generalized Sutherland models associated with arbitrary reduced root systems respectively, through W-symmetrization and W-anti-symmetrization of Heckman-Opdam's nonsymmetric Jacobi polynomials. Square norms of the nonsymmetric Heckman-Opdam polynomials are evaluated from their Rodrigues formulae. The W-symmetrization and W-anti-symmetrization of the nonsymmetric polynomials enable us to evaluate square norms of bosonic and fermionic eigenstates for the generalized Sutherland models.

Rodrigues Formula for the Nonsymmetric Multivariable Laguerre Polynomial

Extending a method developed by Takamura and Takano, we present the Rodrigues formula for the nonsymmetric multivariable Laguerre polynomials which form the orthogonal basis for the $B_{N}$-type Calogero model with distinguishable particles. Our construction makes it possible for the first time to algebraically generate all the nonsymmetric multivariable Laguerre polynomials with different parities for each variable.

Symmetric Fock space and orthogonal symmetric polynomials associated with the Calogero model

Using a similarity transformation that maps the Calogero model into $N$ decoupled quantum harmonic oscillators, we construct a set of mutually commuting conserved operators of the model and their simultaneous eigenfunctions. The simultaneous eigenfunction is a deformation of the symmetrized number state (bosonic state) and forms an orthogonal basis of the Hilbert (Fock) space of the model. This orthogonal basis is different from the known one that is a variant of the Jack polynomial, i.e., the Hi-Jack polynomial. This fact shows that the conserved operators derived by the similarity transformation and those derived by the Dunkl operator formulation do not commute. Thus we conclude that the Calogero model has two, algebraically inequivalent sets of mutually commuting conserved operators, as is the case with the hydrogen atom. We also confirm the same story for the $B_{N}$-Calogero model.

New Non-Symmetric Orthogonal Basis for the Calogero Model with Distinguishable Particles

We demonstrate an algebraic construction of all the simultaneous eigenfunctions of the conserved operators for distinguishable particles governed by the Calogero Hamiltonian. Our construction is completely parallel to the construction of the Fock space for decoupled quantum harmonic oscillators. The simultaneous eigenfunction does not coincide with the non-symmetric Hi-Jack polynomial, which shows that the conserved operators derived from the number operators of the decoupled quantum harmonic oscillators are algebraically different from the known ones derived by the Dunkl operator formulation.
